First Catholic diocese rejects openly gay Boy Scout leader

Image
LOUISVILLE, KY ,  -- The Archdiocese of Louisville has rejected a homosexual man ’s application to be a Boy Scout leader , the first reported diocese to do so after the national organization opted to allow gay leaders, resulting in threats of public protests. Greg Bourke reapplied to lead Boy Scout Troop 325 in his home parish of   Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Louisville where he’d been required to resign in 2012 after announcing his sexual orientation,   according   to Religion News Service , but was informed early this month his application was denied. “ My heart is broken that my church would now present the barrier to my returning to my Boy Scout unit,” Bourke said. Bourke, who along with   his partner were among the plaintiffs in the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing homosexual “marriage” across the U.S., said he doesn’t have any legal recourse to contest the archdiocese’s denial of his application, according   to Inside...

Walt Disney World to Boy Scouts: Allow gay Scoutmasters by 2015 or lose our funding

ORLANDO, FL , March 3, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Walt Disney World has decided it will stop funding the local Boy Scouts of America chapter beginning next year unless the childhood group allows open homosexuals to serve as Scoutmasters . The Disney corporation said the BSA violates its non-discrimination policy. Disney World's VoluntEARS program allows employees to trade volunteer work for donations to a charity of their choice. But the scouts will no longer be eligible for these funds. Disney World's VoluntEARS program allows employees to trade volunteer work for donations to a charity of their choice. But the scouts will no longer be eligible for these funds. It is not clear how much money the amusement park provided to the scouts annually. However, that revenue stream may be available again if the scouts change their policy before January 1, 2015. Homosexual groups said the decision is a sign of their growing influence in the culture, especially in the r...

No ‘witchhunt’: New Scout alternative will allow gay scouts, too, but emphasize chastity

Image
Boy Scout leaders who bolted the organization after it voted to allow homosexual boys to join have announced that the new group they are founding will also allow boys who consider themselves gay to join – but the new group will emphasize chastity and “principles and values that reflect a Christian worldview .” John Stemberger, the founder of OnMyHonor.Net – one of the groups leading the formation of the new scouting group, has said, "There is not going to be any acting out, nor is there going to be a witch-hunt.” "We wouldn't expect any flaunting, innuendo, gestures or speech," he added. Adult leaders will be required to sign a statement affirming Christian beliefs . But some warn the new guidelines are not distinct enough to prevent moral confusion among impressionable young scouts. "I do not think it is wise for this new alternative to the Scouts to affirm that homosexual youths are allowed to join, even with the caveat that they won't be ...

Homosexuals will prey on the Boy Scouts of America

Image
History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) February 4, 2013 (Breakpoint.org) - Last week, the Boy Scouts of America announced that they may soon drop their national policy that prohibits openly homosexual Scouts and Scout leaders from participating. Instead, it would allow local units to make the decision. So in other words, Scout units based in Bible-believing churches may continue to uphold their moral and religious convictions on human sexuality. And homosexual youths and adults will no doubt find units based in public schools or more liberal churches that would welcome them. So what does all this mean? First, this change is about survival for the Scouts, not new convictions. For years, the organization has been the target of gay activists and atheist groups . And those characters know exactly how to hit organizations that oppose them where it hurts most: in the pocketbook and in court. Already, many major corporations and charities have been pressured ...

Homosexuals target the Boy Scouts of America

Image
History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) For over a century, the Boy Scouts of America have stood for honor and traditional Judeo-Christian values , and taught millions of young people leadership and life skills by faithfully applying those values in their own lives. It's not surprising that advocates of alternative "values," such as gay and lesbian activists, would challenge these traditional family values. Indeed, homosexual activists argued that the Boy Scouts should change their values and allow openly homosexual men to serve as scoutmasters with the responsibility of mentoring impressionable youth. But thirteen years ago, in  Boy Scouts of America v. Dale , the Supreme Court of the United states upheld the right of the Boy Scouts to make their own decisions about membership, despite a New Jersey law that would have required them to accept an openly homosexual Scoutmaster . The Scouts won that fight, but only because they were ab...
