North Carolina leaders reach deal to repeal transgender bathroom law

Image
A yearlong debate over transgender access to public bathroom and locker room facilities seemed to come to an end late Wednesday as Republicans and Democrats reached a last-minute agreement that will void a controversial North Carolina law .   Gov. Roy Cooper (D), state Senate President Phil Berger (R) and state House Speaker Tim Moore (R) announced Wednesday night they had agreed to repeal House Bill 2 , a measure that blocked local governments from allowing transgender residents to access the bathroom facilities of their choice.   The compromise still prevents local governments and the state's colleges and universities from regulating access to multiple-occupancy restrooms and locker rooms. The measure repeals House Bill 2, which also applied to single-use facilities. "I support the House Bill 2 repeal compromise that will be introduced tomorrow," Cooper said in a statement late Wednesday. "It's not a perfect deal, but it repeals House B...

Roy Cooper wants men in women's change rooms?

Image
Not long ago, North Carolina's governor, Pat McCrory , signed an important common-sense law stopping men from gaining access to intimate facilities like restrooms and showers that are reserved for girls and women. We strongly applaud Governor McCrory‘s leadership, but the left has gone crazy — targeting him for defeat with hateful, orchestrated attacks. Governor McCrory's opponent, state Attorney General Roy Cooper , has come out in favor of allowing men into women's restrooms, and he's raising millions from LGBT extremists. What Roy Cooper isn't telling voters is that he's siding with convicted sex offenders like Chad Sevearance-Turner who helped lead the campaign in Charlotte to open female restrooms and showers to men like him. We've got to stop Roy Cooper and those that are backing his dangerous bathroom policy. That's why NOM has co-sponsored this powerful new TV ad with our friends and allies at the NC Values Coalition. Please watch it now...

N.C. drops ‘bathroom bill’ lawsuit: Why that won’t settle the issue

Image
When a new North Carolina law limiting protections for LGBT people drew fire last spring from critics who described it as an unnecessary “bathroom bill” that violates the rights of transgender people, the state sued the federal government. Gov. Pat McCrory dropped that lawsuit Friday, but the matter is far from settled, as a debate over the rights of transgender Americans rages nationwide. On the same day that North Carolina sued the federal government, the federal government sued North Carolina, alleging its new law, House Bill 2 , constitutes sex-based discrimination in education and employment in violation of three federal laws. That case, filed by the US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, remains active . In dropping the state’s lawsuit, Gov. McCrory’s attorneys noted that the arguments North Carolina raised as plaintiff will be raised again as defendant in the DOJ’s suit. They cited cost-savings for the state and time-savings for the court as reasons to drop the ...

Obama salutes transgender ‘mothers’ in annual Mother’s Day proclamation

Image
President Barack Obama saluted transgender “ mothers ” in his annual Mother's Day proclamation, the first-ever explicit reference to biological males acting as mothers in the history of the annual presidential message. Obama wrote the encomium in the first paragraph of his   statement , released on Friday. “Regardless of sexual orientation , gender identity , or marital status, mothers have always moved our Nation forward and remained steadfast in their pursuit of a better and brighter future for their children,” Obama wrote. In   last year's proclamation , Obama hailed all mothers, “[w]hether married or single, LGBT or straight, biological, adoptive, or foster.” However, his usage appeared to highlight the mother's sexual orientation, not their underlying biology. One pro-life leader said that conflating the two binary sexes in such a public way confuses children. “Now the ' transgendered ,' if they have children, can be celebrated twice a year as...

54 LGBT activists arrested protesting North Carolina privacy law

Image
Fifty-four pro- LGBT activists were arrested protesting North Carolina ’s bathroom privacy law on Monday as the North Carolina legislature began its session. Following a rally outside the state capitol, protestors held sit-ins at state legislators’ offices and then stayed in the building rallying past the end of the day’s legislative session. The passage of House Bill 2 and Governor Pat McCrory ’s subsequent signing of it into law has generated fury from LGBT activists and the left. Local news stations and the Associated Press captured some of the protestors’ actions, which included being carried by police out of the state capitol in plastic handcuffs, shouting, and loudly chanting.  The protestors will be   charged   with second-degree trespassing and one will be charged with resisting arrest, according to Acting General Assembly Police Chief Martin Brock.  They will also be cited for violating building rules or the fire code. Some of the protes...

Bullies-R-Us: PayPal pulls 400 jobs from NC over bathroom law, but keeps business with gay-killing regimes

Image
English: Logo of PayPal. Español: Logotipo de PayPal. Русский: Логотип системы PayPal. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) PayPal , the online payment system, deserves the “hypocrite of the year” award for pulling hundreds of jobs out of North Carolina for a bill refusing men access to women's restrooms while doing business with regimes that kill or imprison homosexuals, according to Rev. Franklin Graham . PayPal has decided not to open a global operations center in Charlotte after Gov. Pat McCrory – a former mayor – signed a bill overturning a city ordinance that would have legally forced businesses to give biological males access to girls' restrooms, showers, and other public intimate accommodations. Since signing the measure, more than 130 businesses have threatened the state with economic sanctions over the bill. “PayPal gets the hypocrite of the year award!” said Rev. Franklin Graham. “PayPal operates in countries including Saudi Arabia , Nigeria, and Yemen for Pete’s...

Bullies-R-US: Washington, NY ban state travel to Mississippi over religious liberty law

Image
Pro LGBT Andrew Cuomo, supports immorality but is not satisfied with that now demands everybody bows to LGBT agenda. Really Mr Bully? The fallout from Mississippi's new religious freedom bill protecting people of conscience from being forced to participate in same-sex ceremonies has turned into a battle of the states. Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant signed the " Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act " on Monday. "I am signing H.B. 1523 into law to protect sincerely held religious beliefs and moral convictions of individuals, organizations, and private associations from discriminatory actions from state government or its political subdivisions," Gov. Bryant explained. Already, New York and Washington have banned certain law-abiding citizens from traveling to Mississippi in an effort to economically blackmail the state. Washington's Governor Jay Inslee and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray have barred state and Seattle city e...

Obama looks to bankrupt North Carolina into LGBT submission

Image
North Carolina is about to square off with a big opponent -- and it has  nothing to do with college basketball. While the Tar Heels are celebrating the chance to play for a national title, the federal government is showing whose team it's on with  new threats over the state's money . Furious that Governor Pat McCrory (R), a bipartisan legislature, and  70 percent of voters  dare to block grown men from girls' bathrooms, the president's team is looking at ways to bankrupt the state into submission. Using federal funds as a club, the Obama administration has perfected a play that's been quite effective at "persuading" local school boards and other governors to reconsider their position on radical LGBT policies. We watched the same cat-and-mouse game play out in Texas, when Health and Human Services tried to zero out the state's Medicaid money after it stripped funds from Planned Parenthood . Now, Washington's sore losers are at it again...

Louisiana gov. will rescind order protecting conscience on gay ‘marriage’: spokesperson

English: Governor Bobby Jindal at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) BATON ROUGE, Louisiana , - A spokesperson for Democratic Governor John Edwards says religious liberty protections enacted under Edwards' predecessor will be reversed "in the near future." The same spokesperson said Edwards is considering a religious exemption in a pending " non-discrimination " executive order that would protect the religious liberty of business owners, religiously-affiliated organizations, and other groups and individuals with sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage and sexuality. According to Deadline, Edwards press secretary Shauna Sanford told the site that the governor "will issue the executive order, but it is in the drafting stage. As far as Jindal’s religious liberty order, the governor intends to rescind it in the near future.” Last year, then-Gov. Bobby Jindal signed an Executive Order ...
