Why Are Ex-Gays Such A Threat?

Image
What is it that makes the very existence of ex-gays so dangerous? And why is there a concerted, worldwide effort to block professional counseling for those with unwanted same-sex attractions? Before you think I’m exaggerating, consider the following examples. In England, Barclays Bank announced it was closing the account of a Christian charity after protest from LGBTQ activists. The charity, Core Issues Trust (CIT), was accused of practicing “conversion therapy.” CIT said that “Barclays informed them that their bank account will be terminated by September. CIT claimed that the move came after pressure from an LGBT social media campaign that targetted the group for allegedly practising ‘conversion therapy’.” On the social media front, it is now reported that, “Facebook and its photo platform Instagram are banning any content advertising or promoting treatment to overcome unwanted same-sex attraction.” According to Facebook spokeswoman Stephanie Otway, “This is a global poli...

Ex-Gays?: A Longitudinal Study of Religiously Mediated Change in Sexual Orientation

Image
Is it possible to be an ex gay? Stanton L. Jones and Mark A. Yarhouse present social science research on homosexuality designed to answer the questions: Can those who receive religiously-informed psychotherapy experience a change in their sexual orientation? Are such programs harmful to participants? The results show that outcomes for this kind of religiously-informed psychotherapy are similar to outcomes of therapy for other psychological problems. Such programs do not appear to be harmful on average to individuals. This research will be of interest to all those who want to know the latest research on sexual orientation change and the effects of religiously-informeded programs on those who utilize them.

‘Not conversion therapy’: Pulse nightclub survivors host rally for people who’ve left LGBT for Jesus

Image
ORLANDO, Florida, ) – Three years after the Pulse Nightclub massacre where 49 homosexual men died, ex-homosexuals and ex-transgenders came to Orlando from around the country to publicly proclaim the freedom they’ve found through Jesus Christ.   At the outset of the event — held at Lake Eloa Park which is about a 5-minutes drive from the Pulse Nightclub — shooting survivor Luis Ruiz set the record straight about something secular media and LGBT activists consistently get wrong: Conversion. “This is not conversion therapy,” proclaimed Ruiz to the cheers of the crowd.  “This is not electrotherapy.  This is not shock therapy,” he continued. “This is all the Holy Spirit,” and about “a man who died on a Cross,” said Ruiz.   “This is not a gay to straight thing: This is a lost to saved thing,” he added. “Their definition of conversion therapy is not our definition of conversion,” Ruiz said. “Change is possible,” said Angel Colon, another Pulse Nigh...

Living with Regret: How One Man's Sex Change 'Fixed Nothing'

Former Olympian Bruce Jenner has been hailed a hero by some in the LGBT community for his recent sex-change surgery and name change to Caitlyn. But one man who has changed sexes twice says that the transgender movement has left a trail of misery in its wake. Author and speaker Walt Heyer has experienced sex-change regret first hand."The surgery fixed nothing - it only masked and exacerbated deeper psychological problems," Heyer wrote in an article on Public Discourse. "If more people were aware of the dark and troubled history of sex-reassignment surgery, perhaps we wouldn't be so quick to push people toward it," he said. Is sex-change surgery the answer to gender dysphoria? How should the Church respond to transgenders? "We need to be mindful that the Church is a hospital for broken people. And as such, we need to be the people who administer assistance and guidance to those people who are suffering," Heyer said. "We don'...

Escaping 'Trans La La Land': Dozens of Transgender Regretters 'Come Out' to Tell the Truth

As the transgender movement becomes all the rage in popular culture, those who once lived that lifestyle – and are now plagued with regret – are coming forward to share their stories.Author Walt Heyer chronicles their various journeys in his new book, Trans Life Survivors . "Trans Life Survivors showcases emails from 30 or so people, selected from among hundreds who have written me, concerning what many calls 'the biggest mistake' of their lives," Heyer writes in the book's introduction. Living with Regret: How One Man's Sex Change 'Fixed Nothing' Heyer is hardly an outsider regarding this controversial issue. To the contrary, Heyer himself endured a life-long struggle with gender confusion leading him to have a sex-change operation and live as a woman for nearly a decade. He later discovered, however, that he was suffering from a mental condition known as "dissociative id...

Jesus Can Change Anyone': These Ex-LGBTQ People Are Bringing a Freedom March of Hope to L.A.

Talia Wise The message of the Good News will be shouted from the rooftops by former transgender, lesbian, and gay individuals. People who have left the LGBTQ lifestyle and turned to Jesus are taking part in a freedom march in Los Angeles this weekend.   Praise will be heard and testimonies will be shared at the  Freedom March  in Pershing Square. The hope is more people will come to Jesus and be completely transformed. Jeffrey McCall is the founder of this movement and he says this march is not about suppressing anyone, but finding freedom in Christ.    "I really want to send the message to the LGBTQ community that there is hope...To say, 'Hey, we were in the same lifestyle you were in and we came out of that and followed Christ and there's a whole 'nother life. A life that we didn't even know was possible. A life with joy, and peace, and freedom,'" he told CBN News.   "We want to reach back out and le...

Jeffrey McCall: From Transgender to Transformed by God

Image
In major cities across the country, Jeffrey McCall organizes freedom marches.  These events feature men and women who have  left the LBGT life . One of the speakers is McCall himself, who struggled with homosexuality and drugs until the age of 23 when he decided he was in the wrong body and began living as a woman named "Scarlett." As Scarlett, he began drinking heavily and prostituting his body. During those two years, he was secretly watching Jentezen Franklin's sermons on YouTube. Jeffrey surrendered to God soon after hearing God tell him "You will live for me." "I started struggling with same-sex attraction around twelve, and around fifteen years old I acted on it, "McCall told  CBN .  McCall always wanted love. But over the years his sexual encounters left him feeling empty and used. "So, from 18 to 23, I lived in Nashville, Tennessee.  And in those years, my whole identity was in being homosexual," he said. "I just pa...

Image
Ex-homosexual and ex-transgender men and women from around the country descended upon the Nation’s Capital this weekend for the Second Annual ‘Freedom March’ where they proclaimed the freedom they've found in abandoning homosexual and transgender practices.  “Look at this!  This is Amazing!  They say we don’t exist!” declared author and documentary producer  M.J. Nixon , a March co-founder, as many gathered for a group picture.  About 200 participated this year—a threefold increase over last year. Former transwoman Jeffrey McCall  kicked off the rally on the grounds of the Washington Monument, explaining that nobody here was forced to change; “It was the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of Jesus Christ that fell on all of us.” One testimony after another from the racially diverse group of mostly millennials spoke about their personal conversion to Jesus and the freedom they have found from lives dominated by active homosexuality or gende...

LGBT lied about ex-gay ministries

Image
Since its beginnings in the 1970s, the ex-gay movement has engaged gay advocates in a battle of testimonies. Transformed ex-gay leaders are the best argument for their movement. Likewise, those who've left the ex-gay movement in despair and disgust are the best counterargument. The debate continued this June, when Exodus International held its 32nd annual conference in Irvine, California, featuring dozens of speakers and seminar leaders who have quit homosexuality.  Down the road outside the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, a news conference featured three former Exodus leaders saying "ex-gay" is a delusion. New research may change the terms of the debate. Psychologists Stanton Jones of Wheaton College and Mark Yarhouse of Regent University released today a book detailing their findings from the first three years of an ongoing study. They are investigating participants in 16 different ex-gay programs associated with Exodus, the largest ex-gay ministry gr...
