Now you are a bigot?

This is not hype or exaggeration. It is a simple, legal truth. With the signing of the “Respect for Marriage Act” into law, if you do not accept or affirm same-sex “marriage,” you are now in the same category as a racist. And you can be assured that this will be used as a weapon against you in the days to come. How can I make such statements? Let me remind you of the exact language of the bill, beginning with the opening words: “This act provides statutory authority for same-sex and interracial marriages.” I have already discussed the reasons why this language was used since, in reality, interracial marriages were no more under potential legal threat in America than apple pie or baseball.  The only reason marriage requires two people is because it requires a man and a woman. In this article, I want to point out how the language is being used to target and demonize those of us who affirm and welcome interracial marriage, which contains the fundamental elements of marriage (a man and...

Liberals have made ‘homophobia’ a completely meaningless word

Image
Christians are not commanded to simply “tolerate” their neighbors, they are commanded to  love  their neighbors—and love, in the Christian tradition , is not simply a feeling of warmth or affection, it is quite literally to  desire the other’s good .  Progressives, however, do not mean that we should all tolerate  people —they mean that everyone must tolerate  behaviors and lifestyles , regardless of whether some believe those lifestyles and behaviors to be harmful, and thus incompatible with desiring the other’s good. One example of this trend is how Christians in North America are being smeared with the “homophobia” label.  Being labeled “homophobic” today doesn’t actually mean that you fear or hate gay people. What it simply means is that you disagree some parts of the LGBTQ agenda, whether that be gay “marriage” or transgender pronouns or religious liberty. In fact, you can have friends or family members who are members of this communi...

John MacArthur responds to the homosexual marriage agenda

Image
If you've been watching the headlines over the last couple years, you may have noticed the incredible surge of interest in affirming homosexuality. Whether it's at the heart of a religious scandal, political corruption, radical legislation, or the redefinition of marriage, homosexual interests have come to characterize America. That's an indication of the success of the gay agenda. And some Christians, including somenational church leaders, have wavered on the issue even recently. But sadly, when people refuse to acknowledge the sinfulness of homosexuality--calling evil good and good evil ( Isaiah 5:20 )--they do so at the expense of many souls. How should you respond to the success of the gay agenda? Should you accept the recent trend toward tolerance? Or should you side with those who exclude homosexuals with hostility and disdain? In reality, the Bible calls for a balance between what some people think are two opposing reactions--condemnation and compassion. Really,...

Pastor John Piper’s Response to Gay Marriage Ruling is AMAZING

In a 5-to-4 decision, the Supreme Court of the United States of America has ruled that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. The Bible is not silent about such decisions. Alongside its clearest explanation of the sin of homosexual intercourse ( Romans 1:24–27 ) stands the indictment of the approval and institutionalization of it. Though people know intuitively that homosexual acts (along with gossip, slander, insolence, haughtiness, boasting, faithlessness, heartlessness, ruthlessness) are sin, “they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them” ( Romans 1:29–32 ). “I tell you even with tears, that many glory in their shame” ( Philippians 3:18–19 ). This is what the highest court in our land did today — knowing these deeds are wrong, “yet approving those who practice them.” My sense is that we do not realize what a calamity is happening around us. The new thing — new for America, and new for history — is not homosexuality. That brokenness has been here since we were al...

John Piper: Same-sex marriage is 'a mirage in our culture'

US church leader and theologian John Piper has addressed a controversial topic in the latest ' Ask Pastor John ' segment on his blog – would he marry a couple who have chosen to live together before they wed? Those who do not support pre-marital unions suggest that by agreeing to marry a co-habiting couple, a pastor endorses sin. Some even suggest that it is no different to marrying a gay or lesbian couple, which remains a hotly-debated topic within the Church. Piper –  a staunch opponent of homosexual marriage  - however, differentiates the two. "I would marry them in certain circumstances," he reveals of co-habiting heterosexual couples. The pastor notes his conviction that "sexual relations outside marriage is sin", but that "it is not unforgiveable". Piper shares that he would suggest that such a couple "repent and bear the fruit...And that fruit would be move out and stop living together until you are married. N...

Why Homosexuality Is Not Like Other Sins

Image
Homosexuality is not the only sin mentioned in  1 Corinthians 6:9–10 . Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. It’s not the only sin mentioned, but it is different from all the rest, at least right now. At this moment in history, contrary to the other sins listed here, homosexuality is celebrated by our larger society with pioneering excitement. It’s seen as a good thing, as the new hallmark of progress. To be sure, the masses increasingly make no bones about sin in general. Innumerable people are idolaters, not to mention those who are sexually immoral, or who commit adultery, or who steal and are greedy and get wasted and revile neighbors and swindle others. It happens all the time. And  each  of these unr...
