Christian colleges & gender identity: the next assault on religious freedom?

Image
You’ve probably heard of Title IX , the federal law signed by President Nixon in 1972 “that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.” Title IX is probably best known for its effect on women’s athletics by mandating equitable treatment with men’s teams. Of course, discrimination against women and girls on the basis of their sex is a bad thing, and so Title IX—though not a perfect piece of legislation—has done a  lot  of good. But the federal government has a habit of extending legislation beyond its intended reach, and that’s what is happening right now with Title IX. The Department of Education, under pressure from LGBT groups such as the Human Rights Campaign and some legislators, has agreed to create a public, searchable database of Christian colleges and universities that obtained Title IX waivers based on claims of religious freedom. These exemptions—which, for example, allow religious schools to pro...

Obama administration investigating sergeant who said the Bible condemns homosexuality

HUNTSVILLE, December 7, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) has launched a federal investigation over a conversation between a Huntsville JROTC instructor and a lesbian student about the Bible and homosexuality .  1st Sgt. Lynn Vanzandt. Last April, Virgil Grissom High School student Taylor Sisk, 15, asked a local homosexual activist to file a complaint on her behalf after 1st Sgt. Lynn Vanzandt allegedly told her that he believed the Bible says homosexuality is a sin.  It is unclear how the conversation began.  Sisk, who leads her school’s Gay-Straight Alliance club, claimed she was talking to another girl about wanting to live in San Francisco when Vanzandt made his remarks.  Other witnesses have said the girls directly asked Vanzandt his opinion on homosexuality. Sisk claimed they then asked him to stop talking about it and, when he refused, her friend ran crying from the room.  Vanzandt is reported to have ap...

No evidence that anti-bullying legislation works: new report

English: A map of Canada exhibiting its ten provinces and three territories, and their capitals. (Lambert conformal conic projection from The Atlas of Canada) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) OTTAWA , May 24, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - With legislation to combat bullying in schools currently being hotly debated in Ontario , and with many other provinces promising to consider such legislation, an investigation  into anti-bullying policies and legislation across North America by the  Institute of Marriage and Family Canada  (IMFC) has found that the effectiveness of these policies remains unproven. The report , titled “The limits of anti-bullying legislation : A cross-Canada assessment of what legislation can—and can’t—do,” chronicles the position of Canadian provinces with regards to anti-bullying measures and legislation, and examines whether bullying policies and legislation actually work across North America. “Politicians are falling all over themselves to introd...

Obama education secretary pushes gay groups in public schools

Image
Image via Wikipedia The Obama administration ’s head of education has encouraged all U.S. school districts to host student groups that affirm homosexuality . In a letter to educators June 14 picked up by  CNSNews.com , Education Secretary Arne Duncan said that “gay-straight alliance” ( GSA ) groups “can play an important role in promoting safer schools and creating more welcoming learning environments.” The letter, issued from the department’s Office of Civil Rights , emphasized that the Equal Access Act was “rooted in principles of equal treatment and freedom of expression” and would therefore protect secondary schools that sanctioned homosexual groups.   http://www2.ed.gov/policy/elsec/guid/secletter/110607.html “I encourage every school district to make sure that its administrators, faculty members, staff, students, and parents are familiar with these principles in order to protect the rights of all students — regardless of religion, political or philosophical...

Homosexual non-biblical agenda

Image
Image via Wikipedia The following websites do not all reflect the views of this blog. The Bible is clear on the sin of homosexuality and readers need to be clearly aware of the gay agenda.  We pray that God will reveal his grace and mercy on those who call upon his name. No violence just prayer. No hate but prayer. I’m coming out as a “homosceptic”  - Mercator Dictionaries need a new word to describe disagreement with some of the key precepts of the gay lobby. The Urban dictionary defines a “homosceptic” as “a member of society who does not hate homosexuals, but generally does not agree with the principle of homosexuality in moral and ethical terms”. The Left’s Dirty Little Secret   By Robin of Berkeley The article exposed an unseemly aspect of the 60’s, one that isn’t touted in the flattering history books.  The dirty little secret was the widespread sexual abuse of children. They camouflage abuse with lofty concepts, such as “diversity ” and “social justice....

Yale University sexual hostile post-modern environment

Image
Image via Wikipedia For some time now, I’ve been telling you that the Christian worldview is the only worldview that provides us with a rational way to live in the world. It’s the only worldview that we can live with. We simply can’t live with the logical outcomes of other worldviews like secular naturalism, new age-ism, or Freudianism . And thanks to the daily news, I’m never short of material to prove it. A group of mostly female students is suing Yale University for allowing a “sexually hostile environment” to exist on campus. The women, of course, have a point. After all, when frat boys are allowed to parade around the old campus chanting “No Means Yes,” or to hold up signs that read “We Love Yale Sluts,” I guess you could say that’s a sexually hostile environment. But may I ask a question? What did you expect? The disgusting, intimidating behavior at Yale—and on many college campuses —is a classic example of the post-modern impasse. For nearly 50 years, academia, the...
