Christians muzzled by pro LGBT RA

Image
Christian Wallabies players have blasted Rugby Australia, saying they 'felt muzzled' and were not allowed to publicly support their teammate Israel Folau before he was sacked for posting homophobic messages to Instagram. Senior Wallabies Sekope Kepu and Samu Kerevi both supported Folau after his social media posts about homosexuals being condemned to hell when they died. Folau's lucrative contract was torn up by Rugby Australia boss Raelene Castle before he launched legal action and reached a multi-million dollar settlement in December.   Kerevi and Kepu wrote affidavits submitted to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia in support of Folau in November, which were later obtained by The Australian.  In the documents both men state they were 'muzzled' by Rugby Australia when they felt they were prevented from speaking with the media over the Folau saga.  'My perception was that the media was briefed to approach people who would toe the 'anti-Isra...

“It’s Going to be an Issue.” Biola, Conscience, and the Culture War

Image
“It’s going to be an issue.” You may recall those five words that were spoken by Solicitor General Donald Verrilli in the oral arguments phase of  Obergefell v Hodges . Specifically, that sentence was Verrilli’s response to a question from Justice Alito about the tax-exempt status of private religious schools that continued to define marriage traditionally over and against the definition of the government.   Justice Alito made a salient observation: If the Obama administration’s contention was that traditional marriage laws were analogous to racial segregation, wouldn’t schools that defined marriage traditionally be in the same category as those (such as Bob Jones University in the 1990s) who continued to enforce anti-segregation campus policies (and, thus, were ineligible for tax-exempt status)? Verrilli’s response was telling; it signaled a willingness to acknowledge the latent tension in the same-sex marriage debate between the advance of “equality” and the pr...

LGBT discrimination against: Christian Colleges, Religious Liberty, and SB 1146

Image
On June 30, a piece of proposed state legislation made its way to the California State Assembly Committee on Judiciary. The bill (SB 1146) has already passed in the state senate by a vote of 26–13. The next stop for the bill, at this point, is the Assembly Committee on Appropriations, before it goes to the floor for a vote. Because the bill is continually being amended, an analysis of the bill as it currently stands can be read  here . Or, for a more readable interpretation of the bill, see  here . The goal of this post is to answer some basic questions about this proposed piece of legislation.  1. What is the basic premise of SB 1146? SB 1146 prohibits private/religious colleges and universities in California from “discriminating” against LGBT students, faculty, or staff members, even if LGBT lifestyles run contrary to that institution’s religious beliefs. Students, faculty, or staff who think they have been the object of discrimination bas...

‘Transgender’ conditioning is ‘child abuse’

Image
George Orwell famously wrote, “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” For those tethered to biological reality, the self-evident truth that, prior to birth, people develop either “XY” or “XX” genetic markers and, as such, are objectively, and shall forever remain, either male or female, is as plain as blue is blue or pink is pink. Indeed, notwithstanding the politically driven “LGBT” agenda that pretends otherwise, those who suffer with “gender dysphoria” disorder will stay, as born, either male or female, whether or not they play dress up, sterilize themselves and destroy healthy reproductive organs. Hence, it’s of little surprise that, tragically, of those who put themselves through this imaginary “transition,” 41 percent will subsequently  attempt suicide. Still, this “progressive” socio-political scheme moves quickly from merely pitiable and delusional to ghastly and abusive when children are the targets – when selfish adults ex...

Nike - ends sponsorship over boxer affirming traditional marriage

Image
Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Nike , one of the world’s largest sellers of sporting goods, is ending its sponsorship of Filipino boxing great Manny Pacquiao for condemning same sex “marriage.” “We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” stated the company. “Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community . We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.” The company paid him $1 million yearly for his endorsement, according to Total Sportek. Pacquiao’s career earnings are reported to top $300 million. Pacquiao, 37, a winner of world championships in eight weight classifications, was asked by a Manila TV station as he trained for a US fight next year what he thought of same sex “marriage.” “It’s common sense,” the boxer responded. “Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female? The animals are better. They know how to dist...

Mennonite pastor who helped child flee lesbian ‘mother’ to go to prison

Image
Kenneth Miller , a Mennonite pastor who helped a woman and her daughter flee the country in 2009 to avoid court-ordered visitations with the girl's lesbian "mother," has   ended his appeal   against a 27-month federal prison sentence and will be required to begin his term on March 1. Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella are believed to have flown from Canada to Nicaragua in late 2009 after Kenneth Miller drove them to the Canadian border . Kenneth Miller was convicted of "aiding an international kidnapping" in 2012 but was allowed to remain free while he appealed the sentence. " God allows hardships and trials to make us into the image of His Son. THAT'S GOOD. So if this time in prison makes this poor sinner a little more like Jesus, it will be good and I will be happy,"   wrote   Kenneth Miller in response to his impending imprisonment. "We are not discouraged or depressed about the future, because God is in the future and we...
