Survey suggests young Republicans are turning away from LGBT agenda

Image
Spend enough time on the front lines of the culture wars, and it’s easy to become jaded by a sense that we’re fighting against the current. Unity on the right to life is hamstrung by rampant confusion about tactics, and LGBT activists’ shift from homosexuality to gender fluidity is thanks in no small part to the Right’s near-total surrender to the redefinition of marriage. But every once in a while, we get a reminder that cultural collapse isn’t inevitable. This week, that glimmer of hope came in the form of the Public Religion Research Institute’s latest annual survey of American attitudes on LGBT issues. Overall, the report was nothing to cheer — support for LGBT “nondiscrimination” (by which liberals don’t mean protecting gays or transgenders from actual mistreatment, but conscripting Christians into serving same-sex “weddings” and forcing people to share bathrooms and locker rooms with the opposite sex) has either held firm or risen among most demographics. But there was one...

Five Gay Marriage Myths

Image
Myth #1: Marriage is fundamentally a voluntary union of persons in a committed relationship We tend to think of language as something posterior to thought. A thought comes into your mind and then you find the right words to express it. Anthropologists and neuroscientists are currently doing some fascinating work on the relationship between thought and speech and have discovered that things are a little more complicated. Speech does not merely proceed from our thoughts like a one-way street. Rather, researchers have been finding that there is also traffic flowing in the other direction: how we speak affects how we think about the world on a level that our conscious minds may never even be aware. As psychologist Lera Boroditsky put it in a Wall Street Journal article  summarizing some of this research, “the structures in languages (without our knowledge or consent) shape the very thoughts we wish to express”. There are fascinating examples of this from all over the world, but th...

Bishop says Catholic charities 'dangerously imperiled' by Colorado civil unions bill

Image
English: Great Seal of the State of Colorado (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The archbishop of Denver has warned the passage of a civil unions bill recognizing homosexual partnerships in similar terms to marriage threatens he conscience rights of Coloradans , imperils Catholic charitable efforts, and harms the right of Colorado's children to have a mother and a father. Yesterday the Colorado House of Representatives voted 39-26 to approve  a bill  recognizing homosexual civil unions. The legislation, which provides all the rights of marriage, had previously passed the Democrat-dominated Senate in February. It will now go to the desk of Democratic Governor  John Hickenlooper , who is expected to sign it. Bishop Samuel Aquila In a statement following its passage, Denver Archbishop Samuel Aquila said that the legislation “harms families, civil liberties, and the natural rights of all Colorado’s children.” The bishop said that the legislation has “discarded” th...

HRC trying to fool the public on Homosexual Marriage

Image
English: Mrs. Laura Bush, First Lady of the United States, January 2001 - January 2009. White House photo by Krisanna Johnson (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) In just a few weeks, the Supreme Court will consider whether or not to impose gay marriage on the entire country. That's right — marriage in all 50 states hangs in the balance! Nine Justices will soon rule on whether or not our core civil right to vote for God's vision of marriage will be upheld — and, in California, restored. On March 26, the nine Justices meet to consider oral arguments in the Prop 8 case, as well as the Federal DOMA law.  The bottom line issue for the Court is:  do the voters of California (or nationwide) have the right to define marriage as the union of husband and wife ?   Or, will we be stripped of that right, and this time-tested, cross-cultural, common-sense and — yes, also Biblical — vision of marriage be redefined as just rank and ugly discrimination? No Surprise: HRC Playi...

VIDEO: Dan Savage: America’s ‘bully-in-chief’

Image
Nov. 23, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A leading pro-family group has released  a telling exposé  charging that Dan Savage , the founder of the massively popular ‘ It Gets Better ’ homosexual anti-bullying campaign, is himself the country’s “bully-in-chief.” Savage writes the syndicated sex column   Savage Love , where, in his own words, he “traffics the skeeziest sex practices known to man.” He is famous for his campaign defaming Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rick Santorum by using a technique known as “ Google-bombing ” to associate his name on the search engine with a grotesque aspect of sodomy. In the ‘It Gets Better’ campaign, Savage encouraged people to produce their own short video message to homosexual teens, and won support from celebrities and politicians, including President Obama . By endorsing the campaign, said Savage, Obama was telling “queer kids” that “there’s something wrong with your parents, there’s something wrong with your p...

Union leaders line up behind same-sex ‘marriage,’ Obama

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. ,– Although their membership is evenly split, 90 percent of all union contributions go to the Democratic Party . Now, as it has become a wedge issue in the 2012 presidential campaign, a number of the nation’s largest unions have endorsed same-sex “marriage.” The UAW , AFL-CIO , SEIU, AFSCME , and other top unions have  issued statements supporting same-sex “marriage.”  Many state-level unions have followed suit, particularly in states like  Maryland , where the issue is on the ballot this November. While some unions have backed gay nuptials for a few years, others, such as the UAW,  announced  their support only after President Barack Obama announced his position had changed on the issue. Obama, who had previously opposed redefining marriage, changed his views in May in response to mounting pressure from the homosexual lobby and,  in his words , the role of religion and conversations with his teenage daughters about the i...
