Finnish politician opens up about police investigating her for defending biblical view of homosexuality

Image
Back in May, I wrote a column for First Things on the ongoing persecution of Finnish politician Päivi Räsänen, who has been consistently targeted over the past several years by LGBT activists for her outspoken advocacy of biblical sexual ethics. Since I interviewed her last, she has been interrogated by Finnish police yet again—simply for articulating her Christian beliefs in public.  Räsänen is not an insignificant figure in Finland. From 2004 to 2015, she served as chair for the Christian Democrats, and from June 2011 to May 2015 she was Minister for the Interior of Finland. Her husband is a Lutheran pastor, and her Christian views were well-known. Not until Section 10 of Finland’s Criminal Code dealing with hate speech was amended in 2011 to include “sexual orientation” did she run into any trouble.  Suddenly, the expression of orthodox Christian views held by countless millions could possibly consider hate speech, and perhaps even prosecutable. That, at least, is what Räsä...

Supreme Court: Funeral Home Violated Law Firing Gay, Transgender Workers

Image
Americans should be able to rely on what the law says. Unfortunately, it seems the U.S. Supreme Court does not agree. Today, the Supreme Court ruled against our client Harris Funeral Homes. In doing so, the Court has delivered a truly troubling decision: Unelected officials and courts can effectively rewrite laws—forcing Americans to guess what the law means—including something as fundamental as the meaning of “sex.” Alliance Defending Freedom has represented Harris Funeral Homes since 2013. That year, a male funeral director expressed the intent to begin dressing and presenting as a woman at work while interacting with grieving families. This funeral director had worked at Harris Funeral Homes for nearly six years and agreed to abide by the sex-specific dress code throughout that time. Harris Funeral Homes have professional conduct and dress codes to ensure that the grieving families it serves can focus on healing and not on the funeral home or its employees. Such policies ...

Archbishop Anglican Church Uganda, Stephen Kazimba Mugalu rejects gay marriage

Image
The new head of the Anglican Church in Uganda, Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, has spoken out against same-sex couples at his enthronement. The head of the Church of England and worldwide Anglican Christianity, Justin Welby, was there to support Kazimba as he was formally enthroned. And as the Archbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala, Kazimba now has widespread influence. Around a third of the east African country’s citizens are members of the Church of Uganda. And the church is particularly influential in Uganda’s politics. Kazimba vowed the church will continue to insist marriage is between a man and woman and for procreation.  He added they would not be ‘pressured’ into accepting immoral homosexual couples: ‘The trend in the Western world and some Anglican churches in those contexts are being pressured into doing this, including our mother Church of England.  But for us in Uganda, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. The Bible speak, and the culture speaks....

Homosexuality slippery slide into church

Image
If you had asked me ten years ago whether evangelicals would ever give up ground on the issue of homosexuality, I would have said “no way!” Sure, the evangelical movement has always had its “progressive wing.”  And yes, even the term “evangelical” has always been notoriously difficult to define. But whatever “evangelical” means, everyone always seemed to understand that it doesn’t include those who would affirm homosexuality as consistent with God’s will.  Everyone always understood that to affirm homosexuality is to affirm your way right out of evangelicalism. That was a clear line that anyone who wished to remain an evangelical was loathed to cross. And there have been levers within the amorphous evangelical movement that informally identified leaders and authors who had crossed that line.  Unfortunately, these checks on false teaching have not always been located in actual church authorities but in publishing houses and magazine editors. So the gauges ha...

Veggie Tales and homosexuality

Image
It’s been over three months since the PBS show Arthur aired its homosexual fake marriage episode, and conservatives are still rightly angry the state of kids’ television because of it. In a recent interview with The Christian Post, Phil Vischer, the co-creator of the longtime popular kids’ franchise Veggie Tales shared his concern over shows like Arthur normalizing immoral homosexual relationships.  “The most striking thing about that episode of Arthur wasn’t that they thought it was time to introduce kids to homosexual fake gay marriage; it was the reaction of all the kids on the show,” he said. “None of them asked questions about why two men were getting married. Their reaction was, ‘Oh, OK! Great!’” “It’s such a strong message of, well kids, of course you’re fine with homosexual fake marriage, because there’s nothing to question about it,” he added. Vischer also said he believes Christian programming for children will eventually have to step forward and contradict the messa...

Rugby Australia admits Folau was sacked because Raelene Castle views parts of the Bible as akin to hate speech

Image
Just like a game of Rugby Union, the Folau Affair turns out to have two halves, with the revelation by News Corp journalist Miranda Devine that Raelene Castle (head of Rugby Australia) believed an accurate Bible quote would have been grounds for sacking the footballer. Castle’s comments in his code of conduct hearing are a game-changer because she admitted that it is the Bible itself which is the problem.   “West asked Castle: ‘What if Mr. Folau had photocopied passages from the Bible and simply posted that on his social media pages, would that have caused a problem for you?’ “Castle replied: ‘I think it depends on which ones – which pages he photocopied.’ “West asked: ‘If he’d photocopied the passages that are referred to in the posts, would that have caused a problem for you?’ ‘Yes, it would have,’ Castle said.”  Castle’s comments in his code of conduct hearing are a game-changer because she admitted that it is the Bible itself which is the problem. A te...

You can’t sack someone … because he expressed a Bible belief

Image
You can’t sack someone … because he expressed a belief Israel Folau saga has unleashed “Christian culture wars”, triggering a fightback against big business and its increasing push to control how workers behave in their private lives, a leading employment lawyer has warned. Why because he quoted on his personal tweet the Bible.  Josh Bornstein, who heads Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, the largest employment law firm in the country, says corporations have become so obsessed with their own “brand management” they were demanding impossibly high “levels of impeccable behavior”. Mr Bornstein said Rugby Australia, still had no business sacking him for “his Christian views”. He said “broad and vague” codes of conduct and contractual obligations were being imposed on employees to make them abide by company policies and values. But they also extended to employees’ behavior outside the workplace. You can’t sack someone … because he expressed a belief That meant workers could ...

Sack Christians and promote homosexuality

Image
SACK CHRISTIANS & PROMOTE HOMOSEXUALITY: RUGBY AUSTRALIA Cameron Clyne broke his silence to whine about the fact his shambolic outfit (Rugby Australia) is embroiled in a religious war after sacking superstar Wallaby Israel Folau for posting a biblical quote about sin and homosexuality on Instagram.  “There is nothing good about the place we’re in but the scenario in which we waive that breach through would be far worse. I would also say that we didn’t bring this situation on. We didn’t press send on this [post],” he told Nine. He desires to not offend homosexuals and limit private texts from his players. RA sacked Folau for declaring scripture.  Clyne is in a battle he doesn’t understand and is too arrogant to realize that corporate Australia doesn’t decide morality for the rest of us.

Supreme Court evades another wedding cake dispute pitting gay rights against religious beliefs

Image
The Supreme Court declined Monday to decide whether an Oregon baker can refuse on religious grounds to design a cake for an immoral homosexual fake wedding – a question it carefully sidestepped last year. HOMOSEXUAL FAKE MARRIAGE VS ESTABLISHED CHRISTIAN BELIEFS The case would have given the court's conservative majority the chance to expand upon its narrow 2018 ruling in favor of a Colorado baker. That decision did not apply beyond the case of Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who the justices said was discriminated against by state regulators. The new case involves Sweetcakes by Melissa, a custom cake business operated by Melissa and Aaron Klein outside Portland, Oregon. They were fined $135,000 for refusing to serve lesbians Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer, who sought a gay decorated cake for their lesbian commitment ceremony, whatever that is? As a result, the Kleins were forced to close their shop because of government bullying. Should any government have t...

Elton John slams Russian censorship of Rocketman's Homosexual sex scenes

Image
Singer Elton John has criticized the cutting of graphic homosexual sex scenes in Russian screenings of Rocketman — a movie about his immoral homosexual turbulent road to fame. Key points: Reports say five minutes of scenes were cut from the film - wonderful! Russian film distributors say they are complying with local laws and homosexual sex is both immoral, against biology and destroys the family and diminishes women and children. Sir Elton's statement said the censorship was "a sad reflection of the divided world we still live in" - But he has divided the world with his homosexual sin A joint statement by Elton and the filmmakers said they were unaware that scenes featuring immoral degrading homosexual sex and drug use would be removed from the film at a screening in Moscow. That the local distributor has correctly edited out certain immoral unacceptable homosexual scenes, denying the audience the opportunity to see the film as it was intended as a d...

Illegal sacking Israel Folau and the sin of homosexuality

Image
Celebrity rugby player Israel Folau is in a complicated legal position. He shared a “meme” on social media site Instagram recently, the text of which was: “Warning: Drunks, Homosexuals, Adulterers, Liars, Fornicators, Thieves, Atheists, Idolators: Hell Awaits You- Repent! Only Jesus Saves.” To this he added his own personal comment: “Those that are living in Sin will end up in Hell unless you repent. Jesus Christ loves you and is giving you time to turn away from your sin and come to him.” (The comment was similar to many other pictures shared on his account, many of which are Bible verses or exhortations to nominal Christians to follow Jesus Christ in deed as well as word.) His remarks were not well-received by many members of the public, and in particular by the peak bodies in rugby. His employer, Rugby Australia, has announced that it (and the NSW Rugby Union) will terminate his contract unless he can offer some explanation for the comments which they are satisfied with (any “compe...

Azusa Pacific University again has lifted a ban on sinful homosexual relationships on campus.

Image
Azusa Pacific University again has lifted a ban on LGBTQ relationships on campus. The University Board of Trustees directed administrators to update the student handbook for undergraduate students, campus spokeswoman Rachel White confirmed. The changes specifically removed language that barred LGBTQ relationships as part of a standing ban on pre-marital sex. God first? No Homosexuality first! The update, enacted Thursday, demonstrates Azusa Pacific’s commitment to “uniform standards of behavior for all students, applied equally and in a nondiscriminatory fashion,” according to university Provost Mark Stanton. “APU is an open-enrollment institution, which does not require students to be Christian to attend, and the handbook conveys our commitment to treating everyone with Christ-like care and civility,” Stanton said in a statement. “Our values are unchanged and the APU community remains unequivocally biblical in our Christian evangelical identity.” Why is the university claiming t...

Hollywood actress Ellen Page - thinks she is right about fake homosexual marriage

Image
Ellen Page parrots the LGBT sinful agenda by trying to embarrass Chris Pratt for attending Hillsong Church. She then libels and slurs Hillsong by swearing - and calling this very popular church- ‘infamously anti-LGBTQ church’ Ellen Page has foolishly tried to embarrass Chris Pratt for attending a biblical modern church. Chris, 39, is a Christian and identifies as a non-denominational Christian, attending services at the Zoe Church and Hillsong – the church favored by stars including Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin.  And Juno actress Ellen has now called on the Guardians Of The Galaxy star to address Hillsong’s attitude towards LGBTQ people, after Chris spoke about his ‘spiritual side’ on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.   Why do Hollywood actresses like Page think they hold any moral ground or any moral authority to do anything? Simply deluded surely?  The actress’s followers praised her for speaking out on the church, which has been accused of ...
