A spokesman for the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) told LifeSiteNews.com they are concerned that with the appointment, Michael “ Cashman will use his role in Britain’s ‘revising chamber’ to continue his campaigning against life and family.” Cashman, a retired Labor Party-affiliated MEP who represented the West Midlands in the European Parliament since 1999 and retired in May, has been a key player in the press for Britain to adopt the LGBT political agenda. He was one of the principal figures within Stonewall  pressuring the group  to adopt as a lead policy the demand to change the definitio...

The law will come into effect mid-2014. All three of the main parties in Parliament supported the bill, though there was significant opposition within the ruling Conservative party .  Colin Hart, director of the Campaign for Marriage said that Prime Minister David Cameron , leader of the Tory party, “needs to remember that the Coalition for Marriage has nearly 700,000 supporters, nearly six times the number of members of the Conservative Party”.  These, he said, are “just ...

Queen Elizabeth II has today given Royal Assent to the coalition government’s bill creating gay “marriage,” after the House of Commons   approved minor amendments on Tuesday . These, he said, are “just ordinary men and women, not part of the ruling elite. They are passionate, motivated and determined to fight on against a law that renders terms like husband and wife meaningless and threatens one of the foundations of the institution of marriage: fidelity and faithfulness.”  Throughout the process, opponents of ...

House of Lords pass immoral homosexual ‘marriage’ law: expected to receive Royal Assent by end of week

Image
WESTMINSTER , July 16, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The House of Lords passed the coalition government’s gay “marriage” bill last night without a formal vote. The bill will now make a brief stop this evening in the House of Commons for approval of the Peers’ amendments, after which it is expected to receive Royal Assent by the end of the week. Once made law, homosexual partners will be able to “marry” throughout England and Wales by mid-2014. Similar legislation in Scotland is expected to pass easily. Amendments passed in the House of Lords focused on minor points of law regarding occupational pension benefits and the application of the bill to Jewish Synagogues. During the debate, Patrick Thomas Cormack , Baron Cormack, addressed the victors. “I understand that you feel euphoric today but please have a thought for those who have different views and for the many, not just thousands but millions of people in this country, for whom marriage will always be equated with what remain...

UK gay ‘marriage’ bill ignores children’s right to a mother and father: campaign group

Image
The needs of children of a father and mother are being ignored in favor of the putative “rights” of homosexuals in the rush to pass the same-sex “marriage” bill, a family campaign group has said.  The coalition government’s same-sex “marriage” bill is being considered in a committee of the House of Lords started today after being passed “in principle” in an overwhelming vote of 390 – 148 in favor.  Gay Marriage , No Thanks says it is aiming “to put the wellbeing of children at the centre of the same-sex marriage debate.” The group called  Gay Marriage, No Thanks , an “informal group of professionals and parents,” said today that the bill is entirely “adult focused” and ignores the human right of children to be reared by both natural parents. The group says it aims “to put the wellbeing of children at the centre of the same-sex marriage debate.”  The group has taken out an ad in the Times addressed to the members of the House of Lords that laid out ten r...

Anglican bishops in House of Lords were pressured to withdraw from immoral homosexual ‘marriage’ vote

Image
WESTMINSTER ,  – Anglican bishops who sit in the House of Lords and oppose the same-sex “marriage” bill were put under pressure to keep away from the vote on the bill yesterday. John Bingham, Religious Affairs Editor of the Daily Telegraph ,  reported  that “senior officials” of the government had “personally urged bishops to stay away from this week’s vote.”  Bingham explains that there were fears that a large bloc of Christian clergy – 26 bishops are entitled to sit in the House of Lords – voting against the “gay marriage” bill could have an impact on the future of their presence in the House, and even re-open the question of disestablishment of the Church of England . The bishops were reportedly told that the current bill is the “best they can hope for”. The House of Lords Fears that the bill might be defeated with the help of the bishops were unfounded. The bill  passed overwhelmingly  in its first vote, 390 – 148 in favor.  Prior to ...

UK Lords vote for immoral homosexual ‘marriage’ bill:

Image
Marriage campaigners in Britain have vowed to keep fighting the government ’s plans to install same-sex “marriage,” despite today’s vote in which an overwhelming majority of members of the House of Lords supported sending the bill on to the next stage.  Although observers on both sides of the issue had predicted a close vote, the Peers tonight voted 390 – 148 in favor. The bill will now go on to the committee phase and possible amendments before a final vote in the Lords. House of Lords Paul Tully, General Secretary of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children , said that his organization is continuing the fight against the bill.  “ Redefining marriage in law as a genderless institution unconnected with child-bearing will strip marriage of its identity,” Tully said. “Whatever the fate of the government's bill, we must continue to fight to preserve the protection real marriage gives to children, both born and unborn.”  The first vote on a piece of...

House of Lords vote on gay ‘marriage’ ‘too close to call’: vote postponed to Tuesday

Image
This week’s vote in the UK ’s House of Lords on the coalition government’s proposed gay ‘marriage’ law is “too close to call,”  according to   Lord Alli , a staunch supporter of the marriage redefinition bill. Meanwhile, so many Peers want to speak on the bill that the vote has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon. Although the initial vote on legislation that is passed on to the Lords is normally only on the principle of the bill, which is then passed on to committee, opponents of the bill intend to force a formal vote on whether to reject the bill itself – a move that could see the bill defeated outright by 5:00 pm Tuesday. Lord Geoffey Dear, who is spearheading opposition to the bill in the House of Lords, said: “This Bill was not in the Conservative manifesto, has not been subject to a Royal Commission, Green Paper or White paper or any of the normal procedures and safeguards you would expect for legislation of this significance.  Lord Geoffrey Dear "...

Kevin Rudd illogical thinking on immoral Homosexual Marriage

Image
English: Kevin Rudd, 26th Prime Minister of Australia. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Why did Kevin Rudd frame the same-sex marriage debate as a Christian issue? He is suggesting that whatever issues Christians support can not be secular. What nonsense, writes Michael Cook. In a blaze of carefully-scripted publicity, after long and deep reflection, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has endorsed same-sex marriage . The odd thing about the essay in which he explains why he changed his mind is that he has framed the debate as a Christian issue. Rudd describes himself as "a bit of a god-botherer" (aka Christian) who has been seeking Christian reasons to support same-sex marriage. "Given that I am allowed a conscience vote on these issues, then what constitutes for me a credible Christian view of same-sex marriage?" he wrote. This is an odd question for an experienced politician. Surely in the days when Rudd opposed the legalisation of same-sex marriage he was not doin...
