The bill, C-279, seeks to include “gender identity” and “gender expression” as protected rights in the hate crimes sections of the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code. Since it is a private members bill, government rules stipulate that all such bills are automatically reinstated when a new session of Parliament begins. Bill C-279 was before the Senate, but failed to pass third and final reading before the summer break. Harper made the announcement that he plans to ask the Governor General to prorogue Parliament at a  news conference in Whitehorse  on Monday. WESTMINSTER , July 16, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The House of Lords passed the coalition government’s gay “marriage” bill last night without a formal vote. The bill will now make a brief stop this evening in the House of Commons for approval of the Peers’ amendments, after which it is expected to receive Royal Assent by the end of the week. After granting foreign immoral same-sex ‘marriage,’ Canadian Senate now approves gay divorce bill

Image
Legislation tabled by the Conservative government last year to allow foreign homosexual couples to divorce after taking advantage of the country’s liberal same-sex “marriage” law has sailed through the Senate. It had previously escaped a word of debate in the House of Commons . C-32  will amend the Civil Marriage Act so that the “marriages” of foreign same-sex couples who travel to Canada for the ceremony will be considered valid in Canada, “even if one or both of the non-residents do not, at the time of the marriage, have the capacity to enter into it under the law of their respective state of domicile.” Rob Nicholson The bill allows a “new divorce process” to be established that “allows a Canadian court to grant a divorce to non-resident spouses who reside in a state where a divorce cannot be granted to them because that state does not recognize the validity of their marriage.” Gwen Landolt, national vice-president of REAL Women Canada, told LifeSiteNews that the ...

House of Lords vote on gay ‘marriage’ ‘too close to call’: vote postponed to Tuesday

Image
This week’s vote in the UK ’s House of Lords on the coalition government’s proposed gay ‘marriage’ law is “too close to call,”  according to   Lord Alli , a staunch supporter of the marriage redefinition bill. Meanwhile, so many Peers want to speak on the bill that the vote has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon. Although the initial vote on legislation that is passed on to the Lords is normally only on the principle of the bill, which is then passed on to committee, opponents of the bill intend to force a formal vote on whether to reject the bill itself – a move that could see the bill defeated outright by 5:00 pm Tuesday. Lord Geoffey Dear, who is spearheading opposition to the bill in the House of Lords, said: “This Bill was not in the Conservative manifesto, has not been subject to a Royal Commission, Green Paper or White paper or any of the normal procedures and safeguards you would expect for legislation of this significance.  Lord Geoffrey Dear "...
