French group 'Stop Homophobie' sues church

Image
Renaissance catholique, a French lay association of traditional-minded Catholics, has been indicted for calling “to discriminate against a group of people because of their sexual orientation.” That offense is included in the list of “racist” crimes in the French penal law dealing with media offenses. The whole process was initiated by “Stop Homophobie,” an association that has the ear of the authorities, and it is not simply a show of impatience with a private association that has different views: The words which are being characterized as a hate crime are a summary of a 2003 note from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, presided at the time by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger who went on to become Pope Benedict XVI. It is precisely the condemnation of the legalization of civil unions for homosexuals that is being called to the attention of the French penal courts, as summarized in the 2019 “Declaration of the truths relating to some of the most common errors in the life of the Ch...

Police interrogate, collect DNA from French politician over ‘homophobic’ tweets

Image
A city counselor from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, a large town to the west of France where many kings had their residence since the 11th century, was summoned by police last week and submitted to DNA collecting because she was accused by Internet watchdogs of publishing a series of “homophobic” tweets. Agnès Cerighelli, 53, who claims to be a member of French president Emmanuel Macron’s “La République en Marche” (LREM) Party, is now under heavy fire from the mainstream press, which is calling her “crazy.” Cerighelli’s Twitter account contains a large number of messages condemning the influence of the “LGBT lobby.” She also regularly denounces legal access to medically assisted procreation for lesbians, which the LREM intends to push through Parliament, probably before the summer recess. She also makes no mystery of her Catholic beliefs. Cerighelli is an opposition counselor without official political affiliation and makes clear her support for Macron, which is a paradox, t...

Homosexual activist sues to have gay Frenchmen donate blood on demand

Image
Canada’s tainted blood scandal of the 1980s could be getting a sequel in France if a new lawsuit before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is successful. In 1997, Justice Horace Krever released a landmark commission report on systemic failures in Canada’s blood donation system that allowed approximately 2,000 Canadians to become infected with HIV from tainted blood in the 1980s. The report attributed the crisis to a variety of factors, one of which being the decision to import plasma acquired from high-risk populations in the United States. Despite this history, 48-year-old Laurent Drelon has filed a discrimination suit challenging France’s requirement that gay men abstain from sex for one year before donating blood, Yahoo News reports . The French Council of State upheld the rule last year. The one-year rule is itself a compromise from the country’s previous rule banning homosexuals from donating blood at all. But Drelon and his lawyer still find it intolerable. PLAYING W...

March for Marriage in Paris was so huge it shocked the organizers

Image
PARIS, October 18, 2016 – The “Manif pour tous” has done it again. On Sunday, the French capital was once again the meeting place for tens of thousands of peaceful but determined demonstrators demanding laws that respect true marriage and ban artificial procreation, especially surrogate motherhood and   in vitro   fertilization for same-sex couples. To be honest, in the absence of legislative deadlines, four and a half years into François Hollande ’s presidential mandate, no one was expecting an enormous turn-out. But some 200,000 people, according to the organizers – the police only counted 24,000, something of an understatement… – marched through the wide avenues of the residential 16th   arrondissement   à Paris towards the Place du Trocadéro , across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower , in the still warm autumn sun. Even the organizers were taken by surprise: the venue was too small for the crowds whose steady flow kept pouring onto the square between 3 ...

Protecting marriage isn’t enough – we must oppose gay ‘civil unions’ too

Image
Pacs day demonstration to request a Civil Unions Bill in Italy as well. Rome, May 17 2005, photo by Stefano Bolognini. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Philippe Ariño, one of the original initiators of the French “Manif pour tous” rallies against the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in November 2012, is suggesting that opposition to the law and its probable developments needs to be coherent and complete if it hopes to be efficient. In a recent and widely-circulated  article  published on his blog, he writes that the objective must be to put an end to legalized “civil unions” as well. Ariño, a non-practicing homosexual , left the “Manif pour tous” by March 2013, criticizing the movement’s figurehead, Frigide Barjot, for her stands on “homosexual love” and her insistence that civil unions were not only acceptable, but should benefit from a more favorable legal framework. Barjot herself was to be ousted from the organization for the same reason, but the “Manif pour tous” s...

Pew poll shows most nations around the world find homosexuality immoral

Image
April 22, 2014  – Not a single nation in the 40 countries surveyed by Pew Research Center said abortion is morally acceptable. The majority of the people in dozens of nations across every continent but Antarctica deemed abortion and homosexuality morally unacceptable, according to results from the  Pew Research Center’s 2013 Global Attitudes . An outright majority of citizens in 26 countries found abortion morally objectionable – 13 of them by a three-to-one margin. The nations with the lowest tolerance of abortion were the Philippines , followed by Ghana, Indonesia, Uganda, and El Salvador. Similarly, majorities in 22 nations  opposed homosexuality  on moral grounds. Majorities in only three countries say homosexuality is morally acceptable: the Czech Republic , Spain, and Germany. “The results of the Pew poll aren’t that surprising,” Adam Cassandra, communications manager of Human Life International , told LifeSiteNews.com. “HLI’s pro-life mission...

What underlies homophobia: the demand that discourse be structured to respond to delicacies, sensitivities, and ambitions of heterosexual middle-class white men

Image
Rainbow flag. Symbol of gay pride. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) David Blankenhorn posted some comments about me, and Maggie Gallagher has asked me to respond. Here are my two cents in italics: Here is my response: I do not know much of David Blankenhorn's life, even less of his deeper motives. The issues on which he has asserted a stake in the conversation are, I would remind him, not leisurely and slow for all of us. For some of us, engaging in a polite conversation would mean passively turning away from the danger posed to others. The striking words he uses are that he finds in in my voice nothing that reminds him of shared humanity or the complexities of experience. Much of what I write, especially of late, is about the experiences of people other than myself: the activists in France , the forgotten people in the US who write to me, the surrogate mothers in India , poor students in Belgium , etc. By contrast, his comment below revolves entirely about himself. The only thi...

Homosexual activists aim to ‘destroy the family’, impose ‘totalitarianism’: gay pro-family activist

Image
ROME , February 27, 2014  – “I am a homosexual, but I’m against ‘gay marriage,’” a French pro-family activist told an Italian Catholic opinion paper earlier this month. Jean-Pier-Delaume Myard, spokesman for Manif Pour Tous, told  La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana  that the “sole purpose” of the homosexualist “gay rights” movement is “destroying the family.” Myard gave the interview following the first big pro-family Manif Pour Tous event in Italy on February 11. Myard noted that in a recent talk, he said “we must break the silence” about the real nature of the homosexualist movement, noting that many homosexuals “have nothing to do either closely or from a distance with the gay lobby that has the sole purpose of destroying the family.” “Since the seventies the gay community in the United States has arrogated to itself the right to speak on behalf of all homosexuals in order to destroy marriage and the family,” he told the Catholic paper. At the start, they...
