Police stand by as activists threaten to burn down UK church over pastor calling out homosexual sin

Image
It all began when pastor Joshua Williamson of Newquay Baptist Church posted on social media that it was 'wonderful news' that a local Pride celebration had been canceled. Pink News, an online LGBT “news” outlet, has been frequently called out by none other than gay commentator Douglas Murray as a trashy hate rag primarily focused on grievance-peddling. All of that is true, but the most obvious attribute of those writing for the site is an utter lack of self-awareness. On September 8, for example, they published an attack on 34-year-old Joshua Williamson of Newquay Baptist Church under the headline: “Hateful preacher insists there’s no such thing as a gay Christian while thanking God for canceling Pride.” Williamson’s sin (and it’s important to note that these activists do believe in sin, they’ve just flipped the script) is a social media post noting that Cornwall Pride in the UK had been canceled with the comment “Wonderful news!”  When someone asked him why he’d posted this, ...

World’s oldest Methodist chapel to host homosexual ‘celebration’

Image
The oldest Methodist chapel in the world is about to be the site of an LGBT “celebration,” in direct contradiction of Scripture and the chapel’s own founder. On Saturday, the pro-homosexual group Christians At Bristol Pride will hold a “Service of Celebration” at The New Room in John Wesley’s Chapel in London, Christian Concern reports . The chapel was built in 1778 under the direction of English theologian John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. The pro-gay group says the event will be “an affirming service with songs, prayers and symbolic actions,” after which attendees will be invited to attend the LGBT “pride” march in Bristol town centre. Christians at Bristol Pride have also printed materials bearing the message “God affirms you” for homosexuals. “It's true that all people, made in God's image, have inherent dignity – and that all who turn to Jesus are welcomed – but the message 'God affirms you' leaves out the need to turn away from what is wrong in God'...

NUTty: Sex ed courses must make ‘positive’ portrayal of gay sex ‘compulsory,’ National Union of Teachers says

Image
LONDON , April 7, 2015  – The British government must “make it compulsory that all schools’ sex education policies include a positive portrayal of same-sex relationships," the UK's National Union of Teachers (NUT) decided at its annual conference on Sunday. Christine Blower , General Secretary of the union, said that “NUT is at the forefront in the campaign for equality of opportunity and fair treatment for all students and staff, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation,” and that all political parties contending in the May election should adopt the union's motion. "The NUT calls for all parties standing in the 2015 General Election to show their commitment to tackling the discrimination faced by both LGBT students and teachers in schools by following the 10-point action plan outlined in the motion. This includes making it compulsory for all schools’ sex education policies to include a positive portrayal of same sex relationships, promoting LGB...

Do kids have the right to a Mum and a Dad?

Image
This month will see some of the first gay marriage ceremonies in the UK , signalling the belief in many people's mind that the gay marriage debate is over and that those in favour have won out. But American Professor Robert Lopez , founder of the International Children's Rights Institute, believes that a new debate is now just beginning, over the rights and wrongs of gay and lesbian couples adopting children to raise as their own. Christian Concern quoted him as saying: "There is no 'right to a child' or 'right to be a parent' or 'right to adopt', but a child has a natural born right to a mum and dad." He has a particular investment in this issue, having been raised by two women in a lesbian relationship, and he has come to the UK to make his case. Christian Today spoke to him about his beliefs and why he holds them. CT: Why do you feel the need to go as far as to call it a "right" to have a mother and a father figure? RL: It is a ...

Street preacher arrested in Scotland for condemning homosexuality

Image
DUNDEE, Scotland,  – Tony Miano, an American evangelical street preacher and former policeman, must be getting used to being arrested for his beliefs in Britain. Miano was arrested January 8 th , in Dundee, Scotland , and remanded in custody to appear before Dundee Sheriff Court the next day. Charged with a public order offence and held for nearly 30 hours, Miano was allowed to return to the US on the condition that he returns to the court in April. A spokesman for the legal advocacy group Christian Concern told LifeSiteNews.com that the situation of street preachers being arrested is getting out of hand, with police making what are, essentially, arbitrary arrests. Tony Miano Garry Selfridge, spokesman for Christian Concern said that the Dundee court “is being a little pathetic and backward” in allowing the proceedings to move forward. “There is an overall blanket of political correctness that cloaks the whole establishment in the UK , so the police are not well adv...

Christian medical adviser challenges dismissal over homosexuality views

Image
A Christian doctor struck off an adoption panel for her views on homosexuality is petitioning to have her case heard in the European Court of Justice . Dr Sheila Matthews, a paediatrician, was dismissed from Northamptonshire Council Adoption Panel, after she asked to abstain from voting on the placement of children with homosexual couples because it went against her professional and Christian beliefs that it is in the best interests of a child to be placed with a father and mother, rather than a homosexual couple. Although she was partially reinstated in her job following outcry over the council’s decision, she was no longer allowed to continue as a full member of the adoption panel, a move which prompted her to resign in March this year. Christian Concern , which is backing her case, said Dr Matthews had effectively been “excluded” from practising her vocation because of her Christian views and her professional judgement. She is going before an Employment Tribunal in Leicester ...

Judge: Firing teacher who called homosexuality a sin reflects ‘modern British values of tolerance’

Image
In 2010, high school science teacher Robert Haye was dismissed from his position at Deptford Green School after he responded to questions from high school students aged 15-16 by saying that homosexual activity is a “sin." Teaching authorities subsequently banned him “indefinitely” from teaching at any high school in the country, a ban that was later endorsed by Education Secretary Michael Gove . Robert Haye faces discrimination in the UK . A London High Court rejected Haye’s appeal, saying that his comments were “inappropriate” and that he was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct, the campaign group Christian Concern reported, noting that this is the first case of its kind. Haye, a Seventh Day Adventist , also reportedly told students that it those Christians who worship on Sundays are “basically worshipping the devil." Haye cannot apply to return to the classroom for two years. In his judgment, Mr. Justice King said that teachers must present posi...

LONDON , October 19, 2012  - A judge has ruled that the Christian owner of a bed and breakfast broke equality laws in refusing a bed to a homosexual couple and ordered her to pay £3,600 in damages. Susanne Wilkinson, who owns the Swiss B &B in Cookham , Berkshire, has been ordered to pay compensation for “injury to feelings” to two men she turned away, because she rents rooms in her family-owned business only to married couples . Last January, homosexual couple Michael Black, 63, and John Morgan, 58,  sued Mrs. Wilkinson for discrimination  after she informed the two men that “it is against my convictions for two men to share a bed.” She added, “This is my private home.” Mrs. Wilkinson returned their deposit and asked them, politely, to leave. Responding to the ruling, Mrs. Wilkinson said, “Naturally, my husband and I are disappointed to have lost the case and to have been ordered to pay £3,600 in damages for hurt feelings. We have the option to appeal, ...
