LGBT group took millions from gov’t, ‘spent lavishly’ on computers, meals

Image
A charity providing the United Kingdom ’s only national domestic abuse hotline for LGBT persons went belly up in 2016 because of negligent government agencies , a profligate CEO and lavish overspending, according to a report by the government’s National Audit Office . Broken Rainbow , which during its 12-year existence received £1.4 million from various government agencies, provided support for LGBT people abused by their partners. Its volunteers fielded more than 450 telephone calls and 849 online contacts a month during its final year of operations. When the government (and majority-funding source) finally shut it down after a flurry of media exposes, the actual service moved seamlessly to another charity. Though the report names no names, CEO Jo Harvey Barringer was the focus of damaging media coverage in 2015 and 2016, when Broken Rainbow operated “hand-to-mouth,” according to the report. Buzzfeed used inside reports from a presumed board or staff member named “Paul...

Will teachers be fired for not teaching gay ‘marriage’?: UK education minister won’t rule it out

Image
LONDON , 20 November, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Christian member of parliament is raising the alarm after the U.K.’s minister of education refused to rule out the possibility that teachers might be booted for refusing to promote the homosexual agenda in class if gay ‘marriage’ is legalized. Minister Liz Truss recently responded to a letter from Conservative MP David Burrowes ( Enfield, Southgate ), a practicing Christian who supports traditional marriage . Burrowes had raised concerns about how the government’s plans to legalize gay ‘marriage’ would impact schools. Education Minister Elizabeth Truss wouldn't offer any assurances that teachers wouldn't be fired for not supporting gay 'marriage' “There is a big and serious question that gay marriage will undermine the liberty of conscience,” he  said  on Sunday. Truss, responding on behalf of the government to Burrowes’ concerns, wrote that it was impossible to know how changing the definition of marri...

What happens when we redefine marriage?

Image
October 10, 2012 ( Mercatornet.com ) - Back  in January  I set out David Cameron ’s proposals for creating same-sex marriage, which he announced at the British Conservative Party ’s annual Conference in October 2011, alongside some arguments against those plans. A year later, the controversy has moved on. There are now two parallel movements for same-sex marriage in the UK , a result of the devolution of powers to the Scottish Government .  A consultation  in Scotland ended in December 2011 and its results were snuck out shortly before Olympic fever dominated the Isles. It is notable how divisive same-sex marriage has been north of Hadrian’s Wall: an ‘unprecedented’ 77,508 responses were received in the ‘largest consultation exercise of its type ever held in Scotland’. Over 33,000 responses were submitted via forms amended by organisations with an interest in the two core proposals of same-sex civil marriage and religious civil partnerships. Opponents of ...

Scottish civil servants concerned about religious freedom if gay ‘marriage’ passes: leaked e-mail

Image
Scottish Government logo (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) EDINBURGH – BBC Scotland has seen an e-mail sent between Scottish civil servants that shows Scottish National Party ministers are concerned about the far-reaching effect on civil freedoms of a proposed redefinition of marriage . They express concerns that “ gay marriage ,” will impact the freedom of citizens, particularly religious ministers, to object to and refuse to participate unless substantial changes are made to the UK ’s Equalities Act 2010. The email says that the government “may announce” that they will proceed with same-sex “marriage,” both for civil and religious ceremonies, but not until the Act is “amended to provide full protection for individual celebrants who are opposed to same-sex ceremonies, even if their religious body has decided to opt in to carrying out such ceremonies”. “[T]he government recognises the need to provide appropriate protections for some in Scottish society who are against same sex m...

UK Conservatives trounced in local elections: loss blamed on gay ‘marriage’ push

Image
LONDON, May 8, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Homosexualist activists say they are disappointed today after the Cameron government ’s proposed “gay marriage” plans were not included in this morning’s Queen’s Speech in Parliament. Meanwhile, Conservative Party loyalists are saying the party’s  “gay marriage” push , along with the Liberal Democrats ’ plan to “reform” the House of Lords to make it an elected body, have cost both parties dearly in last week’s local elections. Observers are speculating that the results of the nation-wide local elections, which vote in representatives in county and municipal councils, have prompted a frantic rewriting of the government’s policies in time for this morning’s Queen’s Speech, the event that announces the government’s upcoming goals. While “gay marriage” was not mentioned in the Speech, Lords Reform is still officially on the table. However, the fate of the plan to redefine marriage remains unclear, with conflicting information emerging. C...

Top UK gay lobby presents legislation to abolish ‘husband’ ‘wife’; coalition launched to oppose

Image
Image via Wikipedia LONDON , February 20, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Last week, the UK ’s most powerful homosexualist lobby group, Stonewall , presented legislation to Parliament that proposes five steps to resolve the legal complexities involved in introducing same-sex “marriage” Among the suggested legal changes, Stonewall’s draft bill would amend the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 to remove the terms “husband” and “wife” and replace with “parties to a marriage.” Although Stonewall did not hold a formal position on same-sex “marriage” until recently, it is clear that the group was simply waiting for a more opportune political moment, when same-sex “marriage” legislation would have cross-party support, and a chance of passing the Hose of Lords. That moment appears to be now. A conservative coalition to stop the legalization of gay "marriage" was launched this morning. The presentation of Stonewall’s legislation comes weeks before David Cameron ’s coalition government is set to ...
