Devastating ad exposes transgender mutilation of children

 

A new ad is taking aim at far-left Texas Democrat Senate nominee James Talarico’s record on LGBT issues, using artificial intelligence (AI) to depict the candidate as a gender “transition” surgeon looming over a little girl.

The 30-second spot, created by American Principles Project (APP), evokes the famous 1964 “Daisy” ad from President Lyndon B. Johnson’s campaign that depicted a little girl picking flower petals before implicitly being caught in a nuclear explosion. The APP version replaces the looming threat of the Cold War arms race with the transgender industry.

“She dreams of growing up, falling in love, becoming a mother,” a similarly voiced narrator says. “The trans industry preys on confused children. Irreversible puberty blockers. Cross-sex hormones. Sex-change surgeries. This November, stop them before it’s too late.” The ad cuts to the girl being prepped for surgery, with a surgeon looking down on her who removes his mask to reveal Talarico’s face before ending on a black screen displaying, “Vote for Ken Paxton on November 3.”

“James Talarico wears Christianity like a skin suit to conceal his radical trans agenda and unwavering devotion to advancing the $4.5 billion Trans Industrial Complex that profits from mutilating children,” APP president Terry Schilling told the New York Post. “Texas voters need to know his record of voting against bans on irreversible sex changes for minors while cozying up to surgeons who performed them. Our ad exposes the truth behind the seminary student facade.”

The Talarico campaign condemned the spot, with spokesperson JT Enis telling the paper it was “flat-out lying: James does not support gender reassignment surgery for minors.” It pointed to a June 8 interview in which Talarico said “I oppose gender reassignment surgeries for minors.”

What the campaign omits, however, is that this more mainstream stance is a relatively recent change from Talarico’s record in the Texas Legislature, where in 2023 he opposed legislation banning such surgeries on minors, and declared he was “disturbed that this body is not willing to let doctors make these decisions” that he falsely claimed would increase teen suicides. Conservatives suspect he is only opposing child transitions to get elected and would revert to supporting them once in office.

Democrats initially framed Talarico, a Presbyterian seminarian and current Texas state representative, as a mainstream figure and rising political talent capable of appealing across partisan lines due in part to his ostensible faith background that was swiftly quashed not only by his strident left-wing stances on abortion, sexuality, and more but by claiming Christianity endorses them.

He has falsely claimed that the Bible “doesn’t mention abortion or gay marriage” and attempted to use the Bible to defend abortion while asserting the “closest thing we have to the kingdom of heaven is a multiracial, multicultural democracy where power is truly shared among all people.” In 2022, he urged former President Joe Biden to establish abortion centres on federal property across the country to counter what he called an “anti-choice” threat to “our most basic rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” On multiple occasions, Talarico has referred to women as “neighbours with a uterus,” apparently to avoid “gendering.”

He has also faced intense criticism for blasphemous comments in 2021 about God and transgenderism. He has attempted to explain that he “was being intentionally provocative with that statement” while acknowledging there were “some statements that I’ve made that I certainly regret” and complaining that Paxton, Talarico’s Republican opponent, was allegedly “intentionally clipping my cringey comments to distract from his career of corruption.”

Paxton, the current Texas attorney general, defeated incumbent Sen. John Cornyn for the GOP nomination to the seat, overcoming fears of his electability and accusations of corruption and infidelity thanks to a combination of his proactive record as AG, discontent with Cornyn’s more moderate record, and a late-breaking endorsement from President Donald Trump.

Some GOP analysts continue to fear trading Cornyn for Paxton gives Democrats an opportunity to pick up a critical Senate seat in the red state or at least force the party to spend more to hold onto it than it otherwise would have, potentially at the expense of other races. Others maintain that Talarico’s radicalism squanders whatever hopes Democrats might have had.
