Canada’s largest newspaper: Catholic schools must back LGBT ‘rights’ or risk losing public funding

Image
Canada’s largest newspaper threatened Catholic schools in an editorial that unless they get in line with homosexuality and transgender “rights,” support will only grow for an end to their public funding. The Toronto Star’s Monday editorial also excoriated beleaguered Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) trustee Mike Del Grande and called for the board to censure him.  Del Grande — along with Teresa Lubinski, Garry Tanuan and Nancy Crawford — voted November 7 after months of bitter debate not to add “gender identity, gender expression, family status and marital status” to the TCDSB’s code of conduct as prohibited grounds for discrimination. The many delegates and opponents of the policy change argued that adding the terms endorses spurious gender ideology in Catholic schools in contravention of Catholic teaching, leading to great harm to students. But eight trustees led by chair Maria Rizzo voted to include the terms, arguing that the board had to follow a minis...

Ontario’s sex ed puts kids in danger - but you won’t hear that from mainstream media

Image
A few weeks ago, at the invitation of several parent organizations, I traveled from New York to Toronto and addressed a crowd of almost one thousand people. It was dinner time and mid-week, but we ran out of chairs. When the topic is graphic sex education for children, people show up. The sex ed portion of the curriculum imposed by liberal premier Kathleen Wynne , I explained, is not about health, but about molding the attitudes of children. The goal is to produce students who respect and affirm nearly any type of sexual lifestyle . Teachers will promote an ideology which has nothing to do with disease prevention and everything to do with sexual license. My talk (watch it  here ) and accompanying PowerPoint included lots of hard science: the immature cervix, the physiology of the vagina and rectum, the differentiation of the embryonic brain, and the prefrontal cortex of the adolescent. You see, Premier Wynne’s curriculum omits all that. It fails to provide students ...

Toronto District School Board opens its first co-ed washroom

Image
An “alternative” school dedicated to “equity” issues has opened the Toronto District School Board ’s first co-ed washroom . Intended primarily for students identifying as “transgender,” the washroom was set up after a petition by grade 8 students that cited last year’s passage of Bill 33, which enshrined protections based on “ gender identity ” and “gender expression” in Ontario. The school board unveiled the washroom at City View Alternative Senior School on Friday in a sign-hanging ceremony, according to the Toronto Star . City View caters to Grade 7 and 8 students and is dedicated to “peace and social justice,” teaching the curriculum “through the lens of race, class, gender, sexuality, and ability.” Its website says there are 64 students and four teachers. Ryan Bird, a spokesman for the Toronto District School Board, told LifeSiteNews that the washroom has two stalls, meaning that it would be a shared space for boys and girls. Cheri Di Novo, who proposed the “gen...

Gay-straight alliances starting up in Ontario elementary schools

Image
Some schools have gay–straight alliances or similar groups to counter homophobia and bullying and provide support for LGBT students in school. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) TORONTO, Teachers at elementary schools across Ontario are being encouraged to start up gay straight alliances to cater to children in even the earliest grades, reports the Toronto Star . The day before the passage of the McGuinty government’s controversial homosexual “rights” Bill 13 that forces homosexual activist clubs on all the province’s schools, the Star  reported  that a teacher at Toronto ’s Westwood Middle School , Natasha Garda, started a GSA last year. According to the paper, members of Garda’s elementary school gay-straight alliance “recently ran workshops for local Grade 5 students about gender stereotypes and homophobia,” during which “Westwood students presented a skit about gender stereotypes in which a boy is teased for wearing a pink shirt, and helped the younger students find ste...

Praising the play while ignoring the performance: Obama’s misguided support for gay ‘marriage’

Image
Official photographic portrait of US President Barack Obama (born 4 August 1961; assumed office 20 January 2009) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) May 22, 2012 (HLIAmerica.org) - The May 11, 2012 editorial of the  Toronto Star  offers high praise for President Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage . The editor credits the U.S. president with showing “rare courage,” while at the same time advancing the cause for “civil rights.” In approving the legalization of marriage between a man and a man, and a woman and a woman, according to the editorial, Obama is affirming the “full humanity of gays and lesbians.”  He is “weighing in on the side of compassion, inclusion and equal rights for all.” How could millennia of diverse cultures, until recently, have missed issues of such fundamental importance? Has society now undergone a quantum leap of moral courage and perspicacity? The editorial serves as a text-book example of how a rhetorician can maintain his ground while b...

When Christians are bullied by the pro- homosexual government agenda

Image
“We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we in agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.” —Isaiah 28:15, KJV March 21, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Recently, the  Toronto Star —that purported clarion of journalistic objectivity that is in reality little more than a running endorsement of secular humanist causes—focused on the alleged plight of a woman described as “a Catholic, a mom and a lesbian,” a combination of terms that would have been not only socially unacceptable in any previous age but both a biological and theological impossibility.  One may have been a lesbian but not in convergence with motherhood or faithful membership in the Roman Catholic Church . But that really was another age.  In this progressive era, this mother of two was shocked to discover  that, despite the dictates of the Royal Dalton government, St. Joseph...

Toronto school board threatens Tories over criticism of ‘no opt-out’ policy on homosexual classes

Image
TORONTO, Ontario ,  – The Toronto District School Board is threatening action against the Ontario PC Party after the party targeted the board’s mandatory “anti-homophobia” program in a flyer during last month’s provincial election campaign. In an October 24th letter to PC leader Tim Hudak , TDSB board chair Chris Bolton claims the flyer included “inaccurate and misleading comments” about the curriculum and wrongly alleged that the board was keeping it “secret from parents.” The curriculum, which begins discussing homosexual families in kindergarten with books like “Gloria Goes to Gay Pride,” and aims to transform students into social activists by the end of high school, explicitly forbids parents from opting their kids out of the controversial classes and advises schools not to alert parents in advance. The PC Party, led by Tim Hudak, has held firm and refused to apologize for criticizing the Toronto curriculum. The flyer, distributed in some GTA ridings the weekend before the O...

The Genderless Child

Image
Image via Wikipedia A Toronto couple is raising their baby to be genderless , refusing to identify the child either as a boy or a girl, so that he or she can choose his or her own sexual identity .  The baby, named Storm, is now 4 months old.  This article explains how the parents are managing this:     Parents keep child’s gender secret – Parentcentral.ca . But I thought we were supposed to believe that sexual identity is  not  a choice, but rather an innate condition, that, in the words of Lady Gaga , “I was born this way.”  So it is a choice after all?  And nature must have  nothing  to do with it? This sounds like another form of child sacrifice to me.
