Qld Government Australia - What makes the existence of ex-gays so dangerous?

Image
What is it that makes the very existence of ex-gays so dangerous? And why is there a concerted, effort to block counseling for those with unwanted same-sex attractions? If you help a gay person back to normal life you can go to prison for 12 months! Why is counseling in every other area of life good but counseling sinful homosexuality subject to prison? Before you think I’m exaggerating, consider the following examples. On the social media front, it is now reported that, “Facebook and its photo platform Instagram are banning any content advertising or promoting treatment to overcome unwanted same-sex attraction.” According to Facebook spokeswoman Stephanie Otway, “This is a global policy. The policy is still under development, but for now it will be applied to content that promotes conversion therapy when we become aware of it.” Ex-gay colleagues have already informed me that their content is being removed from Facebook and their pages are being shut down, simply for stating that chan...

Christian ministry sues for defamation over ‘hate group’ designation

Image
The Christian pro-family organization D. James Kennedy Ministries is filing a defamation lawsuit against the leftist Southern Poverty Law Center for labeling it a “ hate group .” D. James Kennedy Ministries (DJMK), formerly known as Coral Ridge Ministries, is among   dozens of organizations   opposing the LGBTQ agenda, radical Islam, and uncontrolled immigration that have been tarred as “hate” organizations by the SPLC, which is now receiving   millions of dollars   in new funding in the wake of the recent racial violence in Charlottesville, Virginia . The organizations are   listed alongside   racist and anti-Semitic extremist groups like Aryan Nation and the Ku Klux Klan . The lawsuit, filed August 10 in federal District Court in Alabama, charges the SPLC with “trafficking in false or misleading descriptions of the services offered under the Ministry's trademarked name, and for defamation pursuant to Alabama common law arising from the publicati...

Confused Exodus International leader doesn't believe scripture?

Image
The leader of a renowned ministry dedicated to helping those with same-sex attractions leave the homosexual lifestyle has done an about-face, apologizing to the gay community and announcing his ministry will be closing down. Alan Chambers , 41, announced on Lisa Ling ’s “Our America” program on the Oprah Winfrey network that he is “deeply sorry” for his involvement in promoting reparative therapies aimed at changing sexual preferences. He now denounces reparative therapy as damaging and traumatic. Just hours after Chambers’s apology was made public, Exodus International announced it would close its doors after three decades of ministry. “Exodus is an institution in the conservative Christian world, but we’ve ceased to be a living, breathing organism,” Chambers said in a statement announcing the group’s disbanding. “For quite some time we’ve been imprisoned in a worldview that’s neither honoring toward our fellow human beings, nor biblical.” “For these reasons,” wrote Chambers, “t...

Exodus and Confused Theology

Image
Exodus International (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) In recent weeks the leadership at Exodus International , an international Christian ministry that reaches out to those struggling with same-sex attraction , has distanced itself from so-called reparative or "conversion" therapy. Now, a Christian theologian is calling for the removal of Alan Chambers , the president of Exodus. Professor Robert Gagnon, an associate professor at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary , recently said Chambers is offering false hope to gays and lesbians by stating that their salvation is assured. Gagnon cites a 2011 interview with journalist Lisa Ling where Chambers said "people living an active gay Christian life will be in heaven with me if they have a relationship with Jesus Christ ." Gagnon added that Chambers made similar remarks when he spoke with the Gay Christian Network Conference in January 2012. In a 35-page article on Chambers, Gagnon said, "Alan's approach of provid...

What Does Exodus Believe About Sexual Orientation & Change?

Image
Image via Wikipedia Exodus International believes…  that the decision to stop acting on one’s same-sex attractions and pursuing a life centered on Christ is not about one particular method, but ultimately about a relationship with Jesus Christ and a resolution to live in congruence with biblical teaching on sexuality. We believe homosexuality to be a multi-causal issue and that any individual can experience freedom over impulses through the support of caring individuals and the transformative power of Jesus Christ. Exodus International provides resources, spiritual discipleship and support to those seeking this alternative. Exodus is a worldwide network of people who have chosen to put their faith in Christ, deny the power of sin and temptation and pursue a life and identity beyond any past or present struggle with same-sex attraction.  We are the largest coalition of Christians and organizations dealing with this topic in the world today. What is reparative therapy or ...
