Church of England rejects ‘gay blessings’ and will not ordain clergy in ‘gay marriage’
LONDON , February 18, 2014 – In a surprise move, the main governing body of the Church of England has rejected proposals to create a “blessing” ceremony for same-sex “weddings.” In a guidance issued Saturday on same-sex “marriage,” the House of Bishops also said it “is not willing for those who are in a same sex marriage to be ordained to any of the three orders of ministry.” “Services of blessing should not be provided. Clergy should respond pastorally and sensitively in other ways,” the guidance reads.
