Commercial surrogacy is illegal in the Netherlands. but Rob Jetten's leftist political party D66 claims that no laws have been broken. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and homosexual partner Nicolas Keenan announced in a joint Instagram post on October 19 that they are expecting a child via surrogate. “Someone very special is on the way,” the two men announced . “See you in 2027, little one. There are no words big enough to thank our egg donor, our surrogate mum Lisa and both their families. None of this would be possible without you.” The post included a photo of the men holding a sonogram image, and another with the child’s mother standing in between them. In the past, the firm has used photographs that exploit naked or near-naked women; more recently, they have shown men in homoerotic poses. The southern Dutch town of ’s-Hertogenbosch ( Den Bosch for short) has been chosen to host the Netherlands’ “ Pink Saturday ” on June 24. The capital of the historically Catholic province of North-Brabant will welcome LGBT persons from all over the country and beyond with a first-ever event: an ecumenical prayer service for participants to be held in the Catholic cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in the presence of Bishop Gerard de Korte .
