UN report demands the Church change teaching on homosexuality

Image
ROME ,– A report by a UN human rights committee is a thinly disguised ideological attack on the Church’s teachings on homosexuality – and even the nature of human sexuality – under the guise of a critique of the sex abuse scandals, says a leading pro-life NGO . Pat Buckley, the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children ’s representative in Geneva, said the Committee on the Rights of the Child that drafted the report has “significantly overstepped its mandate” by demanding changes to Catholic teaching.   “There is nothing in the Convention [on the rights of the child], which requires the Catholic Church or any other body to facilitate abortion, contraception or homosexuality,” Buckley said. The Church,  the report said , must identify “circumstances under which access to abortion services can be permitted.” It must “overcome all the barriers and taboos surrounding adolescent sexuality that hinder their access to sexual and reproductive information, including...

Gender ideology pushed at EU through bogus data methods: pro-family groups

Image
BRUSSELS ,– Pro-family organisations are again sounding the alarm across Europe at an attempt by homosexual activist EU politicians to force member states to teach children “gender ideology” under the guise of mandatory “sex education,” programmes that would include promotion of homosexual activity as normative. At the same time, the groups are calling foul on the methods used to obtain the data being used to back the effort, accusing the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency of fabricating data to bring about a foregone, ideologically motivated conclusion. Some time between February 3 rd  and 6 th  the European Parliament   is expected  to debate and vote upon the report by Ulrike Lunacek , an Austrian MEP and the co-president of the European Parliament’s homosexual rights group. The Lunacek Report, titled “Roadmap against homophobia and discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity,” seeks to force all member states to implement a “sex...

Catholic Labor MP's Experience equals homosexual ignorance

Image
A Labour Party Member of Parliament who said that she voted for the government’s “gay marriage” despite her Catholic faith , “seems to be suffering from the modern disease of terminal non-judgmentalism,” said one of the country’s top advocates of traditional marriage today. “This is not surprising, considering the way in which the dictatorship of relativism has not been resisted in many Catholic homes, schools and churches,” added Anthony Ozimic, communications manager for the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC), who have been leading a national campaign against the bill. Catherine McKinnell Catherine McKinnell, MP for Newcastle upon Tyne North ,  said during debate  on the bill in the Commons that she was speaking not as someone who believes “strongly that either side of the argument is absolutely right, but because I can see both sides.” She said that her views were “inextricably bound” to her “experience,” and that though she had struggled with ...

UK Lords vote for immoral homosexual ‘marriage’ bill:

Image
Marriage campaigners in Britain have vowed to keep fighting the government ’s plans to install same-sex “marriage,” despite today’s vote in which an overwhelming majority of members of the House of Lords supported sending the bill on to the next stage.  Although observers on both sides of the issue had predicted a close vote, the Peers tonight voted 390 – 148 in favor. The bill will now go on to the committee phase and possible amendments before a final vote in the Lords. House of Lords Paul Tully, General Secretary of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children , said that his organization is continuing the fight against the bill.  “ Redefining marriage in law as a genderless institution unconnected with child-bearing will strip marriage of its identity,” Tully said. “Whatever the fate of the government's bill, we must continue to fight to preserve the protection real marriage gives to children, both born and unborn.”  The first vote on a piece of...

House of Lords vote on gay ‘marriage’ ‘too close to call’: vote postponed to Tuesday

Image
This week’s vote in the UK ’s House of Lords on the coalition government’s proposed gay ‘marriage’ law is “too close to call,”  according to   Lord Alli , a staunch supporter of the marriage redefinition bill. Meanwhile, so many Peers want to speak on the bill that the vote has been postponed until tomorrow afternoon. Although the initial vote on legislation that is passed on to the Lords is normally only on the principle of the bill, which is then passed on to committee, opponents of the bill intend to force a formal vote on whether to reject the bill itself – a move that could see the bill defeated outright by 5:00 pm Tuesday. Lord Geoffey Dear, who is spearheading opposition to the bill in the House of Lords, said: “This Bill was not in the Conservative manifesto, has not been subject to a Royal Commission, Green Paper or White paper or any of the normal procedures and safeguards you would expect for legislation of this significance.  Lord Geoffrey Dear "...

UK bishops distribute 1 million postcards against gay ‘marriage’

Image
LONDON , January 30, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – According to the Catholic bishops , the UK government ’s proposed gay "marriage" bill eviscerates the meaning and content of marriage, reducing it to an institution divorced from its fundamental biological and social functions. Over the weekend, the Catholic bishops conference of England and Wales distributed one million postcards for churchgoers to send to MPs asking for the defeat of the legislation. Marriage , they said, cannot be understood unless it is "seen as intimately related to the conception and rearing of children”. But it is precisely this understanding that the government’s bill throws out. “Marriage,” they said, “is not only the institutional recognition of love and commitment. Marriage, as legally recognised in this country, is also the institutional recognition of a unique kind of relationship in which children are raised by their birth-parents. Even if this is not always possible in practice, the l...

‘Gay marriage’ push triggering ‘unprecedented’ response: Leading British pro-lifer

Image
David Cameron's picture on the 10 Downing Street website (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) LONDON, March 22, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Only a “huge mobilisation” of the public, guided and encouraged by strong and united religious leadership, will stop the Cameron government from instituting “gay marriage,” the head of Britain’s leading pro-life organisation told LifeSiteNews.com today. John Smeaton , director of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children ( SPUC ) said in an interview that he is “reasonably optimistic” about the prospect looming ahead. Despite the undeniable fact that David Cameron ’s “New Tory” government is “expressing its determination” to force a redefinition of marriage, Smeaton said that in today’s Britain, the public have become more aware of their rights and duties, and he predicts a “very big reaction against these plans.” A major part of this reaction, he predicted, is going to be an unprecedented coalition of Christian denominations and other religi...

British pro-life group launches campaign against gay marriage

Image
LONDON, England , January 11, 2012 - ( spuc.org ) -  The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has launched a campaign against the Westminster government’s proposals for same-sex marriage. SPUC has published  a position paper  on same-sex marriage following a resolution by SPUC’s Council last month. SPUC has also made available a  background paper  to be read in conjunction with the position paper and which provides some additional references and reflections. SPUC is the world’s oldest pro-life lobbying and educational organisation, founded in 1967. SPUC states that: - Marriage - the permanent, exclusive union of one man and one woman - is the basis of the family, the fundamental group unit of society. Upholding marriage is therefore in everyone’s interests. - Marriage as an institution protects children, both born and unborn. Statistics show that unborn children are much safer within marriage than outside marriage. - Same-sex marriage lacks ba...
