Many leaders disagree on the USA Court decision on homosexual marriage

Image
English: Al Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The Supreme Court decided Friday (June 26) to legalize gay marriage across the United States in a 5-4 vote. The historic ruling that overturned same-sex marriage bans in 13 states came as a concern to many Christians, who believe marriage should be reserved for one man and one woman. Evangelical leaders are now speaking out in response to the ruling that changed American history forever. Russell Moore , president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention urged Christians not to panic . In a blog published on The Washington Post website, Moore wrote, “The Supreme Court can do many things, but the Supreme Court cannot get Jesus back in that tomb. Jesus of Nazareth is still alive. He is still calling the universe toward his kingdom.” He continued, “The church will need in the years ahead to articulate what we believe about marriage; w

Are Christians obligated to keep God's moral law on homosexuality?

Exodus International president Alan Chambers has, explained the Orlando-based ministry's recent U-turn on reparative therapy. And while the organization's stance remains acceptable to most evangelicals, some scholars fear that Chambers's theological convictions—sprinkled throughout those interviews—have not. "It's not that he is simply not saying the warnings [against homosexual activity] in Scripture. I could live with that," Pittsburgh Theological Seminary professor Robert Gagnon said of Chambers's recent comments. "It's that he is saying the exact opposite of what Scripture clearly teaches … . He's preaching an anti-gospel." The theological heresy in question is antinomianism. The term was coined by Martin Luther to refer to those who believe that since faith is sufficient for salvation, Christians are not obligated to keep God's moral law. Andy Stanley, Al Mohler, and Homosexuality

Author of article: Andrew Marin. Andrew forgets to mention that this backslidden man and his partner sort to serve in another North Point Church hence indicating their lack of understanding of the gravity and offense of the sin of homosexuality .  Second, (it appears) Stanley did not follow biblical discipline on the father and his partner because the campus pastor(s) of the other site either was not aware of the situation by allowing them to fulfill hosting roles or they simply accommodated the situation. This is standard behaviour perform your sin, leave church and go quietly to another without confession of sin. Thatis what occurred here and ahppens in many church when people seek to hide sin.  Andrew incorrectly stacks Mohler's worldview against Stanley. This is not correct. ........................................................................................................... Homophobia and the Church

Image
Image via Wikipedia Anyone opposed to the acceptance of homosexual behavior as a healthy, normal, moral equivalent to heterosexuality is often accused of homophobia – an irrational fear of those engaged in homosexual behavior.   This same label is applied to any church that teaches biblical morality on the issue.  Recently, Bill Hybels , Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago , had to  defend  his church’s loving and biblical morality teachings against an attack from a homosexual activist who persuaded the head of Starbucks to breach his contract to speak at the church’s leadership summit.  Some churches, like Mt. Hope Church in East Lansing, Michigan , are sometimes even physically attacked  by radical groups who support the homosexual agenda like BashBack! (an indication of irrational fear on their part). But most pastors and churches I’m familiar with are like Willow Creek and love those caught up in homosexual behavior, wanting them to experience the freedom th
