Mitt Romney: I still believe in traditional marriage

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , March 5, 2013, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Although his critics mercilessly criticized him for changing his positions on a number of political issues, Mitt Romney says that he has not changed his mind on the definition of marriage. The 2012 Republican presidential candidate's fortitude on the issue comes as Beltway insiders in his party are pressing the grassroots to stifle its longstanding commitment to defend marriage. In his first post-election interview on  Fox News Sunday , Chris Wallace asked the former Massachusetts governor about the 80 Republicans – many of whom never held elective office – who signed an  amicus curiae  brief asking the Supreme Court to overturn restrictions on same-sex “marriage.” When asked if his views had “evolved at all” on redefining marriage, Mitt Romney replied, “No.” “I believe that marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman, and that's because I believe the ideal setting for raising a child is ...

Washington, D.C. October 29, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews ) – The homosexual Log Cabin Republicans group have endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney , after an October 17 meeting in Virginia. The meeting between Romney and the homosexual group, which reportedly lasted only fifteen minutes, was closed to the press and not announced in advance. According to reports, the meeting focused on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which, if passed, could force faith-based institutions and schools to hire open homosexuals.  There was  some speculation  in the media that Romney secured the group’s endorsement by promising to support the bill; however, neither Romney’s campaign nor the Log Cabin group have confirmed any commitment regarding the legislation. “He gave us a firm personal view of opposing workplace discrimination without endorsing ENDA specifically,” said Log Cabin Republican Jim Kolbe , who attended the meeting. Log Cabin Republican’s executi...

I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.” Campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul  confirmed  that Mitt Romney continues to hold that belief today.  However, she said Romney, who served as a member of its executive board, has not pressured the organization to change its stance and does not wish to see the Scouts  forced to accept homosexuals . Obama puts gay ‘marriage’ stance front and center on the campaign trail

Image
May 17, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - After announcing his support for gay “marriage” earlier this month, President Obama appears to be putting the issue front and center in his campaign, reiterating his stance in a recently released campaign video, and in comments to the media and potential donors. In an interview filmed Monday for ABC ’s the View, Obama said that his current stance was influenced by gay family friends in “wonderful relationships” who told him he should support gay “marriage” and not just civil unions because “words matter.” Obama added that the issue is “going to be a big contrast in the campaign,” since his opponent, Mitt Romney , is in favor of a constitutional amendment that would ban gay “marriage.”  His remarks echoed criticisms directed at the presumptive Republican nominee in a  campaign video released last week which accused Romney of wanting to “take us back” rather than “move us forward.” The president was elusive about his own stance...

Deutsch: Joe Biden und Barack Obama in Springfield (Illinois), gleich nachdem Biden formell durch Obama als Kandidat für die Vizepräsidentschaft vorgestellt wurde English: Joe Biden und Barack Obama in Springfield, Illinois, right after Biden was formerly introduced by Obama as his running mate (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) President Obama has now made the definition of marriage a defining issue in the presidential contest, especially in swing states like Ohio, North Carolina , Virginia, Florida and Nevada.. His administration is already trying to dismantle the nation's marriage laws by refusing to defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court. All the state marriage amendments and laws are at risk under a president who actively wants to change the definition of marriage. NOM will work ceaselessly in these swing states and across the nation to preserve traditional marriage because it is profoundly in the public good to do so. God is the author of marriage, and we will not let an ac...

Confidential tax documents of pro-marriage group released: NOM points finger at Obama admin.

Image
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is calling for an investigation of the Obama Administration , a liberal news outlet, and a gay rights group, all of whom NOM says may have violated federal law through their involvement in releasing the organization’s confidential tax information to the public. NOM’s 2008 1099 tax form, which contains the names and addresses of NOM donors, was published late last month in a Huffington Post article that accuses presidential candidate Mitt Romney of funding the prominent pro-traditional marriage group “under the radar.” Romney had sent a $10,000 check to the organization during the battle over California’s Proposition 8 , the ballot initiative which constitutionally defined marriage as a union between one man and one woman in the state. Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage The Huffington Post article calls the donation “secretive,” because it was made through a chapter of Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC in Alabama, a ...

Romney dodges question about homosexual adoption in CNN interview

In response to a question by CNN ’s Wolf Blitzer about whether he thought it was “good” that homosexuals are able to adopt children during an intervi Image via Wikipedia ew last week, Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney repeatedly dodged the question,  responding  only, “I’m not going to change that.” Romney has  previously said  that homosexuals have a “legitimate interest” in adoptions. During the CNN interview, he also said that he believes homosexual adoption should be decided on a state-by-state basis. As the interview progressed, Romney expressed his belief that “marriage” should be a term reserved for men and women, but added that if people “enter into contracts with one another that are between same-sex individuals, they’re free to do so.” “Look, if two people of the same gender want to live together and enter into a contract with each other, so be it,” he continued. “But don’t pretend that it’s marriage. And society, as a whole, will benefit by ha...
