Devout Christians awarded damages after their application to become foster parents was rejected

Image
A Western Australian tribunal has found a Christian couple was discriminated against when their application to foster a child was rejected over their view that homosexuality is a sin. Key points: A Perth couple whose application to become foster parents was rejected has been awarded $6,000 in damages The foster agency, Wanslea Family Services, rejected the application due to the couple's views on same-sex relationships  They are members of the Free Reformed Church which is described as being on the 'conservative end'  Byron and Keira Hordyk applied to become short-term foster carers in 2017 through Wanslea Family Services, a not-for-profit association contracted by the state government to assess foster carer applications. During the application process, the Hordyks shared their views that, according to the seventh commandment, “Thou shalt not commit adultery”, sexual relations can only occur between a man and a woman who are married and that same-sex relationships were sinf...

Switzerland votes to criminalize ‘homophobia’

Image
The Swiss have voted by a large majority to make “homophobia” a criminal offense.  On Sunday, 63.1 percent of the voters who turned out for several popular initiative referendums agreed that “discrimination,” “hate speech” and other forms of public “insults” aimed at homosexuals because of their “sexual orientation” will be punishable by a fine and up to three years’ imprisonment. During the run-up to Sunday’s vote, the Catholic hierarchy in Switzerland was mostly conspicuous by its absence from the debate.  With the new legislation, the aggravating circumstance of a victim's homosexuality will be added to the original 1994 anti-discrimination and hate speech law in Switzerland's penal code that already criminalized discrimination on the basis of race or religion. How it will be applied in practice will be determined by jurisprudence. To date, sanctions for discrimination and hate speech under the original law are usually limited to fines, only rarely moving up the scal...

Vimeo removes Christian church’s account over videos critical of homosexuality

Image
Popular video hosting site Vimeo removed the account of Fairview Baptist Church, located in Oklahoma after the organization hosted a conference criticizing homosexuality. The "God's Voice"  conference , hosted by Fairview Baptist in Oklahoma City on February 22–23, 2019, was intended to "bring biblical clarity to the recent confusion surrounding the issues of 'revoiced' sexuality and 'LGBTQ+ Christians.'" Fairview Baptist calls God's Voice a "response to the liberalizing message from evangelical elites on matters of sexual ethics." Speakers at the God's Voice conference included syndicated radio host Janet Mefferd, Rev. Thomas Littleton of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. Michael Gryboski of the Christian Post reported Friday, March 15 that Vimeo  had restored  the account and some 300 of Fairview Baptist's videos, but all of the videos from the God...

House Republicans object to LGBT provisions of new NAFTA trade deal

Image
Among the accomplishments President Donald Trump is most proud of is renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. But a group of GOP lawmakers voiced concerns over the ramifications of language about LGBT “discrimination.” At issue is Chapter 23 of the deal, under which all three countries agree to “implement policies that protect workers against employment discrimination on the basis of,” among other things, “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.” “We recognize your tireless efforts to protect the American worker and the American economy,” 38 Republican members of Congress wrote in a November 16 letter to the president. “We are, however, deeply concerned by the unprecedented inclusion” of “sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) language for the first time in a Free Trade Agreement.” “A trade agreement is no place for the adoption of social policy,” the signatories declared, warning that the elevating SOGI cl...

Homosexual lobby want to destroy all Christian ministries

Image
Conservative commentator Lyle Shelton says the closure of a Christian-run wedding magazine shows identity politics has been ‘weaponised.’ The founders of White, Luke and Carla Burrell, claim the magazine was targeted due to its decision to exclude same-sex couples from the publication.  According to the couple, advertisers withdrew support after activists targeted them during online campaigns. Mr. Shelton has told Sky News the closure shows that anyone who doesn’t ‘bow to the rainbow view of the world’ will be the subject of attacks. This is serious. Homosexual lobby made promises nothing would change with the introduction of (fake) gay marriage. We now see this is a total lie. The gay lobby, endorsed by gay politicians want to destroy Christian Education, churches, Christian campsites, Christian charities, Church-run nursing homes with gay anti-discrimination laws.

Religious Freedom amendments introduced in NSW Australia

Image
Today the Rev the Hon Fred Nile , for the Christian Democrat Party, introduced a Bill to add “ religious beliefs or religious activities” into NSW legislation as a prohibited ground of discrimination. The proposed  Anti-Discrimination Amendment (Religious Freedoms) Bill  2018 will add new Parts 3B and 5A into the  Anti-Discrimination Act  1977 (NSW) (“ADA”), making it unlawful in various areas to discriminate on the grounds of religion, or to subject religious bodies to a detriment. The proposals will also make it unlawful to penalise someone for holding views on marriage as the union of a man or a woman, or for holding the view that there are only two genders. The CDP is a minority Party in the NSW Parliament, and the Bill is a Private Member’s Bill , so it is not clear whether it will be fully debated, let alone enacted. But it is an interesting and worthwhile proposal which may lead to clarity in the future on the need for changes to the law of NS...

Lesbian extremist - Equal Employment Commissioner

Image
By now you've probably heard of President Trump's disturbing decision to nominate Chai Feldblum , a radical LGBT extremist, to a critically important civil rights post as a Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission .  This job puts her in the position of shaping federal law to make supreme LGBT claims and to punish Christians and other people of faith who do not want to personally be involved in affirming the gay agenda , such as same-sex 'marriage.' That is exactly what she wants to do. Feldblum was the first out LGBT person to serve on the commission, a federal government agency that issues charges of discrimination and authorizes the filing of discrimination lawsuits. It sometimes differs with other parts of the government – for instance, it still holds that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 , the federal law against sex discrimination, covers discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The Justice Department ,...

Harvard suspends Christian student group for removing lesbian Bible study leader

Image
Harvard has suspended a Christian student group for asking a student leader promoting her lesbian relationship to step down. The school’s Office of Student Life put Harvard College Faith and Action (HCFA) on probation for a year. It is the first time a campus group has been given administrative probation. “HCFA had conducted itself in a manner grossly inconsistent with the expectations clearly outlined in the Student Organization Resource and Policy Guide,” school spokesman Aaron M. Goldman  wrote  in an issued statement.   The Harvard Crimson student newspaper reports that the suspension is “ almost certainly linked ” with a September 2017 incident involving a female student leader who publicized her romance with another woman. The school’s Student Handbook delineates an anti-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation. Although Harvard started as a Bible College with a Pastor Harvard it compromised first with compulsory chapel when it...

Religious Freedom Implications of Same Sex Marriage in Australia

Image
neil Forster presented a paper at a conference on " Freedom of Religion or Belief: Creating the Constitutional Space for Other Fundamental Freedoms" on Friday 15 Feb. The paper, “Protection of Religious Freedom under Australia ’s Amended Marriage Law: Constitutional and Other Issues" is linked here for those who are interested: Freedom of Religion or Belief paper Foster . I argue that, while some religious freedom rights are protected under the amended marriage law , there are some serious gaps in protection for some involved deeply in the celebration of same sex weddings , and also a failure to deal with a range of other issues, such as the ability of faith-based schools to operate in accordance with their fundamental commitments in both engagement of staff and teaching pupils, and whether people who conscientiously believe that same sex relationships are not best for human flourishing will be penalised in the workplace or elsewhere. I note that at least one S...

New Research Debunks The Claim That Your Beliefs Can Kill Gay People

Image
ACCEPT OUR HOMOSEXUALITY - OR WE DIE 12 YEARS TOO SOON - NOW SEEN TO BE FAKE RESEARCH It was a spectacular assertion. A 2014 study published in the journal Social Science & Medicine by a Columbia University researcher asserted that “sexual minorities living in communities with high levels of anti-gay prejudice ” have a “shorter life expectancy of approximately 12 years.” Yes , you heard that right. Being gay in an unwelcoming community takes 12 years off your life! This study was heralded broadly by the press with no critical analysis provided for the reader. Not one mainstream journalist stopped to consider, much less challenge, the sweeping grandeur of this claim. It was used as a blunt object to condemn anyone not keen on the mainstreaming of homosexuality. Quite blunt it was. Reducing another’s life by 12 years by failing to agree with his or her sexual desires is no small charge. But is it legit? Compare This to Other Major Health Conditions First, just consider this...
