Queensland Police and Homosexual Sin

Image
Gay supporters have marched through Brisbane's Fortitude Valley demanding Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ditch the homosexual marriage plebiscite. Queensland's Deputy Premier Jackie Trad and Health Minister Cameron Dick used the homosexual rally at New Farm Park  as an opportunity to ridicule the Coalition Government but in so doing ridiculed every Queensland person who disagrees with the homosexual agenda. Ms. Trad said the public was questioning why Turnbull wanted to spend millions on a plebiscite when the answer was already clear. But the answer is not clear as every Australian has already voted during the last election on this plebiscite and every Australian has the right to vote and not just the political left leaning elites. Trad incorrectly stated that "a plebiscite will allow for bigotry and hatred to be part of the commentary." But the hatred and bigotry being seen is only coming from gay advocates who are threatening motel staff, and Christian or...

Playing Your Part in the Homosexual Culture Wars

Image
It seems that in the culture wars in general, and the homosexuality debates in particular, we are easily being out-spent, out-gunned, out-maneuvered, and out-manned. This is true in many respects. The other side is awash with funding – often taxpayer funding – and they basically control all the major institutions of power and influence. Thus the mainstream media overwhelmingly is populated by those from the secular left, and seeking to get a countervailing point of view in there is quite difficult indeed. In fact it is basically impossible in many media outlets – “our” ABC being one prime example. Much of the academy is also dominated by the left, and conservative Christians are a very rare breed there. So too in so many other crucial public arenas. All of this, in part, is why the alternative media arose: to try to get a fair hearing in the public square. But when it comes to man-power, we need to qualify things a bit here. The radical left only accounts for a very sma...

Should Christian Schools be forced by law to employ homosexuals?

Image
The law exists to help rulers govern society, and should help those in that society to live peaceably. The law should allow people to live and let live. It should encourage people to get along with one another. However, it is more and more the case that the law is dabbling in questions which are beyond its proper brief and, in doing so, it makes the job of getting along with one another more difficult. One area where this is quite evident is the way the law deals with sexuality and gender. In recent weeks, the Victorian Government has introduced a bill which, according to the Attorney-General Martin Pakula 's second-reading speech, is demonstrative of its commitment "to stand up for people's rights " and to "put equality back on the agenda in Victoria." Broadly speaking, the bill will wind back the current freedoms for religious bodies and schools regarding employment decisions in Victoria's anti-discrimination law (the  Equal Opportunity A...

A license to discriminate: California’s assault on Christian colleges

Image
Earlier this year my BreakPoint colleague, John Stonestreet, told you that the U. S. Department of Education, under pressure from LGBT groups such as the Human Rights Campaign, agreed to create a public, searchable database of Christian colleges and universities that obtained Title IX waivers based on claims of religious freedom. John and others called it a “Christian college hit list” because it will allow LGBT activists to target Christian colleges for harassment and possible legal challenges. Sen. Ron Wyden and several other Democrats in the Senate say the waivers “allow for discrimination under the guise of religious liberty.” Christian colleges, for their part, say the exemptions are nothing new and allow religious schools, for example, to provide male-only or female-only dorms. They fear the database will make them easy targets for those who hate them. You think those fears are overblown? Well, fast-forward to today. The California state Senate has passed a bill that would m...

New Gallup poll tells a tale on the state of our culture, and it’s not good

Image
A  recent Gallup poll  exposed three terrible truths. First, we are not succeeding in transforming hearts and minds to cultivate and sustain a Culture of Life. Second, we are losing the younger generation to materialism, secularism and moral relativism. Third, the moral compass and Christian conscience in America is systematically being phased out of existence while indifference and tolerance of evil fill the void. I readily admit that I usually place little emphasis upon polls; however, the results of this survey highlight and parallel trends we see around the world. Societies are radically rejecting centuries of Judeo-Christian beliefs concerning life and family while embracing a secular view of life and the human person. Let us consider the subject of homosexuality. 61% of Americans of all ages now believe same-sex unions should be recognized by the law as valid, with 83% of 18 to 29 year olds endorsing and defending the lifestyle. 83% of non-religious people poll...
