Illinois one step closer to banning reparative therapy for youth

Image
SPRINGFIELD, IL , March 27, 2014 -- Bringing Illinois one step closer to becoming the third state in the nation to ban reparative therapy for same-sex-attracted minors, a committee in the state House has passed a ban on the controversial treatment. By a vote of 9-6, the House's Human Services Committee passed the Conversion Therapy Prohibition Act. The legislation  was introduced  by lesbian Kelly Cassidy , a Democrat. According to  The Huffington Post , Cassidy previously said the bill was designed "to keep our LGBT youth safe." In a statement , the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) called the legislation "destructive, unethical, and dishonest." The organization, which has opposed the legislation since it was introduced, says "the ultimate motivation behind this legislation is to promote the Leftist assumptions of adult homosexuals who seek to wipe disapproval of homosexual acts from the face of the planet.” IFI also said the bill "is...

Three more counties to begin issuing same-sex ‘marriage’ licenses before legally allowed in Illinois

Image
SPRINGFIELD, IL , March 6, 2014  – At the urging of the state attorney general, clerks in three Illinois counties have announced they will begin issuing marriage licenses to homosexual couples months before they are allowed to by law. The state may not issue legal marriage certificates to same-sex couples until June 1 under a new law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn. But an Obama-appointed U.S. District Judge , Sharon Johnson Coleman, ruled on February 21 that  Cook County could begin legally recognizing gay unions at once , because homosexuals had “already suffered from the denial of their fundamental right to marry.” Illinois State Attorney General Lisa Madigan Although the ruling applied only to Cook County, State Attorney General Lisa Madigan wrote a letter encouraging all county clerks to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples at once. Champaign County Clerk Gordy Hulten, a Republican, announced that he will comply, saying what is true for one count...

Gay couples can ‘marry’ before law takes effect, Obama-appointed judge rules

Image
CHICAGO, February 24, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A federal judge appointed by Barack Obama has ruled that homosexuals in Chicago can get “married” starting immediately – even though the state law recognizing same-sex “marriage” has not yet gone into effect. The bill creating same-sex “marriage” in Illinois , which proponents dubbed the “Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act,” does not provide for homosexual nuptials to be recognized until June 1. U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman, an Obama appointee But U.S. District Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman said she decided to allow homosexual couples to obtain marriage licenses at once, because there had been no legal objection in her court and homosexuals had “already suffered from the denial of their fundamental right to marry.” Another federal judge ruled last year that homosexuals who had medical conditions that would likely allow them to die could receive a marriage license before the law had formally been c...

Using the pope’s comments to justify gay ‘marriage’ is ‘disgraceful’: San Francisco archbishop

Image
The U.S. bishops' leader on the subject of marriage and family says that it is “disgraceful” that an Illinois Catholic lawmaker recently  invoked Pope Francis to defend her vote to redefine marriage . Earlier this month,  Illinois legislators voted to change the legal definition of marriage  to include homosexuals. At the time State Representative Linda Chapa LaVia said, "As a Catholic follower of Jesus and the pope, Pope Francis, I am clear that our Catholic religious doctrine has at its core love, compassion, and justice for all people.” Governor Pat Quinn , who is also a Catholic as well as a Democrat, signed the bill into law. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco , chairman of the USCCB 's Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage,  said  it was “disgraceful that some legislators would manipulate the words of Pope Francis to suggest that he would support marriage redefinition.” Abp. Cordileone cited  t...

Is opposing same-sex marriage is bigotry?

Image
Same Sex Marriage (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Opposition to same-sex marriage is not based on bigotry but on good reason. Consider murder, rape, and incest. Our laws rightly discriminate against those behaviors because those behaviors are harmful. Imagine murderers , rapists , or the incestuous calling us “bigots” for enacting those laws. Such laws are the antithesis of bigotry. Bigotry involves pre-judging something for no good reason, but laws against murder, rape, and incest are based on good reason and evidence. Namely, we reasonably conclude that the health and welfare of the public are higher values than allowing individuals to do whatever they want. The same holds true with preserving marriage. The health and welfare of the public are higher values than allowing individuals to marry whomever they want. We don’t discriminate in favor of natural marriage and against same-sex marriage out of bigotry or bias, but because we are sensible human beings who draw on thousands o...

Homosexual Marriage Arguments - Truthful Slogans?

Image
Homosexual activists have done a great job advancing their cause with slick moralistic slogans about equal rights, discrimination, and so forth. As we will see, few, if any, of the pro-gay marriage slogans tell the truth. They sound good to a passive audience, but upon closer analysis, they are exposed as half-truths and deceptive distortions. The activists have been able to get away with that because our fast-paced lives and sound-bite media provide the perfect environment for propaganda to replace truth. It only takes ten seconds to utter a lie, but it can often take ten minutes to provide enough evidence to explode that lie. The problem for the truth is that there is no such thing as a ten-minute sound bite (that’s why this is a book, not a slogan). Gay Marriage Arguments - False Premises  The questions below help expose the false premises behind arguments for gay marriage. Take a minute to marinate on each of these questions and consider how you would respond. If you are ho...

Is there a demonic spirit behind homosexuality?

Image
Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Springfield Diocese held a rare public exorcism service at the Cathedral on Wednesday afternoon, at the same time Governor Pat Quinn was expected to sign Illinois’s same-sex “marriage” bill into law. An exorcism is a casting out of evil.  Usually, an exorcism is performed on an individual believed to have been corrupted by evil spirits, but in an interview with the  Chicago Tribune , diocesan spokeswoman Kathie Sass explained that Wednesday’s service was to be a general exorcism “specifically designed to pray for the limitation of the work of the devil and the work of evil in the world.” Bishop Paprocki said that under certain circumstances, a bishop may judge a cultural situation sufficiently grave to warrant a public exorcism. Citing remarks by Pope Francis, he said gay 'marriage' clearly fits the bill . She warned that anyone hoping to see spinning heads or projectile vomiting at the service, as portrayed in the gri...

Lesbian Lawmaker Voted Against Hawaii's Same-Sex Marriage Bill

Image
Hawaii (Photo credit: tico_manudo ) Hawaii overtook Illinois yesterday as the latest American state to legalize homosexual marriage (raising the total to nearly 1 in 3 states). But more unexpectedly, given that Hawaii was one of the first states where the issue surfaced, a Hawaii state representative has caused waves for becoming the first openly gay lawmaker to vote against a state's same-sex marriage bill. Jo Jordan voted against SB1 because she said its exemptions were "too narrow," especially regarding religious freedom. "It wasn't protective enough for everybody," Jordan told Honolulu Magazine , later noting, "I'm not here to protect the big churches or the little churches, I'm saying we can't erode what's currently out there. We don't want to scratch at the religious protections at all, because if we don't create a measure that's bulletproof, or as close to bulletproof as possible, then the measure will go t...

Gay ‘marriage’ won’t be legal in Wisconsin ‘anytime soon,’ Governor Scott Walker says

Image
The state of Wisconsin will not change its definition of marriage “anytime soon,” according to Republican Governor Scott Walker . Although state voters enacted a constitutional marriage protection amendment in 2006 with 59 percent of the vote, and polls show a majority of state residents do not support redefining marriage, the media asked the governor to address the issue this weekend at the National Governors Association meeting in Milwaukee. Changing the state constitution “requires two consecutive sessions of the legislature, and ultimately, a vote of the people. I just don't see that being an issue that's going to be addressed anytime soon,” he said. During a break at the meeting, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn , a Democrat and a Catholic,  called  on the Republican Walker to support gay “marriage” in order to fit in with surrounding states. But the states bordering Wisconsin largely do  not  same-sex “marriage.” Minnesota  changed the defini...
