Christian minister challenges county ordinance forcing her to officiate gay ‘weddings’

Image
A Christian minister has filed a federal lawsuit arguing that a local “anti-discrimination” law will effectively force her to officiate same-sex “weddings.” Kristi Stokes owns Covenant Weddings, which offers marriage services as well as homilies, vows, and prayers for unions “between one biological man and one biological woman.” Represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), she is suing to block an ordinance adding “sexual orientation and gender identity” to local non-discrimination rules, which she says will not only force her to unite same-sex couples but forbid her from explaining why she only believes in heterosexual unions. The ordinance penalizes violating businesses starting at $1,000 per violation, plus additional costs such as attorneys’ fees. Stokes says she has not faced such a suit yet, but realized she was in danger in December 2019, when she turned down a request to officiate a same-sex union and realized she could have been sued for doing so – despite the fact ...

Homosexual ‘marriage’ coming to Northern Ireland at midnight as assembly fails to block

Image
The Stormont assembly failed to fully assemble Monday in a last effort to block two sweeping “reforms” imposed on Northern Ireland by the United Kingdom, meaning abortion will be decriminalized and same-sex “marriage” recognized in the province by midnight.  Homosexual marriage is and always will be an affront against God, marriage and biology.  In July, the UK Parliament voted 328-65 to repeal Sections 58 and 59 of Northern Ireland’s 1861 Offences Against the Person Act, which forbid both women and doctors from committing abortions, as well as to recognize same-sex “marriage.” Complicating the issue was the fact that Northern Ireland’s assembly has been suspended for more than two years and has been unable to reach an agreement on reconvening. The UK Parliament had set a deadline for the province’s assembly to come together by October 21, otherwise it will begin legalizing abortion. Northern Ireland peer Baroness O'Loan worked to circulate a petition to recall lawm...

Forcing same-sex ‘marriage’ on USA didn’t reduce teen suicides after all, study finds

Image
For years, LGBT activists have asserted that society’s refusal to fully recognize homosexuality as indistinguishable from heterosexuality was a key contributor to suicide among young gay Americans, but a new study is challenging the notion that the advent of same-sex “marriage” reduced the suicide rate at all. D. Mark Anderson of Montana State University and the National Bureau of Economic Research, along with Kyutaro Matsuzawa and Joseph J. Sabia of San Diego State University’s Center for Health Economics & Policy Studies, released a paper this month analyzing data from State Youth Risk Behavior Surveys to “explore the relationship between marriage equality and suicidal behaviors among LGBQ-identifying youths.” Their conclusion: We find little evidence that SSM laws have reduced suicide attempts among teen sexual minorities, nor have they decreased the likelihood of suicide planning, suicide ideation, or depression.   Instead, we find some evidence that SSM legali...

Conservative legal scholar proposes new marriage-defense bill to challenge Obergefell ruling

Image
As LGBT activists continue their efforts to impose acceptance of homosexuality and transgenderism in the country at large, one prominent conservative thinker has offered a unique legislative proposal he says may help conservatives go back on offense in the culture wars. For months, conservatives have been debating how to respond to instances of left-wing cultural aggression such as Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH), which is the practice of cross-dressers reading to small children in public libraries for the express purpose of acclimating them to notions of gender-fluidity. New York Post editor Sohrab Ahmari initiated the debate in May by identifying National Review writer David French as emblematic of a certain breed of conservative unsuited to meaningfully resist such projects; French argues that DQSH is a free-speech issue government is powerless to prevent. Last week, Hadley Arkes, eminent Amherst College political scientist and architect of the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act ...

Cakes and Homosexual taking people to court

Image
Did the Supreme Court punt or pass on religious freedom, or did it deliver a kick in the pants to lower courts? It’s tough to tell from the competing media reports, but the owners of the now-defunct Oregon bakery Sweetcakes by Melissa are off the hook for $135,000 in fines. The court vacated a lower-court ruling that upheld the fines against Melissa and Aaron Klein for refusing to work a same-sex wedding. The Supreme Court declined Monday to decide whether an Oregon baker can refuse on religious grounds to design a cake for a homosexual wedding – a question it carefully sidestepped last year. The case would have given the court’s conservative majority the chance to expand upon its narrow 2018 ruling in favor of a Colorado baker. That decision did not apply beyond the case of Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who the justices said was discriminated against by state regulators. The new case involves Sweetcakes by Melissa, a custom cake business operated by Melissa a...

Pro-abortion 2020 Dem claims homosexual ‘marriage’ brought him ‘closer to God’

Image
Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana currently seeking the Democrat nomination for president, claimed Sunday his “marriage” to another man has deepened his faith, taking aim at Vice President Mike Pence in the process. “My marriage to (teacher Chasten Glezman) has made me a better man,” Buttigieg declared during his address to the LGBTQ Victory Fund's annual brunch,  HuffPost  reported . “And yes, Mr. Vice President, it has moved me closer to God. “Speaking only for myself, I can tell you that if me being gay was a choice, it was a choice that was made far, far above my pay grade,” he continued. “And that’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand: If you’ve got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.” In other words,  Buttigieg is blaming God for his homosexual lust. God is to blame for immoral sinful behaviour.  What Buttigieg doesn't understand is that God ...

University blacklists Chick-Fil-A over Christian ‘corporate values’

Image
Chick-Fil-A  continues to thrive  across the country, but liberals in high places remain bent on punishing it for refusing to embrace same-sex “marriage.” Campus Reform   reports  that the popular chicken chain won a student survey of new meal options to bring to campus at private Rider University in New Jersey recently, but the powers-that-be dashed the student body’s hopes with an email claiming that the company’s “corporate values have not sufficiently progressed enough to align with those of Rider.” The Associated Press (AP)  adds  that the school cited the “company's record widely perceived to be in opposition to the LGBTQ community,” and claimed that while excluding the option of Chick-Fil-A could be seen as a “form of exclusion,” administrators believe it’s acting “faithful to our values of inclusion.” “It is important to me and to the University that all voices are heard,” Rider Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs Jan ...

California’s shocking ‘you must stay gay’ bill

Image
In a brazen assault on our most fundamental freedoms, California legislators are considering a bill that would make it illegal for anyone to receive professional help to resolve unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion . This would apply to people of all ages. People of all religious and moral convictions. It is an absolute outrage, and it must be opposed vigorously. For the last few years, a growing number of states and cities have embraced legislation making it illegal for  minors  struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions or gender confusion to receive professional help, even with the full support of their parents. This would apply to a 14-year-old girl who was raped by her uncle at the age of 8 and now feels repulsion from men and attraction toward women. If her parents stood with her and she wanted to meet with a trained counselor to get to the root of her attractions, in some states, that would be illegal. No professional counselor or therapist ...

10,000 sign petition urging Disney not to make Frozen’s Elsa a lesbian

Image
More than 10,000 people have signed a  petition  asking Disney to not depict Elsa as a lesbian in  Frozen 2 . Disney is now promoting the sin of homosexuality very openly without regardless to the consequences of this flawed action. From every corner of society, young girls already face confusing and troubling messages about sexuality. Disney is possibly NOT helping if it following this sad petition.  The petition platform also gives signers the option to send Disney a postcard expressing their concerns. So far, over 200 postcards have been sent. "Protect the innocence of little girls rather than introducing them to lesbianism and the over-sexed LGBT cause," the petition says. “Please either pair Elsa with a prince in Frozen 2, or don’t create a partner for her at all. Parents don’t want this forced on their kids." The heroine didn’t fall in love with a prince during the first  Frozen  film, and some suggested the movie had subtly pro-gay ...

Fighting Back - LGBT agenda

Image
Last week the nation of Bermuda became the first country in the world to repeal same-sex 'marriage.' We were very active in this victory behind the scenes. I twice met with leaders of the pro-marriage movement in Bermuda to discuss strategies and approaches. We suggested that they push for a national referendum to preserve marriage, which they did, eventually persuading 68% of Bermuda voters to reject gay 'marriage.' After their country's Supreme Court imposed same-sex 'marriage' despite the tremendous electoral outpouring, we advised launching a national petition effort to keep the issue before Parliament, and the coalition followed our advice. Thanks to strong grassroots support for marriage, Parliament passed a new law eradicating gay 'marriage' and it was signed into law last week. In 2016, NOM was a leading national group urging the Mississippi Legislature to enact HB 1523 , comprehensive religious liberty legislation designed to protect ...

Trendy Homosexuality and Religious Freedom diminshed

Image
Now that Australia has, in response to the vote in a postal survey, redefined the law of marriage to allow same-sex couples to be married, what are the implications for the religious freedom of those who believe this is contrary to God’s will? This paper will simply outline some issues, all of which will need careful further thought. [2] One preliminary point worth noting is that many of these matters are issues which would have come up even if the Australian public had not voted to change the definition of marriage to include same sex couples. Biblical Christians have been ‘out of step’ with the broader Western culture ’s views on sex and marriage for some time. [3] But there are some specific issues that arise with the change inthe nature of marriage, especially around the law on solemnising marriage. And there seems little doubt that the ‘moral imperative’ to approve homosexual behaviour given by the statutory recognition of same sex marriage ( SSM ) will encourage further oppos...
