(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) NEW HAVEN, CT , April 17, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews ) – An Enfield, CT man who  pleaded guilty  to sending hundreds of threatening letters to the head of a pro-life, pro-family group in Hartford was sentenced Tuesday to five years’ probation by a federal judge. Daniel Sarno, 54, who is homosexual, admitted to sending over 300 letters to Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the  Family Institute of Connecticut , expressing his anger over the Family Institute’s opposition to same-sex “marriage.”  The letters he sent were uniformly abusive.  Many contained death threats. “No mercy for homophobes,” one letter  read . “I suggest you make your funeral arrangements real soon, Mr. Wolfgang. (I should know.)” Another letter  said , “I sure hope somebody blows you away. Yer dead.” Yet another asked, “Are ‘family values’ worth dying for, Mr. Wolfgang?” Sarno pleaded guilty las...

Family Research Council: The shots not heard ‘round the world

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , February 8, 2013, ( Family Research Council ) - It seems hard to believe, Jim Treacher wrote yesterday, "but once upon a time, there was a shooting the national news didn't want to talk about." That's because the shooting was at FRC. And although the gunman was a  politically-motivated activist  who stormed a building less than a mile from the White House , there's a reason most Americans have never heard of him. After years of  insisting that  conservatives  were the hateful ones , the attack at FRC was an inconvenient storyline for a media  bent on hiding  where the real intolerance lies. The day after Floyd Corkins walked into our headquarters and opened fire, I said that while Corkins was responsible for the shooting, he had been  given a license to perpetrate this act of violence by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) which has recklessly labeled every organization with which they disagree a "hate g...

Murderer uses Southern Poverty Law Centre's Hate list to target Christians

Image
It could have been me or my staff. That crossed my mind when I learned the  deeply disturbing breaking news : The Family Research Council shooter told the FBI he used the Southern Poverty Law Center 's " hate group " designation on their website to ID and target his victims for a would-be mass murder rampage. According to the  Associated Press , the shooter "also planned to target other organizations that oppose gay marriage if he wasn't stopped. [...] In his pants pocket, police found a handwritten list of groups that also oppose gay marriage." The brave security guard, Leo Johnson , a real hero, jumped the gunman after being shot, and saved the lives of countless decent, loving law-abiding Americans... but to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Leo's a hater in a hate group. The SPLC, once a respected civil rights organization that targeted racist skinhead hate groups bent on dehumanizing their fellow Americans, has decided that it can...

Terrorism charges for Family Research Council shooting suspect

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , October 25, 2012,  – A federal grand jury has added terrorism to the charges facing the gay rights activists accused of shooting a security guard at the headquarters of the Family Research Council . The United States Attorney’s Office announced several new charges, including the terrorism charge, yesterday. The terrorism charge, which carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison, is the first ever under a 2002 District of Columbia anti-terrorism statute. Floyd Corkins Other charges added by the grand jury include attempted murder while armed, aggravated assault while armed, and weapons charges. Corkins has already pleaded not guilty to charges of interstate transportation of a firearm, assault with intent to kill while armed, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.  Corkins,  who had been a volunteer  at a local homosexual activist organization, allegedly invaded the lobby of FRC on August 15 armed with a 9mm pisto...

‘Hero’ FRC security guard released from hospital: alleged shooter pleads ‘not guilty’

Image
WASHINGTON, D.C. , August 24, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The man who has been extolled as a “hero” after putting a stop to what could have been a much worse tragedy last week at the Family Research Council , has just been released from hospital. Leo Johnson was shot in the arm on August 15, after confronting a gunman who allegedly walked into FRC’s building, expressed disagreement with the organization’s politics, and opened fire. Despite being shot, Leo was able to subdue the shooter and call for help. “I am thankfully now out of the hospital,” Johnson said in a statement on Friday, adding that while his condition “continues to improve,” he will likely need another surgery. “I want to thank everyone for the support and prayers during my recovery,” Johnson wrote. “I thank the media for their interest but ask for their understanding of my family’s desire for privacy as I focus on getting better.” The alleged gunman, Virginia resident Floyd Lee Corkins II, appeared i...

Fanning the flames of left-wing violence: the complicity of SPLC in the FRC shooting

Image
August 20, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - To borrow from President Obama’s Black Nationalist mentor, Jeremiah Wright , the Southern Poverty Law Center ’s hate-baiting chickens “have come home to roost.” The hard-left group has become everything it presumes to expose. On Wednesday, homosexual activist Floyd Corkins allegedly entered the Washington-based Family Research Council (FRC) armed with a gun and a backpack full of ammunition. He also had 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches (FRC recently defended the food chain’s COO Dan Cathy for pro-natural marriage statements). The only thing standing between Corkins and mass murder was FRC facilities manager and security specialist Leo Johnson . As Corkins shouted disapproval for FRC’s “politics,” he shot Johnson who, despite a severely wounded arm, managed to tackle Corkins and disarm him (of course, this is all impossible as it’s illegal in Washington, D.C. , to carry a concealed weapon). Of Johnson’s actions, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier sa...

Left wing liberal talk show host blames FRC shooting on ‘gutter Christians’ who went ‘too far’

Image
NEW YORK, August 20, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The “ filthy, degenerate, gutter Christians ” at the Family Research Council inspired last week’s shooting by “going too far” with their pro-family activism, according to a nationally syndicated liberal talk show host. “You filthy, filthy right-wing b——-ds, you’re going too far!” Mike Malloy told his audience last week. “One of these days somebody’s going to go berserk and walk into one of your filthy holes of religious insanity with a gun.” Switching to a mocking tone, Malloy said, “Oh. I think that happened today.” Malloy went on to say the council would “happily sacrifice” a 10-year-old child who was raped by a relative “to save their G—d—-ed fetus.” “I cannot come up with harsh enough or strong enough language about these scum,” Malloy  said before calling FRC President Tony Perkins a “filthy swine” and the FRC “a council of G—d—-ned Christian corpse-eaters.” The host, whose “progressive” views are syndicated by...
