Matthew Vines on the Homosexuality of Genesis 19 and Sodom and Gomorrah

Image
Sodom and Gomorrha, Alte Pinakothek, Room 23 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Mr. Vines says, " Genesis 19 . The actions of the men of Sodom are intended to underscore their cruel treatment of outsiders--not to somehow tell us that they were gay . . . It’s now widely conceded by scholars on both sides of this debate that Sodom and Gomorrah do not offer biblical evidence to support the belief that homosexuality is a sin ." Matthew Vines cites no reference to demonstrate that it is "widely conceded by scholars on both sides of this debate that Sodom and Gomorrah do not offer  biblical  evidence to support the belief that homosexuality is a sin.”  Just saying it doesn't make it so.  In contradiction to his assertion, a quick look into commentaries on Genesis 19 provides the following: The term "sodomy” is derived from this passage. It is widely held that the severity of God ’s judgment of Sodom had to do with the prevalence of homosexuality there. 1 Sodom and...

Homosexual propaganda

Image
English: James Dobson. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The movie “ For the Bible tells me so ” ( forthebibletellsmeso.org ) was shown in my home community of Flint, Michigan in the fall of 2008 as part of a series of gay events called “Out’N About.” Although the movie was billed as a documentary, it was first and foremost a gay propaganda film. The movie has two distinct elements to it. The documentary element examines the lives of five homosexuals and how their immediate families responded to their homosexuality. That part of the movie is actually a documentary, interesting, emotionally moving, and somewhat objective. The other part of the movie is pure gay political propaganda arranged to disparage conservative Christians and present the gay political movement as the enlightened possessors of the real truth about homosexuality. From my observations as a scholar on the gay political movement this movie has the imprint of the gay political organization known as Soulforce ( www.sou...

Polygamy and Homosexual Marriage

Image
Polygamy involves the marriage of more than two persons at the same time. It can take a number of forms. Some are: Polygyny: the marriage of one man with multiple wives. Polyandry: the marriage of one woman with multiple men. Polyamory: An umbrella term that describes a romantic and/or sexual relationship involving multiple partners at the same time. The participants may or may not consider themselves to be married to each other. During debates on the Federal Marriage Amendment in the U.S. and same-sex marriage in both Canada and the U.S. , many opponents to SSM have expressed the belief that if SSM were legalized, polygamy would inevitably follow. For example: Social commentator Stanley Kurtz argued that: "Among the likeliest effects of gay marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to legalized polygamy and 'polyamory' ( group marriage ). Marriage will be transformed into a variety of relationship contracts, linking two, three, or more individuals (however weak...

Beware of the homosexual activist agenda

Image
Nothing less than “complete and total acceptance!” This often is the answer given when homosexual activists are asked what they are seeking from the public in general. Such activists equate acceptance with civil liberties and equality. They believe that those individuals who do not accept the homosexual “lifestyle” are committing the unpardonable sin—the sin of intolerance (see Bloom, 1987, p. 25). In fact, certain school systems today actively teach youngsters the idea that we must embrace every concept that society popularizes, else we will be unloving and intolerant. Thus, many children are quietly convinced from a very young age that if they do not give everyone “complete and total acceptance,” then they are bigoted and mean spirited. Using books like  Heather Has Two Mommies  or  Daddy’s Roommate ,  teachers have begun instructing that there are essentially no right or wrong actions when it comes to relationships and families. Anything goes, as long as “lo...
