Law firm forces out pro-family leader after he backed Indiana’s religious freedom law

Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, Cincinnati (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) April 8, 2015 ( FRCBlog.com ) -- In early 1991, Curt Smith hired me to serve in the press office of U.S. Sen. Dan Coats (R-IN).  He was my boss for more than three years, working in harness for one of the finest men to serve in the Senate in recent memory. Curt is a gracious, soft-spoken man who has a deep love for people.  He was patient with me as I grew in my role and has been a friend for, now, nearly a quarter of a century. He is also a committed follower of Jesus Christ who, while working for the prestigious law firm Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP , also served as head of the Indiana Family Institute.  Now, due to his support for Indiana Governor Mike Pence’s original religious liberty bill, Curt has lost his job.  As  Indianapolis’s WISH-TV tells it : Until last week Smith was the director of public policy at the Taft Law firm. One of its biggest clients is Cu...

LGBT lobby is encouraging homosexual men to take children away from mothers of the Third World

Image
While US conservatives are distracted by internal debates, the wealthy and powerful international movement for LGBT rights is aggressively targeting nations that are poorer and less powerful. Speaking before the United Nations earlier this month—bragging about American leadership in a global movement to normalize homosexuality, same-sex marriage, artificial reproductive technology, and cross-dressing— John Kerry revealed the deep pockets and loaded guns that the world’s only superpower can count on to bring such ideas to nations that have religious or cultural objections: The Global Equality Fund is one way in which like-minded countries can address this injustice and show their support for LGBT persons. Since the United States launched the Fund in 2011, it has allocated over $7 million in more than 50 countries worldwide. And the investments have helped to challenge the discriminatory laws that undermine human rights and bolster—and to bolster civil society organizations that def...

West trying to make Nigeria ‘dumping ground’ for ‘immoral practices’: Catholic bishops to gov’t

Image
ABUJA, Nigeria , February 3, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Western governments and media around the world are attacking Nigeria’s Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2013, which outlaws same-sex “marriage” as well as propagandizing by the homosexualist lobby. However, one of the few voices giving public support is that of the Nigerian Catholic bishops, who have issued a statement congratulating the government for the passage of the law. The president of the Nigerian Catholic bishops’ conference, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos, wrote to the president saying that the government’s decision “not to bow to international pressure in the promotion of unethical and immoral practices of same sex union and other related vices” is “a courageous one and a clear indication of the ability of our great country to stand shoulders high in the protection of our Nigerian and African most valued cultures of the institution of marriage and protection of the dignity of the human person.” Arch...

U.S. State Department condemns Nigeria for banning same-sex ‘marriage,’ gay clubs

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , January 15, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and other top diplomatic brass are criticizing the African nation of Nigeria after President Goodluck Jonathan signed a new law banning same-sex “marriage.” Both Secretary Kerry and his predecessor, Hillary Clinton, have said that promoting the gay “rights” agenda around the world is a “top priority” for U.S. foreign policymakers. The Obama administration has made promoting homosexuality around the world a priority. “The United States is deeply concerned by Nigeria’s enactment of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act,” Secretary Kerry said in a  statement  Monday.   “It is inconsistent with Nigeria’s international legal obligations and undermines the democratic reforms and human rights protections enshrined in its 1999 Constitution.” U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power said via Twitter  that she was “deeply troubled” by President Jonath...

Children's Day Dumpeds for Transgender Day of Remembrance

Official photographic portrait of US President Barack Obama (born 4 August 1961; assumed office 20 January 2009) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) November 20, 2013 ( Turtle Bay and Beyond ) - November 20 is Universal Children’s Day , first proclaimed by the UN in 1954 to encourage countries to institute a day to promote the welfare of the world’s children. UNICEF is marking the day with a campaign to End Violence against children. The most degrading of crimes – slavery, trafficking, forced labor, sexual abuse – are easier to commit, and hide, when perpetrated against children. Children are in greatest need of defenders. Despite the global consensus against violence against children, the most widespread lethal violence globally occurs with the approval of governments and elites: abortion. Nevertheless, children’s welfare is something we can all get behind. So it was a surprise to see the Obama administration ’s message to the world on Universal Children’s Day. U.S. Secretary J...

Pro-family forces cry foul as legislator sneaks homosexual union language into Costa Rican law

Image
A socialist legislator has managed to smuggle an ambiguous text into a new law regarding the nation’s youth in an apparent attempt to legalize homosexual unions on the sly.  The Law of Young People was passed unanimously on July 1 by legislators who now say they were unaware of changes that had been inserted by a parliamentarian from the leftist Broad Front party, which could be used to grant legal recognition to homosexual unions, and even “marriage.”  President Laura Chinchilla signed the bill into law despite requests that she veto over the changes. The text mandates the “recognition, without discrimination contrary to human dignity, of the social and patrimonial effects of de facto unions that [young people] constitute in a public, well-known, exclusive, and stable manner.”  Although pro-family lawmakers sought to convince socialist president Laura Chinchilla to veto the legislation, she dismissed their concerns and signed it into law on July 4, s...

Obama slated to name five openly immoral homosexual foreign ambassadors

Image
The Obama Administration’s ongoing celebration of homosexual “ Pride Month ” has seemingly carried over into its ambassadorial nominations. On monday, the president announced the nomination of Daniel Baer as ambassador to the Vienna-based Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).  If confirmed, Baer would be the first open homosexual to serve as ambassador to a multilateral institution. Next on the list is HBO executive James Costos, who together with his boyfriend, decorator Michael Smith, fundraised over $1 million for President Obama’s re-election.  He is expected to be named ambassador to Spain as early as this week.  After that, at least three more homosexuals are slated to be announced as ambassadorial picks, including former Office of Personnel Management director John Berry (Australia), former Democratic National Committee finance chairman and Obama fundraising director Rufus Gifford (Denmark), and hedge fund manager James “Wally...

More people say no to Homosexual Marriage

Image
One issue that has been in headlines recently is "gay marriage." We were curious to know how federal employees and retirees (most of our readers fall into these categories) react to this subject. In most of the polls on political issues, readers tend to favor the liberal side of the political spectrum. In large part, this is due to economic self-interest. On the issue of gay marriage, however, readers gave a more conservative response. 64 percent of those responding are opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage and 33 percent said they are in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. Three percent are undecided on the issue. Some of the reasons given for being against same-sex marriage are based on religious beliefs. Some readers think it is destructive to society to allow same-sex marriage. Still others are in favor of civil unions but prefer restricting marriage to a relationship between a man and a woman. Those speaking out in favor of allowing same-sex marriage often viewed i...
