Psychotherapist appeals to European Court after UK university cancels his PhD on transgender regret

Image
A researcher whose university canceled his study of sex-change regret has taken his case to the European Court of Human Rights.  James Caspian, 61, a psychotherapist who had counseled transgender people for a decade, was prevented by England’s Bath Spa University from pursuing a project it had initially accepted: a study entitled “An examination of the experience of people who have undergone Reverse Gender Reassignment Surgery.” A former teacher training college, Bath Spa was not permitted to grant university degrees until 1992.  Supported by the Christian Legal Centre, Caspian first challenged the Bath Spa University’s decision in the British courts . Now he is taking his case to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).  “I have been faced with no alternative but to take this case to Europe,” Caspian stated in a press release. “Too much is at stake for academic freedom and for hundreds, if not thousands, of young people who are saying that they are being harmed and of...

Mask comes off: The LGBT left is out to silence Christian voices

Image
There has always been one end-game for the radical left: the silencing of dissenting voices, in particular, conservative Christian voices. The radical left is not simply interested in winning in the marketplace of ideas. It is not simply interested in changing hearts and minds. It is ultimately interested in silencing the opposition, especially all opposition that is based on a biblical worldview. For years I have said that those who came out of the closet (meaning, radical gay activists) wanted to put us in the closet (meaning those of who identify with conservative biblical values). And for years I (and many others) have documented this, time and time again. You might wonder how the radical left wants to silence us. How, exactly, does it want to put us in the closet? By intimidation. By ridicule. By legal action. By expulsion. By exclusion. Anything to avoid civil, respectful debate. Anything to avoid a genuine discussion of differences. Anything to avoid true dialogue....

Vimeo removes Christian church’s account over videos critical of homosexuality

Image
Popular video hosting site Vimeo removed the account of Fairview Baptist Church, located in Oklahoma after the organization hosted a conference criticizing homosexuality. The "God's Voice"  conference , hosted by Fairview Baptist in Oklahoma City on February 22–23, 2019, was intended to "bring biblical clarity to the recent confusion surrounding the issues of 'revoiced' sexuality and 'LGBTQ+ Christians.'" Fairview Baptist calls God's Voice a "response to the liberalizing message from evangelical elites on matters of sexual ethics." Speakers at the God's Voice conference included syndicated radio host Janet Mefferd, Rev. Thomas Littleton of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. Michael Gryboski of the Christian Post reported Friday, March 15 that Vimeo  had restored  the account and some 300 of Fairview Baptist's videos, but all of the videos from the God...

Facebook suspends best-selling author who posted story on man leaving homosexuality, then apologizes

Image
The daughter of famed science fiction novelist Marion Zimmer Bradley was suspended from posting rights on Facebook last week when she linked to an article on an LGBT website about a man who ceased to have homosexual attractions after living in celibacy for a year. Moira Greyland, who is herself the author of an Amazon  best-selling account  of the sexual abuse inflicted on her by her homosexual parents, linked to an article in Gay Star News, a well-established gay news website in Britain that reported the conversion of a homosexual man and former gay escort to heterosexuality after a year of abstinence from sexual activity.  The story about the young man “going straight” was not only published in Gay Star News but also in the Mirror and the Daily Mail as well. Greyland posted a link to the article on January 8 with the comment, “Gay escort gives up sex for a year, and is now straight. Good job!” On the morning of January 10, Greyland received a message from F...

Church petitions British Columbia’s top court to overturn city’s ban on youth conference

Image
A Christian church in British Columbia has petitioned the province's top court to reverse a city's 2018 decision to cancel the church's booking of a city-owned center for a youth conference after the city took issue with one of the event's Christian speakers. Grace Chapel is a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, located in downtown New Westminster. Part of Grace Chapel’s vision is to “build a multi-ethnic, diverse church where people of every nation in our community will worship God…” Grace Chapel does not have a church building of its own. Church events are held in rented spaces, including the municipally-owned and managed Anvil Centre. As explained in a recently filed affidavit , on May 25, the City of New Westminster signed a contract with Grace Chapel to rent a portion of the Anvil Centre. The rental was for a youth conference to be held on July 21, 2018. On June 21, 2018, a media article was published which included a picture of a poster for the confer...

Vimeo censors Christian group for videos on overcoming same-sex attraction

Image
Another prominent video hosting site is cracking down on content supporting therapy for unwanted homosexual attraction, according to the California-based nonprofit Church United. The group, which is dedicated to “equip(ping) pastors as culture-changers” via events in which they “hear high-profile leaders share about the current spiritual crisis,” revealed last week that on November 23 the website Vimeo notified Church United founder and pastor, Jim Domen, that the group had 24 hours to download copies of all 89 of its videos before the account would be permanently shut down. At issue were five videos on the subject of Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE), particularly controversial California legislation that was withdrawn in August but would have banned virtually any form of treatment for unwanted same-sex attraction. The videos featured Dorman and other pastors, as well as personal stories from ex-homosexuals who attest that such change is possible with the right help. “Your ...

Apple CEO: It’s a ‘sin’ NOT to ban those who disagree with company’s ‘values’

Image
Apple CEO Tim Cook  revealed  Monday that his company’s mission extends far beyond designing hardware to spreading Apple’s own interpretation of morality. In what is an ironic co-opting of religious terminology, the secular tech mogul made his appeal speaking about “morality,” “sin,” and that which is “sacred.” Cook, who  recently announced  that being gay “is God’s greatest gift to me,” said technology companies have a moral obligation to ban certain people and content from social media and digital platforms, and that to not do so is a “sin.”   “My friends, if we can’t be clear on moral questions like these, then we’ve got big problems,” declared Cook. “At Apple, we are not afraid to say that our values drive our curation decisions.” “I believe the most sacred thing that each of us is given is our judgment, our morality, our own innate desire to separate right from wrong,” he continued. “Choosing to set that responsibility aside at a moment of a...
