Kentucky gay ‘marriage’ ruling may spell trouble for Mitch McConnell

Image
LOUISVILLE, KY , February 12, 2014  - A judicial ruling that  Kentucky must recognize same-sex "marriages" conducted in other nations  or U.S. states may spell more trouble for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell . U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn II offered a strongly worded rebuke to tradition and religion on Wednesday, saying the state amendment -- which was approved by three-quarters of state voters -- "demeans" homosexuals. The Madison Project , a national grassroots organization that favors traditional marriage, noted that President George H.W. Bush appointed Heyburn to the bench in the early 1990s following a recommendation “from Senator Mitch McConnell who used him as a special counsel while serving as Judge Executive of Jefferson County in the early ‘80s. Thanks to McConnell, Kentucky is being subjected to the tyranny of the liberal agenda without a vote. ” (Emphasis in original.) The group, along with the Senate Conservatives F...

The Story:  One of the stars of the biggest cable show of all time has been  suspended by the A&E Network following his recent comments on homosexuality . The Background:   In a recent interview with  GQ  magazine , Phil Robertson, the  67-year-old patriarch of the Robertson family, was asked, "What, in your mind, is sinful?" Robertson responded: Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men," he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right. [. . .] We never, ever judge someone on who's going to heaven, hell. That's the Almighty's job. We just love 'em, give 'em the good news about...

New Jersey Senate pulls bill codifying same-sex “marriage”

Image
The New Jersey Senate has pulled a bill that would legislate same-sex "marriage" in the state. Political leaders cited advice from national same-sex "marriage" advocacy organization Lambda Legal , and said they plan to resume their efforts in the 2014-2015 legislative session. New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg  said she decided not to pursue S. 3109 on Tuesday because Lambda Legal said the judicial decision that allowed same-sex “marriage” licenses to be given was satisfactory. Some Democrats in the state Senate, including Weinberg,  had expressed concerns  that the September 27 Superior Court decision failed to respect religious freedom. Mercer County Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson found same-sex "marriage" to be a constitutional right, and when the state Supreme Court strongly indicated it would allow homosexuals to receive marriage licenses, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie backed off from his previous strong efforts in fa...

New York GOP Senate to make gay ‘marriage’ decision today

Image
Image via Wikipedia New York’s Senate Republicans are discussing among themselves today whether they will take up Gov. Andrew Cuomo ’s same-sex “ marriage ” bill, or kill the legislation by tabling it. Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R- Rockville Centre ) told the  New York Times  that the GOP would discuss what to do about the measure among themselves behind closed doors. “This will be decided by the conference, when they’re going to bring it out,” Skelos said Thursday morning. “I expect it will be a lengthy conference, a thoughtful conference.” The Democrat -led Assembly approved a same-sex “marriage” bill last week. Although the Senate appears divided 31 – 31 over same-sex “marriage”, Cuomo has expressed confidence that a few more Republicans will break with their colleagues and his legislation will pass when the votes are finally counted. Any debate on same-sex “marriage” will likely take place after the Senate finishes voting on leftover legislation and could...

To vote or not to vote on gay ‘marriage’? New York’s GOP Senators may decide Wednesday

Image
Image via Wikipedia Senate Republicans in New York continue to remain silent about whether they will kill the same-sex “marriage” bill, or pass an amended version with more religious protections before going into summer recess. Since Republicans control the Senate chambers 32 – 30, they can block the legislation from coming to a floor vote, but they are staying tight-lipped about their intentions, leaving both friends and foes of gay “marriage” sitting on pins and needles. The Democrat -dominated Assembly already approved legalizing same-sex “marriage” last Wednesday, in an 80 – 63 vote. Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Lt. Gov. Bob Duffy, both Democrats, have exerted enormous personal pressure on Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to pass the same-sex “marriage” bill. Already those efforts have yielded success as two Republicans, Sens. Jim Alesi of Monroe County, and Roy MacDonald of Saratoga County, have joined the Democrat caucus to support same-sex “marriage,” putting the balance o...
