Judge lets Vimeo kill ex-gay pastor’s account for videos about leaving homosexuality

Image
A federal court dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Christian pastor against video hosting platform Vimeo for violating his freedom of speech when it deleted his account because he hosted videos to help people overcome unwanted same-sex attraction. Pastor James Domen is the founder of Church United, a non-profit religious organization dedicated to changing “the moral culture of our communities in California,” and an advocate for people seeking to overcome unwanted same-sex attraction. He is also the married father of three children. In several videos Domen posted on Vimeo, he discussed A.B. 2943 — a bill being considered in the California legislature, which proposes to ban so-called conversion therapy in the state. Vimeo sent a message to Domen in November 2018 claiming that several of his videos violated company policy.  The video hosting website claimed:  “Vimeo does not allow videos that promote Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE).” The website gave Domen 24 ho...

Vimeo removes Christian church’s account over videos critical of homosexuality

Image
Popular video hosting site Vimeo removed the account of Fairview Baptist Church, located in Oklahoma after the organization hosted a conference criticizing homosexuality. The "God's Voice"  conference , hosted by Fairview Baptist in Oklahoma City on February 22–23, 2019, was intended to "bring biblical clarity to the recent confusion surrounding the issues of 'revoiced' sexuality and 'LGBTQ+ Christians.'" Fairview Baptist calls God's Voice a "response to the liberalizing message from evangelical elites on matters of sexual ethics." Speakers at the God's Voice conference included syndicated radio host Janet Mefferd, Rev. Thomas Littleton of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. Michael Gryboski of the Christian Post reported Friday, March 15 that Vimeo  had restored  the account and some 300 of Fairview Baptist's videos, but all of the videos from the God...

Vimeo censors Christian group for videos on overcoming same-sex attraction

Image
Another prominent video hosting site is cracking down on content supporting therapy for unwanted homosexual attraction, according to the California-based nonprofit Church United. The group, which is dedicated to “equip(ping) pastors as culture-changers” via events in which they “hear high-profile leaders share about the current spiritual crisis,” revealed last week that on November 23 the website Vimeo notified Church United founder and pastor, Jim Domen, that the group had 24 hours to download copies of all 89 of its videos before the account would be permanently shut down. At issue were five videos on the subject of Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE), particularly controversial California legislation that was withdrawn in August but would have banned virtually any form of treatment for unwanted same-sex attraction. The videos featured Dorman and other pastors, as well as personal stories from ex-homosexuals who attest that such change is possible with the right help. “Your ...

Which authority is final: my interpretation of my personal gay experience, or the revelation of God in Scripture

If Jesus has changed your life and set you free from homosexual practice, your testimony is not welcome on Vimeo —not now, not ever. And if you see homosexuality as another aspect of sexual brokenness, something for which Jesus died and something from which you can be healed, your opinion is not welcome on Vimeo. Case closed, door shut, end of subject. In the words of Dr. David Kyle Foster, director of Pure Passion Ministries and himself a former homosexual, "This is pure religious bigotry and censorship." Last December, Vimeo contacted Foster to inform him that some of Pure Passion's videos had been marked by a moderator since "Vimeo does not allow videos that harass, incite hatred or depict excessive violence." They instructed him to "remove any and all videos of this sort from" from his account—he had 850 videos on Vimeo—and let him know that his account would be reviewed in 48 hours. If his ministry failed to remove the allegedly offen...

Deutsch: Logo des Videoportals Vimeo (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) LANGLEY, British Columbia, 14 August, 12 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Video streaming service Vimeo has deleted over 200 videos from the account of a Canadian conservative internet news service after a homosexual activist and registered sex offender with a habit of threatening pro-life organizations with legal action complained to Vimeo about the content of the films. Last month, RoadKill Radio News  interviewed   Brian Camenker , president of the pro-traditional-family organization MassResistance.com, about a  $1 million lawsuit  brought against him by Adam Flanders , a homosexual activist and  registered sex offender  in the State of Maine . Flanders is pursuing criminal charges against Camenker for posting on MassResistance.com a letter that Flanders wrote and submitted to various media outlets five years ago — when he was 20 — that detailed his sexual experiences with a minor at a gay yo...
