Amazon bans books on gay ‘conversion therapy’. Is the Bible next?

Image
In a very disturbing move, Amazon has removed the books of Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, the psychologist whom critics have dubbed “the father of conversion therapy.” In other words, for claiming that change is possible for those who experience unwanted same-sex attraction, Dr. Nicolosi’s books must be banned. This leads to the logical question: Will Amazon ban the Bible next? There is no hyperbole here. After all, it is the Bible that condemns same-sex relationships and the Bible that speaks of those who once practiced homosexuality but do so no more (see 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). These people, today, would be known as “ex-gays.” And it was Dr. Nicolosi’s life work to help people with unwanted same-sex attractions. Why, then, should Amazon ban his books but continue to sell the Bible, which provides the theological underpinnings for Dr. Nicolosi’s scientific work? After all, gay critics of the Bible refer to the so-called “clobber passages,” referring to verses which have been used to speak aga...

LGBT group finds America doesn’t like its radical identity politics anymore, panics

Image
Acceptance of “LGBT” people – which had experienced a dramatic upswing in recent years – has peaked and begun to decline according to a report unveiled by the LGBT media advocacy group GLAAD . The  GLAAD report , based on a Harris Poll , set off loud alarm bells, sirens, and flashing lights in gay and mainstream media. One headline  trumpeted , “Shocking report finds acceptance of LGBTQ people is rolling backwards in the age of Trump.” “In a single year, we’ve seen significant declines from what had been an increasingly accepting America to one now less supportive,” Harris Polling said in a statement from a GLAAD press release, adding, “this lost ground of acceptance cuts across many in American society.” In last year's report, 53 percent of Americans said they were “very” or “somewhat” comfortable with LGBT people. This year, that figure dropped four points to 49 percent, nearly an 8% decrease. LGBT, Inc. is scared. As it turns out, LGBT, Inc. was prematurel...

Catholic parish’s ‘LGBT ministry’ to hold meeting in gay drag bar

Image
The Catholic LGBT ministry,  Out at St. Paul  (OSP), located at the Paulist Fathers motherhouse of  St. Paul the Apostle Parish  in New York City , will host their “ Winter Social ” at the Rise gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen.  The Rise bar  is a well-known gay bar in Manhattan which is often included on lists ranking  the best gay bars  in New York City. The bar is particularly known for its elaborate weekly drag shows and the bartenders who wear nothing except a jock-strap. According to Out at St. Paul: Please join us for the OSP Winter Social on Wednesday, January 31st, at Rise Bar, which is located at 9th Avenue at 56th Street in (you guessed it!) Hell’s Kitchen. This is a great opportunity to catch up with your old friends in the OSP community and to meet new friends as well. Please join us, especially if you are a newcomer to the OSP community! All are welcome. But this is not the first time that OSP hosted an official gathering ...

Australia: Pastors committed to man/woman marriage who want to hand in the license

Image
I would like comment briefly on suggestions that ministers who are committed to a Biblical view of man/woman marriage ought to “hand in their license” and no longer participate in solemnizing any marriages for the purposes of the  Marriage Act . This is an “internal” debate among those who have a high view of the Bible. But for those readers, I would like to make it clear that I disagree with the suggestion. The position has recently been put forward by someone whom I respect immensely, Pastor Campbell Markham from the Presbyterian Church in Tasmania, in his article “ Resignation from the Marriage Act ” (Nov 29, 2017). Pastor Markham has the courage of his convictions in a number of areas- he is currently the subject of a complaint under the Tasmanian ADA similar to one made previously against Archbishop Julian Porteous. However, on this issue, he and I disagree. Of course, I have no criticism of his decision to not solemnize marriages under the law of Australia...

Why people need to say NO - to homosexual marriage

Image
This is why I will be voting No to same sex marriage There's no doubt that central to the concept of family is a definition of marriage involving a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation. With only minor exceptions over some hundreds of years and across all the major religions, this is how marriage has been, and continues to be, defined. It's also true that about 98 per cent of Australians identify as heterosexual and according to the 2011 census figures only 1 per cent of Australian couples are same-sex, with surveys suggesting only a minority want same-sex marriage. There are more important issues to worry about. We should also forget the Safe Schools' postmodern, deconstructed definition of marriage where gender and sexuality are fluid and limitless and individuals are free to choose whatever they choose to self-identify as. No matter how much gays and lesbians might want to wish otherwise from a physiological and biological point of view, only men ...

Christian leader supports homosexual sin - Eugene H. Peterson

Image
In a recent interview with Religion News Service’s Jonathan Merritt, pastor, theologian, and author Eugene Peterson affirmed same-sex marriage and the spirituality of Christians who identify as gay or lesbian.  “I think that kind of debate about lesbians and gays might be over. People who disapprove of it, they’ll probably just go to another church. So we’re in a transition and I think it’s a transition for the best, for the good. I would perform a homosexual marriage ."  Peterson has tried to retract these statements claiming he usually responds to question in writing. But his initial responses betray sadly his drifting heart away from Biblical doctrine. His answers were clear and precise. To say otherwise, is to seek to protect his reputation rather than the gospel, hence he now says there will be no more interviews at all. Did his literary agents order him to issue his retraction? Yes, on the basis of his new book. Is it too late? Sadly, yes. Denny Burk, ...

LGBT arguments VS Apostle Paul and th Book of Romans

Image
Is Paul making a blanket pronouncement that homosexuality is sin against God in Romans 1:26–27 when he speaks of a behavior (“men with men” and “women with women”) that is “against nature”? The Revisionist Answer It is not possible to read here a reference to a crime against nature or a so-called “natural law” because such a concept is Greek and was unknown to Paul. The Biblical Answer Natural law was known to Philo and Josephus, contemporaries with the apostle Paul , and it is reflected in literature contemporary with, or antecedent to, Paul. For Jews , it represented creation and God’s law brought into harmony. The Revisionist Claim In Romans 1, Paul condemns men and women who leave their natural state. He does not condemn those who are born homosexual, who have the homosexual condition, for that is their natural state. Ancient peoples did not know of the modern ideas of a mutual, permanent homosexual union and homosexual orientation . Rather, Paul condemns either homosexu...

Cardinal Maradiaga: Homosexuals are not ‘born this way’

Image
Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodrigues Maradiaga of Honduras said “no man is born homosexual” during a two-hour discussion with school children last week in Münster, Germany. In the discussion, the Cardinal brushed over many hot topics raised by students. Yet when asked about the Church’s dealings with people with homosexual tendencies, Cardinal Maradiaga told the children that homosexuality is not a lifelong condition starting from birth. He asserted that “everybody is born a man or a woman, to love the other – that is God’s plan,” the diocesan media website reported. He added that natural sexual orientation is only altered by negative influences in childhood or adolescence such as abuse, neglect, or pornography. “Sexuality is a gift of God,” Cardinal Maradiaga said. It is “not a hobby, but an expression of love. … Nobody should be the slave of his sexual passions, but should learn how to manage them with responsibility and with self-esteem. … Therefore, we need formation, not just...

NCAA pulls 7 championship events from North Carolina over bathroom bill

Image
The state of North Carolina is losing more athletic events as a result of its gender-specific bathroom law. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced Monday night that it will pull seven championship games out of the state, including the first and second rounds of NCAA men’s Division I basketball tournament. The "Road to the Final Four" games were scheduled to be played in Greensboro. The NCAA governing board also announced it was   pulling college soccer, golf, tennis, lacrosse and baseball   events out of North Carolina.  North Carolina Republican Party spokeswoman Kami Mueller responded with incredulity. "This is so absurd it's almost comical," she said, mocking the idea of merging men's and women's teams together as a unisex team.  "This decision is an assault to female athletes across the nation. ... Under the NCAA's logic, colleges should make cheerleaders and football players share bathrooms, showers and ...

Texas Supreme Court Justice: States Can Deny Same-Sex Spousal Benefits to “Encourage Procreation”

Image
On Friday, the Texas Supreme Court refused to review a lower court ruling holding that cities may not deprive married same-sex couples the benefits it provides to opposite-sex couples. The court’s decision leaves in place a pro-equality ruling that forbids the government from discriminating against gay people for no good reason. But one judge, Justice John Devine, argued that his court should have taken the case and reversed the lower court’s judgment. His opinion is a wonderful sign that conservative judges are striving to work around Obergefell v. Hodges and affirm the constitutionality of state-sponsored pro marriage push. Devine is clearly no fan of Obergefell, “Marriage is a fundamental right,” Devine wrote. “Spousal benefits are not.” Devine insisted that Obergefell’s affirmation of same-sex couples’ constitutional right to wed does not preclude Texas from discriminating against married, homosexual couples in other ways. Obergefell, the justice argued, was strictly limited t...
