Christian businessman receives felony conviction for helping girl escape lesbian ‘mother’

Image
A Christian activist and entrepreneur who helped a child and her mother escape the United States to avoid joint custody with an unrelated lesbian was convicted Thursday by a federal jury of “conspiracy to commit offense” against the U.S. and aiding and abetting an “ international parental kidnapping .” Philip Zodhiates, 61, did not contest the allegation that in late 2009 he had driven Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella to Buffalo, New York , where they crossed the border into Canada and then flew to Nicaragua , where they were sheltered by the country’s Mennonite community. However, his attorney argued that it was unproven that Zodhiates knew Lisa Miller’s motives for the trip. The two charges for which Zodhiates has been convicted could result in a sentence of up to eight years in prison and a $500,000 fine. He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 30. Mennonite Pastor Kenneth Miller, who is unrelated to Lisa and Isabella, is already serving a 27-month prison sent...

Obama praises gay lobby’s strategy for winning over pro-marriage Americans

Image
President Obama told 500 young leaders in London on Saturday that gay activists have been so successful at convincing Americans to accept the redefinition of marriage by saying that same-sex “marriage” promoted "family values" and "stability and commitment and partnership." At a town hall event, the president described the gay "marriage" movement as "the fastest set of changes in terms of the social movement" he has ever seen. He chalked this success up to the way LGBT activists framed the issue so as to win the minds and hearts of Americans. “I thought there was a lot of smarts in reaching out and building and framing the issue in a way that could bring in people who initially didn’t agree with them,” Obama remarked. The leader of the free world added that his two daughters, Malia, 17, and Sasha, 14, "had an impact on me" in changing from supporting civil unions to overt support for gay “marriage.” "My notion was...

Muslim councilor who refused to do lesbian ‘wedding’ gets 5 months suspended prison sentence

Sabrina Hout, a French city councilor from a Muslim background who refused to perform the marriage of a lesbian couple last year, has been given a five month suspended prison sentence together with hefty damages. The sentence has been greeted with enthusiasm in much of the media, the more so because it goes over and beyond   the public prosecutor’s demands : she had suggested just three months suspended prison and a fine of 1,500 euro. Sabrina Hout will have to pay a total of 2,400 euro (over 3,000 dollars) in damages to the two women she refused to “marry” and to several gay associations who supported their claim. When the lesbian couple approached Hout to be “married” in August 2014, she did not formally voice her opposition. Instead, she signed the register and the family record book for Claude and Hélène, the lesbian couple who were to “marry” in the town hall of the 8th sector of Marseille, where a large proportion of the population is of Islamic descent. She t...

French Muslim registrar sent to court for refusing to perform gay ‘marriage’

A public prosecutor in Marseille , the main city on the south coast of France , has demanded a 1,500-euro fine (about 1,680 dollars) and a suspended prison sentence of three months against a deputy mayor in charge of marriage celebrations who used a "stratagem" in order to avoid registering a same-sex "marriage." Sabrina Hout was sued by a lesbian couple complaining that they had been discriminated against on the grounds of "sexual orientation." Hout is of North African origin and Islamic background. The intended "marriage" was between two native Frenchwomen , Claude and Hélène, who wanted their union to be registered in the 8th sector of Marseille, in the northern neighborhood where they live and work and where the population is now mainly of Islamic descent. The ceremony took place on the 16th of August, 2014, more than a year after same-sex "marriage" was made legal in France. Hout was the "civil officer"...
