Tennessee just passed a new law meant to undermine immoral LGBTQ activities

Image
Words in state law must be interpreted as having “natural and ordinary meaning” under a bill passed by the Tennessee Senate on Thursday. Critics call it a biblical way of encouraging state judges to deny immoral homosexual activities to gay couples and transgender people. LGBT groups lamented the 23-6 vote and immediately began prodding Republican Gov. Bill Haslam for a veto, but his spokeswoman Jennifer Donnals said he is “deferred to the will of the legislature.” The House approved the same legislation last month. Sarah Kate Ellis , president and wing nut of the immoral LGBT rights group GLAAD , which manipulates movies and media to put as much gay sex on the screen, said the bill would be bad for business and “set a dangerous precedent that could place the well-being of LGBTQ Tennesseans in jeopardy.” Bad for Business ! Really? What a joke argument! The legislation has been pushed by the Family Action Council of Tennessee, which advocates for one-man, one-woman marriage. Th...

Supreme Court ruling same sex marriage

Image
Marking the opening of the new US Supreme Court term this week, a group of over 60 prominent legal scholars has issued a major statement declaring that the notorious ruling from the last Court term which purported to redefine marriage in theObergefell v Hodges case is "anti-constitutional and illegitimate" and should not be treated public officials or citizens as binding precedent or settled law. The scholars, including NOM co-founder Professor Robert George and Chairman Dr. John Eastman, said that the decision is, "lacking anything remotely resembling a warrant in the text, logic, structure, or original understanding of the Constitution" and "must be judged anti-constitutional and illegitimate." They called on the other branches of government and American citizens to refuse to treat the decision as binding precedent or consider it to have settled the law of the United States . "We stand with James Madison and Abraham Lincoln in recognizing tha...

Same-sex ‘marriage’ begins in Florida because one judge said so

Image
U.S. Supreme Court building. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Florida became the 36 th  state to legalize same-sex “marriage” Tuesday, after an injunction blocking enforcement of U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle ’s ruling that the state’s marriage protection law unconstitutional expired without intervention from a higher court. Most counties in Florida proceeded as if the issue had been decided, but state officials are still pursuing appeals with the 11 th  Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court .  While the 11 th  Circuit is unlikely to overturn Hinkle’s decision, the entire nation awaits a possible decision from the Supreme Court, which has so far refrained from directly ruling on the constitutionality of laws that define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Meanwhile, officials in at least three counties refused to participate in same-sex “wedding” ceremonies Tuesday, including in Duval County , where Court Clerk Ronnie Fussell closed down the co...

United Nations targets Churches on their homosexuality stance

Image
The push to redefine marriage and the family and thereby to de-gender society on the whole  always  ends up targeting religious individuals or groups for abject discrimination. You see, this radical agenda is its own kind of "orthodoxy" and dogmatism, and doesn't brook competition: it is intolerant of any "heresy" and insists on either converting or condemning absolutely — with no room for negotiation. Humanity, as made in God's image, "male and female," will be remade according to their own imaginings — genderless, sexless, role less — and the meaning of marriage written on our hearts will be scribbled over with nonsense. In their minds, it's as if the Creator made marriage to cause harm to gays and lesbians and to punish them with a cruel attack on their basic human dignity. It does not ever occur to them that marriage is a profound public  good  that greatly benefits men and women, and especially their children. But in this most recent...

Virginia Attorney General won’t uphold state marriage amendment

Image
RICHMOND, VA, January 27, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Only weeks after taking his oath of office, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring is already violating it by opposing the state's amendment keeping marriage between a man and a woman, say critics. “As a legislator, Herring supported this Constitutional Amendment . Now, as Attorney General, he is using the power of his office to actively oppose it,” Eve Marie Barner Gleason, a member of the Virginia Republic State Central Committee, told LifeSiteNews. “This is exactly backwards. As a legislator, he was free to oppose the amendment, but as Attorney General, he is bound by his honor and oath of office to defend it.” Herring, who voted to prevent same-sex “marriage” from becoming legal in 2006,  told  Politico  that his position has changed and “as attorney general I cannot and will not defend laws that violate Virginians’ rights.” According to  Politico,  Herring said he has pledged “to put the law...

Prop homosexual Minnesota priest calls for archbishop’s resignation for defending marriage

MINNEAPOLIS, November 9, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A Minneapolis -area priest has called for the resignation of Archbishop John Nienstedt after the archbishop supported Minnesota ’s effort to pass a constitutional amendment banning same-sex “marriage.” Fr. Michael Tegeder  wrote a letter to the editor  of the Minneapolis  Star-Tribune  oh Thursday requesting that Archbishop Nienstedt “prayerfully consider stepping down from his office.” Fr. Michael Tegeder did not defend heterosexual marriage. Calling Nienstedt’s support for the marriage amendment a “misguided crusade,” he suggested that the archbishop’s resignation would be “healing for our state” and “would show some magnanimity on [Nienstedt’s] part.” Tegeder has long been a dissenter from Catholic teaching on the issue of homosexuality. He and the archbishop have clashed repeatedly over the issue. Last year, Fr. Tegeder refused to comply with Archbishop Nienstedt’s request that all priests rea...

Marriage activists encounter threats, flying bottles, armed opponent in Minnesota

Image
MINNEAPOLIS, September 18, 2012, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A team of young Catholic men encountered everything from enthusiastic support to threats of violence and opponents bearing side arms as they toured the state of Minnesota to oppose the redefinition of marriage . Volunteers from the  American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) recently completed a 10-day trip of the state, where voters in November will decide on a constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.  A video shot by TFP shows passersby of various faiths honking their support - or threatening violence - as members held signs that read “God’s marriage = 1 man + 1 woman” and “Honk for traditional marriage.” More than one driver threw a bottle at the TFP activists as they peacefully held their signs or prayed the rosary.  One person yelled, “ Hail Satan !” out his drivers window as he sped past. Another stopped to say, “You are the exa...

Minnesota Supreme Court removes deceptive marriage amendment ballot title

Image
ST. PAUL, Minnesota , August 28, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) — The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled Monday that two elected state officials overstepped their authority in changing the title of a marriage ballot initiative in support of traditional marriage against the will of its backers. Supporters sued after Secretary of State Mark Ritchie changed the title from “Recognition of marriage solely between one man and one woman” to “Limiting the status of marriage to opposite sex couples.” Mark Ritchie Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and ActRight Legal Foundation attorneys represented numerous state legislators as well as the committee supporting the amendment in the suit. “Minnesotans deserve to have free and fair elections, and they deserve to know precisely what they are voting for,” said ADF Senior Counsel Jordan Lorence, who argued before the high court as lead counsel in the case, Limmer v. Ritchie, last month. “Because the Legislature wrote a ballot title for the ma...

Hawaii federal judge strikes down bid to redefine marriage in court

Image
Hawaii polynesian cultural centre (Photo credit: Danielle Bauer ) HONOLULU, August 9, 2012 — A federal court Wednesday upheld Hawaii ’s definition of marriage as one man and one woman, rejecting a lawsuit to tear down both the definition as well as Hawaii’s constitutional amendment giving the legislature the power to maintain it. Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys defended the law and the amendment on behalf of Hawaii Family Forum, which the court allowed to intervene in the case in April. “This ruling affirms that protecting and strengthening marriage as the union of one man and one woman is legitimate, reasonable, and good for society,” said Legal Counsel Dale Schowengerdt. “The people of Hawaii adopted a constitutional amendment to uphold marriage, and the court rightly concluded that the democratic process shouldn’t be short-circuited by judicial decree.” The three individuals who filed the suit asked the court to declare the state’s constitutional amendment on...
