UK bill proposes to ban therapy for unwanted same-sex attractions, condemned as ‘Stalinist’

Image
LONDON, December 17, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – While a British Labour Party MP proposes a private member’s bill to ban therapists offering help to overcome unwanted feelings of same-sex attraction , one prominent Christian therapist has warned that the bill is just part of ongoing violations of the rights of clients seeking help. Dr. Michael Davidson says the bill is part of a “ Stalinist ” style effort to force out any  professional opinions that dissent  from the “gay political and social ideology” that is being adopted by psychological associations. Professional governing bodies, starting with the Royal College of Psychiatrists , Dr. Davidson told LifeSiteNews.com in an interview today, are guided on these issues by a political ideology, not science, and are manipulating and misrepresenting empirical findings. “The agenda is being driven not by politicians but by the professional bodies,” he said, who are employing what he called “Stalinist tactics” to quash diss...

Redefining marriage ‘an arrogant act of cultural vandalism’: New Zealand family leader

Image
AUCKLAND, NZ , August 19, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – More than 30 same-sex couples have “married” over the last 24 hours, as New Zealand's Marriage ( Definition of Marriage ) Amendment Act has come into effect. Despite little debate, and strong opposition, politicians chose to pass the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill 77 to 44 in April. Marriage now lawfully means “the union of two people, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.” Louisa Wall , the Labour MP who presented the bill that redefined marriage, was present at a lesbian couple ’s wedding at the Auckland Unitarian Church in Ponsonby. She said it was an "amazing day to be here to celebrate” the couple's “the commitment they have to one another and the institution of marriage." But others say the new law defies the national mood and common sense. “Despite their grandiose view, the politicians never had the authority to redefine marriage,” said Bob McCoskrie, ...

Cameron splits his party & country over immoral homosexual marriage

Image
A bill to legalise  gay marriage in Britain  has passed the country's parliament and will now go the country's upper house, the  House of Lords , for consideration. MPs voted 366 to 161 in favour of the bill. The vote followed a marathon debate on Monday in which  Mr Cameron  was forced to make a deal with the opposition  Labour party  to defeat a bid by his own Conservative MPs to scupper the bill. Cameron has effectively divided his own party and for what benefit: immorality! Right-wing Tories had proposed an amendment to allow heterosexual couples to form civil partnerships - a move that was condemned by Mr Cameron's office as a "wrecking amendment" that would have delayed the introduction of the new law. Although the motion was easily defeated with Labour's help, the depth of the  Conservatives'  divisions were made clear when 121  Tory MPs  backed a separate plan to allow officials to opt out of carrying out gay marr...

Shock poll over NZ immoral homosexual marriage bill

Image
Public opposition to same-sex marriage has grown significantly since a law change to legalise it came before Parliament , a Herald DigiPoll survey shows. Same-sex marriage campaigners blame scaremongering by religious groups for the increase in opposition, saying lobbying has intensified as the bill progresses through Parliament.  Opponents of gay marriage say the jump shows people are waking up to the negative social effects of changing the Marriage Act. Asked what best fitted their view on marriage law, 48 per cent of those polled said marriage should remain between a man and a woman – an increase of 7.5 percentage points from a poll last June. The number of people who supported a law change to allow same-sex couples to marry fell 4 percentage points in that time, but still outnumbered the opponents by a small margin. The Marriage Amendment Bill is expected to return to Parliament tomorrow for the committee stages after easily passing its second reading by 77 votes ...

NZ's homosexual immoral marriage debate fails to identify key issues

Image
It is hugely concerning that the politicians failed to grasp some critical consequences of changing the definition of marriage . There was virtually no discussion in the 2nd Reading about the major impact on adoption laws that this bill will have. Changes to adoption are being 'snuck under the door', yet the changes will be weakening the rights of the child in favour of pandering to the demands of adults. The politicians are also failing to comprehend that the bill as proposed will coerce those with a conscientious objection to same-sex 'marriage' to solemnise them against their conscience. This includes all independent marriage celebrants and marriage registrars who perform almost 70% of marriages, and potentially some ministers and celebrants from approved organisations. What the promoters of the bill say, and what the bill actually offers, are two very distinct and separate things. The Select Committee process has been shameful as they have attempted to ram this...

NZ Celebrants caught out in the immoral Homosexual pretend marriage

Image
A bill to legalise same-sex marriage would not force celebrants to marry gay couples if they didn't want to, its sponsor says. But Conservative Party leader Colin Craig says the bill will not protect the rights of all celebrants who do not wish to marry same-sex couples. A select committee last month recommended changing the bill to make it clear that no celebrant recognised by a religious body or nominated by an approved organisation would have to marry a couple if it meant contravening their own or the organisation's beliefs. Critics say that would cover only about a third of celebrants and the rest, who are not linked to a religious organisation, will not be covered. Mr Craig told TVNZ 's Q+A programme today that the select committee had ignored advice to explicitly cover all celebrants. "At the moment, the proposed amendment only protects 32 per cent of celebrants. The other 68 you're hanging out to dry," he said. Mr Craig called on the Government to...

UK Parliament overwhelmingly passes gay ‘marriage’ bill

Image
WESTMINSTER, February 5, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – At about 7 pm. London time tonight, 400 Members of Parliament voted in favor of a law re-defining marriage in Britain, with 175 MPs voting ‘no.’ The bill now goes to committee for further scrutiny. The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children , one of the leaders in the fight to defend marriage,  that the fight is not over, and that those involved in the fight for marriage are continuing to rally support at the grassroots.  SPUC commended the pro-family MPs who opposed the bill, who came largely from the government’s own backbench MPs. In today’s 6-hour debate, Tory MP Roger Gale summed up the position of those opposed to the change, saying it had nothing to do with “equality” but with the objective reality of marriage. “It is not possible to redefine marriage,” Gale said. “Marriage is the union between a man and a woman, has been historically, remains so. It is Alice in Wonderland territory, Orwellia...

Labor forces NZ Churches to marry Homosexuals

Image
Charles Chauvel and Grant Robertson at the Big Gay Out 2011 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Family First NZ has released a legal opinion which calls into question the validity of the assurances given in Parliament during the 1st Reading of the Marriage Amendment Bill by the Bill’s author Louisa Wall , and also points out the legal incorrectness of statements made to a newspaper by Labour’s Shadow Attorney-General Charles Chauvel . An initial legal opinion (dated 27 Aug 2012) obtained by Family First NZ from Barrister Ian Bassett before the 1st Reading in Parliament stated that marriage celebrants (including church ministers) exercising their public function will be in breach of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990 and acting unlawfully if they refuse to perform their public function as marriage celebrants by reason of the same sex of a couple seeking to be married. On 29 August 2012 in Parliament during the 1st Reading of the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill, Lo...

Australian federal parliament resoundingly defeats same-sex ‘marriage’ bill

Image
CANBERRA, September 19, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Australia ’s federal parliament has overwhelmingly voted down a bill that proposed to institute “gay marriage” throughout the country. The bill was resoundingly shut down in a vote of 98 to 42, but observers pointed out that the last vote had only 6 in favour. The movement of public opinion is also towards national legalisation, with a poll last year showing 64 per cent of 270,000 responses in favour of a change. The bill was tabled by Labour MP Stephen Jones who urged activists to “maintain your rage.” The bill did not receive unanimous support from the homosexual community. Homosexual Senator, Dean Smith voted against it, calling his vote “an honest acknowledgement of the special and unique characteristics of the union described as marriage.” Activists have shrugged off the defeat of the national bill, however, saying they have higher hopes for legislation at the state level. They are particularly looking towards Tasmania w...
