July 5, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Brazilian psychologists are seeking to revoke the license of a therapist for publicly affirming her Christian beliefs on her online blog and twitter accounts, an action that the organization claims violates its code of ethics. Marisa Lobo, a psychologist and Evangelical who has published several popular works on psychological issues, sends Twitter messages to her thousands of followers under the title “ Christian Psychology,” and maintains a website with the same name. The Federal Council of Psychology (CFP), which has the power to regulate the activities of psychologists in Brazil, informed Lobo in February through its affiliate in the state of Paraná that she had 15 days to remove any indication of an association between her psychology practice and her religious beliefs from her website, or risk losing her license to practice. WHY MALE AND FEMALE MATTER

Image
By Jeff Johnston Ask people today  if  men and women are different or  how  men and women are different. You’re likely to get a wide variety of responses. Some will insist that there is no difference between men and women – except for reproductive organs . Many will say that all differences between the two sexes are learned; they are a social construct . Some will question your basic premise that there are two sexes. Why limit it to only two? Many people will not even know how to respond, or whether they should respond. Isn’t it sexist to say that women are different from men? What a state of confusion we live in. While obviously we can’t delve very deeply into this topic in a short article, here are some of the things we believe about men and women and why it matters that there are two sexes. MALE AN...

The Australian Psychological Society has endorsed a recent resolution of the American Psychological Association calling for marriage equality for those in same-sex relationships, on health and wellbeing grounds. The resolution of the APA, called for the legalisation of same-sex marriage, on the basis of psychological evidence showing the mental health benefits of marriage, and the harm caused by social exclusion and discrimination arising from not having the choice to marry .   Professor Simon Crowe , President of the APS, said: “Decades of psychological research provides the evidence linking marriage to mental health benefits, and highlighting the harm to individuals’ mental health of social exclusion. The APS supports the full recognition of same-sex relationships, on the basis of this evidence.” Unfortunately, genuine marriage by definition, history, logic and biological design cannot include same sex relationships. Likewise, the prevent of u nderage children or a broth...

The Mother of the Homosexual Movement - Evelyn Hooker PhD

Image
Image via Wikipedia Although few have heard of her outside the movement she helped to shape, the psychologist Evelyn Hooker ’s contributions to the advance of the homosexual political movement puts her in an historical class with Margaret Sanger , the foundress of Planned Parenthood and institutionalized abortion, and Alfred Kinsey the "father" of the sexual revolution. Hooker, a professor of psychology at the University of California at Los Angeles for 30 years, is credited in the medical and psychological community, and most especially amongst homosexual political activists, with establishing that there is no measurable psychological difference between heterosexual and homosexual men.  Her work introduced and developed the idea that homosexuality, far from being a mental disorder, is merely a normal minority variant on human sexuality. Hooker’s influential study on the issue, first published in 1957 in the Journal of Projective Techniques, was and still is presented a...
