Church leaders must not perform same-sex ‘weddings,’ use facilities for ceremonies: Mormon statement

SALE LAKE CITY, January 14, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – In a time when public figures from reality TV stars and fast food franchise presidents are increasingly facing backlash for casual comments about homosexuality, a new policy from the Mormon Church defends traditional marriage and the institution of the family without apology – and “insists” on its right to be heard in the public square. “Changes in the civil law do not, indeed cannot, change the moral law that God has established,” the statement, issued by church leadership on Friday, says. “God expects us to uphold and keep His commandments regardless of divergent opinions or trends in society.” The Mormon temple in Salt Lake City The statement was released just days after U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby,  an Obama appointee, struck down Utah's state constitutional marriage protection amendment  and other laws defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. ABC hires gay activist to write 8-hour history of the ‘gay rights’ movement

ABC plans to air an 8-hour miniseries about the history of homosexual activism, penned by a prominent homosexual political activist.  Homosexual writer and director Dustin Lance Black will write the miniseries.  Its timeline will reportedly begin with the  1969 Stonewall Riots , in which a police raid on a gay bar resulted in several nights of  violent demonstrations by homosexuals .  Gay activist Dustin Lance Black will pen the 8-hour miniseries. Black, 39, has been  active  in the homosexual advocacy movement since the beginning of his film career. He made his debut as a director and screenwriter with 2000’s  The Journey of Jared Price , a gay romance film, followed closely by  Something Close to Heaven , a gay coming-of-age short film.  The following year, he made a documentary in which he was also a subject called  On the Bus,  about six homosexual men on a road trip to the Burning Man music festival.  Black, who was raised Mormon, is a co-founder of the American Found

Homosexuality: Not natural and against reason

As a Christian trying to decide how to deal with the issue of homosexuality, it is important for you to realize that the vast majority of adults who are so inclined can commit this sin with impunity. Homosexuals use their civic freedom to engage in sin just like other sinners in our country—women are protected by the first amendment to read explicit romance novels, men are permitted to watch R-rated movies which serve no other purpose but to enflame lust, and Mormon parents use their freedom of religious expression to raise their children as Mormons . That being the case, it is a mistake to think of the homosexual movement as a political lobby whose main goal is to get rid of the remaining anti-sodomy statutes in this country. The states that still have these statutes rarely enforce them, if ever. The goal of the homosexual movement is not so much legalization in the law books as legitimization in society. This legitimization takes two rather contradictory forms. On the one hand, homo

Is Obama a Christian?

Image
July 30, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - For over four years, the American public has been told repeatedly by the President and his surrogates in the media and politics, that Barrack Obama is a “ Christian .” Yet, according to a recent poll, fewer people recognize his claimed religious affiliation than in 2008. The poll, conducted by the Pew Research Center ’s Forum on Religion and Public Life , and released on Thursday, indicates that only 49% of Americans believe that President Obama is a Christian. Another 17% called him a “Muslim.” Just before the 2008 election, a majority, 55%, had described then-candidate Obama’s faith as Christian, while just 12% said he was Muslim. Major media outlets spun the story, as they have in the past, as an issue of voter ignorance. The left-wing New York Daily News declared that “Poll finds Americans still confused about Barack Obama’s religion,” while ABC’s Amy Bingham titled her blog entry: “Half of Americans Do Not Know the President’s R

Arguments against Homosexual Marriage from reason and experience

Governments should define and establish marriage because no other institution can do that for an entire society Only a civil government is able to define a standard of what constitutes a marriage for a whole nation or whole society. No churches or denominations could do this, because they only speak for their own members. No voluntary societies could do this, because they don’t include all the people in the society. If no definition of marriage is given to an entire society, then chaos and much oppression of women and children will result. Stanley Kurtz of the Hudson Institute writes, In setting up the institution of marriage, society offers special support and encouragement to the men and women who together make children. Because marriage is deeply implicated in the interests of children, it is a matter of public concern. Children are helpless. They depend upon adults. Over and above their parents, children depend upon society to create institutions that keep them from chaos. C

Editor’s Note : Homosexuality is one of the most challenging issues that we at LifeSiteNews.com deal with. In all of our reporting on the issue we seek always to integrate the principle of “love in truth” - that is, in all cases to love all people, but also to present them with the truth, which can be extremely challenging if they suffer from same-sex attraction, and especially if they have given themselves to the homosexual lifestyle. Sometimes the mere presentation of the truth is denounced as “hate” by those who advocate the homosexualist agenda. However, there is a considerable group of people who present a challenge to both sides of the debate over homosexuality. Members of this extraordinary group of people admit that they have unwanted same-sex attraction, but also believe that homosexual behaviour is sinful, and homosexual attraction itself “disordered,” and therefore seek to live a life of virtue and chastity. One of the most fascinating of these individuals i
