Lesbian couple sues Christian retirement community for denying housing application

Image
A “married” lesbian couple is taking a Christian retirement community to court over its requirement that prospective residents abide by Christian moral principles. Friendship Village is a non-profit retirement community “guided by Biblical values” that holds “Faithful Service” as one of its core values, according to its website. Despite the Bible’s unambiguous teachings on homosexuality, Mary Walsh and Bev Nance of Shrewsbury applied in 2016 to move to Friendship Village, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports . Walsh and Nance have been together for 37 years and got “married” in Massachusetts in 2009. After they paid a $2,000 deposit and got placed on a waiting list, they say Friendship Village rejected their application on the grounds that it would violate the community’s “longstanding” policy that only allows cohabitation among parent-child relationships, siblings, or marriages of one man and one woman. So Walsh and Nance have filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern ...

Florida middle school tries to disband immoral gay-straight alliance

LEESBURG, FL, May 14, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A Florida middle school school board, after caving to ACLU pressure by allowing a 14-year-old student to form a gay-straight alliance club, is now trying to disband it. The school had originally ignored student Baysil Siberston’s requests to start the club, but changed its decision following the threat of a lawsuit that alleged the school had violated Siberston’s First and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Now, the school has crafted a new policy permitting only clubs that promote critical thinking, business, and community service. The new policy has not yet been made official or taken affect. The ACLU has threatened lawsuits for other schools similarly resisting the institution of gay-straight alliance clubs in their schools. LifeSiteNews.com reported on such a threat in  Pennsylvania .  In 2008, a North Carolina high school principal resigned after his school agreed to form a gay-straight alliance . America's ne...

ACLU threatens to sue after Pennsylvania school board blocks Gay-Straight Alliance club

CHAMBERSBURG, PA , March 20, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews ) – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is threatening a Pennsylvania school district with legal action after the school board voted 5-4 to block the formation of a “ Gay-Straight Alliance ” (GSA) at a local high school.  The ACLU gave the Chambersburg Area School District a Wednesday deadline to reverse its decision before the ACLU moved forward with the suit.  But on early Wednesday afternoon, a district representative who asked not to be named told LifeSiteNews by phone that the original decision to bar the club still stands.  As to whether the school board might yet change their minds in the face of legal action, the employee said, “No decision has been made at this time.” The ACLU of Pennsylvania and homosexual advocacy group Equality PA originally wrote to the district on March 12 demanding they reverse their decision within three days, or be sued in federal court. According to Witold Walczak ...

ACLU sues to force elementary libraries to display lesbian advocacy book

Image
FARMINGTON, UT , November 15, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The ACLU has  filed a lawsuit  to force a Utah school district to keep a lesbian advocacy book on elementary school library shelves. The ACLU believes kindergarten-age children deserve access to this book. In the Davis School District in Utah, children as young as kindergarten age can check out a homosexual propaganda book called  In My Mothers’ House , about three adopted kids and their lesbian “mothers,” if their parents sign a permission slip. The book was removed from shelves after another Windridge mother complained to school officials when her kindergartner brought it home. It is presently kept behind the counter. This minor obstacle motivated the ACLU to seeking to force the school district to put the book back on its library shelves, making it available to all children without restriction. The only person participating in the “class action” lawsuit is Tina Weber, whose children are enro...

Anti-ACLU (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) LYNDONVILLE, VT , August 24, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The price of following your conscience in Vermont is $30,000. That’s the amount a Roman Catholic family has agreed to pay over a disagreement about hosting a same-sex “wedding” reception at its family inn. An employee for Jim and Mary O’Reilly, a devout Catholic couple, turned down the request of a lesbian couple from New York City to host their “wedding” reception, following a same-sex “marriage” at a Buddhist retreat in Vermont. Attorneys for the inn said that the employee had misrepresented the position of the O’Reillys, and that it was their policy simply to inform couples about their beliefs on marriage, while agreeing to serve anyone who wished it. Although the family emphasized they “treat all people with respect and dignity,” and they serve and employ homosexuals, they said celebrating sexual immorality “goes against everything that we as Catholics believe.” The ACLU sued t...
