Hallmark commits to ‘LGBTQ storylines,’ caves to left-wing pressure

Image
One of television’s last refuges from identity politics will soon be no more, as the Hallmark Channel announced it will add homosexual and/or transgender stories to its film slate. “Diversity and inclusion is a top priority for us and we look forward to making some exciting programming announcements in the coming months, including announcements about projects featuring LGBTQ storylines, characters, and actors,” a Hallmark spokesperson revealed to People after receiving online complaints about the lack of obvious LGBT content in its 2020 lineup of holiday movies. “We are committed to creating a Hallmark experience where everyone feels welcome." For years, the Hallmark Channel’s made-for-TV movies have been a source of wholesome comfort entertainment in contrast to Hollywood’s increasingly “woke” output, which has also made it a target of pro-LGBT activists. Last fall, the channel temporarily aired a commercial for the wedding planning service Zola, featuring a same-sex “we...

Sesame Street goes gay

Image
The long-running PBS children’s television program Sesame Street showed its support for LGBT “Pride Month” with a social media post shared on Twitter and Facebook last week. “On our street, we accept all, we love all, and we respect all. Happy #PrideMonth!” says the Twitter post dated June 11, from the official Sesame Street account @sesamestreet. Sesame Street was not the only kids’ show that voiced a message of support for the LGBT activist–backed “Pride Month,” which promotes the homosexual lifestyle and gender-fluidity. Also tweeting in support of “Pride Month” was the kids’ network Nickelodeon, which posted a tweet featuring a trio of its popular characters in colorful dress. “Celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month,” said the June 13 Nickelodeon tweet. The LGBT-backed “Pride Month” was also supported by the Cartoon Network, who celebrated with social media advertising and special videos along with shows approved by t...

Netflix defends packing shows with LGBT ‘representation’: ‘every gay person is very necessary’

Image
Even in a world as uniformly left-wing as Hollywood, Netflix’s weakness stands out, from leading the pro-abortion mob against Georgia to controversial productions such as The Two Popes. Some LGBT roles are inserted that have nothing at all to do with the storyline of the movie but are a sidetrack to satisfy a lobby group. It portrays the weakness of directors of movies.  Then we have aggressive LGBT roles where suddenly the dialogue goes sideways and we have a lengthy tiresome illogical justification of immoral LGBT. So we go from entertainment to LGBT agenda.  But one of the most pervasive manifestations of the streaming platform’s priorities is its glut of LGBT content. “LGBTQ” is a specific searchable genre, and one 2017 list counted a whopping 57 shows on the platform featuring gay characters. Naturally, not everyone is impressed, as evidenced by this tweet going viral last week:  The visual apparently resonated with enough people that Netflix’s social m...

Cartoon Network promotes LGBT agenda with lesbian kiss in kids show ‘Adventure Time’

Image
Last week, Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time became the latest example of mainstream American animation presenting homosexual attraction to young audiences, highlighting a trend that appears to be accelerating. Premiering in 2010,  Adventure Time  is a fantasy adventure series mixing humor and drama in a surreal setting. The September 3 series finale  featured a scene  in which two female characters, Marceline the Vampire Queen and Princess Bubblegum, confirmed years of hints and fan speculation that they were lesbian by kissing each other on the lips. “We knew that if we put this in, it would get some attention. But would it be too much attention?” said executive producer Adam Muto, who explained that the moment wasn’t in the original script and came at the insistence of storyboard artist Hanna Nyström. “Or would we be downplaying it too much? We knew we wanted to incorporate it, and in the end, you just have no control over how people will remembe...

Disney to feature first-ever openly gay character in upcoming ‘family’ film

Image
Disney is reportedly pushing the homosexual envelope yet again with an upcoming film in which it will feature for the first time an openly gay character. The move is being hailed as a "turning point" for Disney.  British comedian Jack Whitehall will play a gay character in  Jungle Cruise , which is based on the iconic theme park ride of the same name, the UK’s  Sun   reports .  The film , which stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt, is slated for an October 2019 release. Whitehall’s character is reportedly the brother of Blunt’s, and “a gay man - one who is hugely effete, very camp and very funny,” a source told the  Sun . "This latest script, set at a time when it wasn’t socially acceptable to be gay, is another significant turning point.” Notably, the movie takes place in the 19th century, which suggests either an inaccurate portrayal of the era’s attitudes about homosexuality or that those attitudes will be a plot point adding to...

CW announces lesbian ‘Batwoman’ television series

Image
The CW’s popular lineup of DC Comics superhero shows is getting a new addition that’s all but certain to be the most “social justice”-heavy yet. The superheroine Batwoman (not to be confused with the more well-known Batgirl) is set to be the focus of the new live-action series, the Hollywood Reporter reveals , following her debut in a crossover event for the next seasons of Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Moreover, the project will lean heavily into one of the defining aspects of the character’s modern incarnation: her sexuality. “[A]rmed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind,” Kate Kane “soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence,” the show’s summary reads. It will be executive produced by Greg Berlanti, the openly-gay overseer of the CW’s current DC shows, and scripted by Caroline Dries of The Vampire Diaries fame. ComicBook.com adds that...

Marvel Studios chief promises LGBT superheroes in future movies

Image
The crowd-pleasing Marvel Cinematic Universe films have remained relatively free of “social justice” posturing ever since they began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” but that may be about to change. In an interview, Monday to promote this month’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told The Playlist that future entries in the superhero saga would include multiple characters confirmed onscreen to be gay or bisexual. “When are we getting a Gay, Bi, LGBTQ, out character in the MCU?” the interviewer asked. “Is it even in the works?” Feige answered that it was, teasing that in addition to at least one completely new character, at least one previously-established character would be revealed to be LGBT in some way. This isn’t the first time Feige has made a similar promise; in 2015 he told Collider that audiences could expect to see a homosexual, bisexual, or transgender character sometime within the next decade. However, whether Feige’s words signal a sincere desire to add LG...
