Republican AGs reject Holder’s legal advice, vow to defend marriage

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 26, 2014  – The Obama administration's newest foray into the culture wars has sparked a major pushback by the nation's Republican attorneys general. In an interview with  The New York Times   on Monday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder   advised   state attorneys general that they could refuse to defend state bans on same-sex “marriage.” He compared the decision to not defend state bans with not defending Jim Crow laws in the 1950s South.  On Tuesday, the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) slammed Holder's remarks. Montana Attorney General Tim Fox said, “What General Holder is asking state attorneys general to do is accept a gratuitously offered nonbinding legal opinion on an issue that has not been decided by a national court of competent jurisdiction at this time.” In other words, according to Fox, Holder is expressing his personal opinion on a matter that has not yet been decided by a court with ...

Obama administration to supersede state rights by granting same-sex ‘marriage’ benefits nationwide

WASHINGTON, D.C. , February 10, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Same-sex “marriage” advocates are one step closer to full federal recognition of their relationships after Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Obama administration would provide benefits and services regardless of state laws about marriage. On Saturday, Holder said that the federal government would “strive to ensure that same-sex marriages receive the same privileges, protections and rights as opposite-sex marriages.” A Human Rights Campaign blog post  said  this “will mean that the federal government will treat married lesbian and gay couples the same as heterosexual couples when they do things like file for bankruptcy, testify in court or visit family in prison.” The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which was signed by President Clinton two decades ago, was overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) last year. The majority ruled in favor of state independence on the mat...

Obama team’s recognition of Utah same-sex marriages shows need for state marriage defense act

Just yesterday, bipartisan legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives that does just that. The “ State Marriage Defense Act of 2014 ,” HR 3829, requires the federal government to respect state laws on marriage. The Act requires the federal government to look to the laws of the state where citizens reside to determine the definition of “marriage.” It states that the term “marriage” shall “not include any relationship which that State, territory, or possession does not recognize as a marriage, ...

Meet Obama’s same-sex ‘marriage’ ring leader

Official photographic portrait of US President Barack Obama (born 4 August 1961; assumed office 20 January 2009) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) January 13, 2014 ( FRC ) - Justice Secretary Eric Holder was already held in contempt of Congress -- but a Supreme Court reprimand may not be far behind. Regardless of where the justices fall on the question of same-sex "marriage," they probably had to pick their jaws up off the floor after the country's chief law enforcer put the Court's latest marriage decisions through the paper shredder and promised to validate Utah's same-sex "weddings"  after  the Court's stay on counterfeit marriages. In plain rebellion to the justices' June ruling, Holder announced that DOJ would take matters into its own hands and offer more than 1,000 federal benefits to couples, who, under state law, aren't even legally married! Back in December, Judge Robert Shelby took a wild leap, declaring Utah's marriage am...

Obama admin. announces it will recognize Utah gay ‘marriages’ after state says it won’t

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , January 10, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder   has announced  that the federal government will recognize same-sex “marriages” contracted during the brief period between December and January  when such unions took place legally  in Utah , before the U.S. Supreme Court   put a halt  to them. The announcement comes two days after Utah state officials announced that they  would not recognize the “marriages”  while the state’s challenge to a District Court ruling that struck down Utah’s voter-approved traditional marriage amendment makes its way through the courts. “I am confirming today that, for purposes of federal law, these marriages will be recognized as lawful and considered eligible for all relevant federal benefits," said Attorney General Holder (The Idiot) In  a statement , Holder said his decision to grant “married” Utah same-sex couples federal marriage benefits was based upon t...

Pro-homosexual marriage advocates pick and choose laws they support!

Image
English: Anthony Kennedy, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Ever since the US Supreme Court invalidated the federal definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, we've expected lawsuits would be filed in federal court challenging state laws that also define marriage in the traditional way. Our expectations have certainly been met; over a dozen such lawsuits have now been filed. What saddens me most about these lawsuits is that some of our elected officials entrusted with defending the laws of the land have chosen to abandon their oaths of office and state law on marriage. In fact, the Attorneys General of both Illinois and Pennsylvania have declared that they will not defend marriage in federal court. They are following the disgraceful path of Attorney General Eric Holder , who refused to defend our federal definition of marriage, and Jerry Brown in California, whose refusal to defend Proposition 8 led...

Obama, transgender toilet and homosexual agenda

Pro-family leaders reacted with stunned disbelief this week to the news of a settlement in the case of a Southern California girl whose parents filed a federal civil rights complaint against their local school district after their daughter was not allowed to sleep in a hotel room full of boys during field trips, despite her belief that she is a boy trapped in a girl's body. After two years of investigation by the Obama administration's Department of Justice, the Arcadia Unified School District   agreed to a settlement  in which they admit no wrongdoing, but will allow the teenage girl, who is about to enter ninth grade, to use the facilities of her preferred sex rather than her biological one, as well as to participate in activities intended for boys only. Additionally, they will provide sensitivity training for their staff and faculty and add “gender identity” to the definition of “gender discrimination” in the district’s anti-discrimination policies. That means fro...

Politico: Gay donors/activists mainstay of Obama re-election effort

Image
Image via Wikipedia Donors in the homosexual community are providing critical activist and financial support to President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection efforts, according to Politico . Politico  reports  that homosexual groups are compensating for the loss of enthusiasm (and donors) that Obama faces on the political left, and the White House is taking full advantage of the situation. Although deeply unhappy with the president for most of his term, homosexual activists have changed their tune since Obama repealed the 1993 ban on homosexuals serving in the military and dropped his administration’s defense of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Obama  signed  the repeal of the congressional ban (often associated with a Pentagon enforcement policy called “ Don’t ask, don’t tell ”) in December 2010, allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military once the service chiefs had certified the military was ready. Obama’s decision to have Attorney General Eri...
