NEW YORK CITY , March 21, 2014  – A five-panel appellate court has ruled that having sex in a public school classroom is no reason to lose your job. Justices with the Manhattan Appellate Division have ordered James Madison High School to reinstate two lesbian teachers whom they fired after a janitor found them having sex inside a classroom during a school event. French teacher Cindy Mauro, 38, and Spanish teacher Alini Brito, 34, went to a bar after school, then returned to attend a school singing competition in January 2011. They left the event and went into Room 337, when the custodian found the pair engaged in sexual activity. Both were naked from the waist up.  The school fired the pair, both of whom had tenure. The teachers denied any wrongdoing, saying that Brito needed to get something to eat to stabilize her blood sugar, and filed a lawsuit. On Thursday, the panel ruled, “The penalty of termination of unemployment is shockingly disproportion...

NEW YORK , March 19, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The largest American Catholic civil rights organization is taking on the largest brewer of stout beer in the world. The Catholic League ’s Bill Donohue has called for a boycott of Guinness after the beer company pulled its sponsorship of New York’s St. Patrick’s Day parade because organizers barred homosexual activists from marching. Guinness is owned by British liquor giant Diageo . “The corporate officers at Guinness who think they can get away with this in-your-face gesture are sadly mistaken,” Donohue said. “There is a price to be paid for anti-Catholic bigotry, and that is exactly what is driving Guinness to act.” “No gay person has ever been barred from marching in any St. Patrick’s Day parade, any more than the parade bans pro-life Catholics or vegetarian Catholics; they simply cannot march under their own banner,” he explained. “The parade is quintessentially Catholic. … It is this Catholic element that angers...

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 11, 2013, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Critics are asking why a new Quinnipiac poll is claimimg that the majority of America Catholics suport same-sex “marriage” when suppressed data reveals the numbers are almost exactly reversed for the faithful. Quinnipiac released a poll on Friday headlined, “ American Catholics Support Same-Sex Marriage,” announcing that Catholics back redefining marriage by a margin of 54-38 percent. Bill Donohue , president of the Catholic League . But critics quickly questioned the way the data was presented and whether they truly reflect the views of American Catholics. Fully 39 percent of those surveyed said they do not practice their faith, with 11 percent saying they “never” attend church. “Leaving aside the not insignificant fact that the sample size of Catholics was a mere 497, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent,” said Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, there is a “more problematic methodolo...

NEW YORK, March 13, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Catholics and non-Catholics alike have reacted to a viciously anti-Catholic   full-page advertisement  in Friday’s  New York Times . The Freedom From Religion Foundation ’s ad, which takes the form of  a letter to a “liberal Catholic,”   asks “Cafeteria” Catholics, “Why are you propping up the pillars of a tyrannical and autocratic, woman-hating, sex-perverting, antediluvian Old Boys Club?” Its authors accuse “the conscienceless Catholic Church ” of “launching a vengeful modern-day Inquisition” by opposing the HHS mandate that religious employers provide contraception, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs in their health insurance coverage. “No politician should jeopardize electability for failure to genuflect before the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops .” They tell those who do not believe in the Magisterium of the Church, “Your continuing Catholic membership, as a ‘liberal,’ casts a veneer of respectabil...

Image
Image via Wikipedia The city of Chicago ordered its police force not to enforce the law against a mob of homosexualist activists who disrupted Mass at the Holy Name Cathedral to protest “anti-gay bigots” who support the Church’s teaching on marriage. The Gay Liberation Network staged the rally on the eve of Valentine’s Day, shouting and chanting loudly as churchgoers entered to celebrate Sunday Mass . The demonstration’s primary target was Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, who has spoken out in defense of traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Protesters had staged a similar disruption around the same time last year. In response to the protest, George, who was not present at the cathedral, acknowledged that the issue is deeply emotional on both sides but, “No matter the issue, Catholics should be able to worship in peace, without fear of harassment.” The  National Organization for Marriage  (NOM) released a video of the protest showing rainbow flag-waving p...
