Alberta gvmt threatens to defund Christian schools that won’t comply with gay, trans mandate

Image
Education Minister David Eggen says he’s willing to strip two Christian schools of their public funding if they won’t abandon their Christian principles and allow clubs promoting homosexuality and/or transgender students in washrooms of the opposite sex. These measures are part of the New Democratic government’s anti-bullying policies that single out sexual minorities for protection, though surveys indicate that physical appearance and grades are far more likely causes of school bullying. Last month, Spruce Grove Baptist pastor Brian Coldwell, who is also chairman of an independent Christian school board with two small schools with 200 students, said neither cross-gendered washrooms nor gay straight alliances would be allowed in his schools. Asked about Coldwell’s comments at a school opening where he was joined by Premier Rachel Notley, Eggen said, “It’s not acceptable, not just for the kids that are attending those schools, but it sends a negative message across the provi...

Girls Told to Ask for Lesbian Kiss at School

English: New York State Route 199 in Red Hook. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Parents of children attending a Red Hook, New York , middle school are outraged after a recent anti-bullying presentation at Linden Avenue Middle School . The workshop for 13 and 14-year-old girls focused on homosexuality and gender identity . They were also taught words such as " pansexual " and "genderqueer." Parents say their daughters were told to ask one another for a kiss and they say two girls were told to stand in front of the class and pretend they were lesbians on a date. "She told me, 'Mom we all get teased and picked on enough. Now I'm going to be called a lesbian because I had to ask another girl if I could kiss her,'" parent , Mandy Coon , told reporters. Coon says parents were given no warning about the presentation and there was no opportunity to opt-out. Both the school principal and the district superintendent are defending the workshops and advis...

Gay Advocate Dan Savage attack: redefines ‘bullying’

Image
It all began when the National High School Journalism Conference invited a gay rights activist named Dan Savage to speak to students in Seattle about the need to prevent bullying . But it turned out that this was a lesson Savage badly needed to learn himself. To the shock of the students, Savage launched a vicious attack on the Bible and Christian beliefs. As he put it, “We can learn to ignore the BS in the Bible about gay people.” Of course he didn’t say BS. As Savage continued his attack, some students broke into tears. Dozens of offended students walked out of the auditorium. As they left, Savage heckled them with vulgar words I can’t repeat. Dan Savage speaks at the National High School Journalism Conference One of the teachers present — Rick Tuttle of Sutter Union High School in California — said the speech “took a real dark, hostile turn ... It became very hostile toward Christianity.” Savage later apologized for using vulgarity to describe the students. But he ...

Parents: school board duplicity on anti-gay bullying vs. Christophobia, other bullying

Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia Image via Wikipedia HAMILTON, Ontario , March 12, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Hamilton’s Orthodox Christian community leaders have cried foul as a public school board superintendent responsible for safe and caring schools has told the faith group that their own concerns about Christian bullying “require no further attention”. The Pan-Orthodox Association of Greater Hamilton, a group representing the city’s 20,000 Orthodox Christians , met on two occasions with Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board superintendent Pam Reinholdt to discuss their concerns over the board’s selective promotion of anti-gay bullying strategies which they say ignores the vast majority of bullying incidents in schools. Leaders of the faith group say that at their last meeting, Reinholdt “repeatedly attacked” their concerns over the special status given by the board to anti-gay bullying strategies. The leaders had pointed out to Reinholdt the Bo...

Ontario MPP: McGuinty anti-bullying bill is deceptive, ‘utopian,’ ‘foolhardy,’ stupid

TORONTO, Ontario , January 9, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Premier Dalton McGuinty ’s controversial anti- bullying bill is “intentionally deceptive,” “utopian,” and “foolhardy,” says an Ontario politician with the opposition Progressive Conservatives. Tory MPP Randy Hillier In a strongly worded  op-ed  Wednesday for the Ottawa Citizen , Tory MPP Randy Hillier says McGuinty’s bill, which has been criticized by religious groups for its strong emphasis on sexual orientation, “reaches the zenith of downright stupidity” and manipulates recent suicides by homosexual teens for “political gain.” “Bill 13 is little more than a poorly disguised pacifier intended to create a perception that not only is the government acting, but is also compassionate and sympathetic toward children who are bullied,” writes Hillier ( Lanark—Frontenac—Lennox and Addington ), a former provincial Tory leadership candidate and current oppositio Image via Wikipedia n critic for both Labour and Northern Deve...

Gay Agenda Highjacks Bullying Crisis

Image
Image via Wikipedia If there’s one thing virtually everyone can agree on, it’s that bullying is bad. In fact, a recent survey commissioned by Care.com, a caregiver referral company, revealed that bullying is the No. 1 concern of parents of school-aged children — even more so than the fear of kidnapping. We’re all more aware of, and alarmed by, the social aggression, cruelty, and violence that confront too many of our children and teens. And that’s no surprise. If you’ve ever watched a son or daughter struggle to cope with the inexplicably mean behavior of his or her peers, you know why this is such an emotionally charged issue. In fact, in its most recent survey of American teens, the Josephson Institute of Ethics discovered that roughly 60 percent of the teens surve yed said they have been bullied at some point, while about 90 percent said they have bullied others. To say bullying is rampant is an understatement. You would think this is one issue that couldn’t possibly be in...

Gay activist admits: bullying hysteria may cause suicides, not prevent them

Image
Image by feastoffun.com via Flickr December 2, 2011 ( frc.org ) - Ever since the highly-publicized suicide of a New Jersey college student in September of 2010, pro- homosexual activists have been using the issues of bullying and teen suicide as tools in pursuit of their political agenda , and as rhetorical weapons against those who oppose it. Every time another report surfaced about a suicide by a teenager who identified as or was perceived to be “gay,” and who had reportedly been bullied, the finger would be pointed directly at conservatives. Bullying causes suicides , we were told, and public expression of conservative political, social, or religious viewpoints concerning homosexuality causes bullying. Affirm homosexual conduct as morally neutral, or more kids will die. As early as October of 2010, however, experts on suicide prevention were warning that this simplistic approach linking suicides (which are always tragic) to bullying (which is always wrong) could do more harm th...
