Does Romans 1 Condemn Homosexuality?

Image
English: Drawing of a Macaroni or Molly, an 18th Century term for effeminate homosexual. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) There are many in today’s culture that do not recognize the Bible as any kind of moral authority, especially on the matter of homosexuality. It should come as no surprise that atheists and skeptics hold this position; for example, the late Christopher Hitchens once remarked, “What do I care what some Bronze Age text says about homosexuality?” 1  As noted apologist William Lane Craig has observed, “One of the best ways to defend the legitimacy of the homosexual lifestyle is to become an atheist.” 2 There are, however, a number of practicing homosexuals and activists who are not atheists and argue that the Bible legitimizes general homosexual behavior . Their core argument is that the Bible has been misunderstood and misinterpreted where homosexuality is concerned. Let’s be honest: if they’re right, and God’s Word really does not condemn homosexual behavio...

Sincere deception and the homosexualized Evangelical Lutheran Church of America

Image
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America , the country's largest Lutheran denomination , now has its first openly gay bishop from Los Angeles, California , who has been elected to a six-year term. The Rev. R. Guy Erwin was elected Friday to a six-year term as bishop of the ELCA's Southwest California Synod at the church's annual assembly in Woodland Hills , Calif, the denomination said in a statement, noting that "Erwin is the ELCA's first synod bishop who is gay and in a partnered relationship." Erwin, interim pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Canoga Park , Calif., was elected on the sixth ballot receiving 210 votes of 381 cast. The synod is made up more than 120 congregations in five counties. This is the deception right here: "The ELCA is a church that belongs to Christ, and in it there is a place for all," The Associated Press quoted church spokeswoman Melissa Ramirez Cooper as saying. Further deception: "The election of Pastor Erwin i...

ELCA Pastor With Interesting View on Scripture and celebrating Homosexuality

Image
Is all of scripture God's Word or not? ELCA pastor Gary Eichhorn of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Oakwood, OH made an interesting statement in a recent news article. The article says this, "Gay Christians refer to the four to seven passages most often cited to attack homosexuality as 'the clobber passages.'  (Rev.) Eichhorn of Oakwood said none of them are from the gospels and none are quotations attributed to Jesus . 'I’d rather talk about the things Jesus talked about rather than the things he never talked about,' Eichhorn said."( read here ) So only the things Jesus said are important enough to warrant our thoughts, comments and preaching Rev. Eichhorn? Didn't God inspire all of scripture? If God inspired the writings of Peter (and all the writings of scripture), that means Peter wrote what God wanted him to write. What Peter (and all the Biblical authors) wrote is just as important as what Jesus said, because they all come from...

COPENHAGEN, Denmark , June 11, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The Catholic Bishop of Copenhagen , Czeslaw Kozon, says he is worried that the Catholic Church in Denmark may be forced to perform “ marriage ” ceremonies for homosexual couples in the future. Bishop Czeslaw Kozon of Copenhagen Politicians in Denmark have voted to  force churches  in the established Evangelical Lutheran Church to perform same-sex “marriage” ceremonies inside their sanctuaries. Since 1997, when same-sex “marriage” was legalized, homosexuals have been able to get “married” in a blessing ceremony after the normal church service , but now the unions will be part of the service as they are with heterosexual couples. The law takes effect June 15. In an interview with Vatican Radio , Bishop Kozon said that the new law might affect Catholic churches sometime in the future. When asked if the law will be applied to other denominations and religions, Kozon  replied , “We have been assured b...

Supreme Court unanimously shoots down Obama admin: churches have right to choose ministers

Image
Image via Wikipedia WASHINGTON, January 12, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Christian advocates are celebrating following a Supreme Court ruling Wednesday unanimously supporting the right of a church to select its own ministers, known as the “ministerial exception,” denying the Obama administration ’s argument that no such protection actually existed. Under the First Amendment , the high court ruled, churches are entitled to protection for their employment practices that applies beyond the head of a religious congregation to others, such as teachers, who are viewed as also carrying the message of the church. The court thus dismissed a wrongful termination suit brought against a church by a former teacher, who complained of disability discrimination to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission . Conservative analysts note that Obama administration lawyers went farther than anti-religion interest groups weighing in on the case: Ed Whelan of National Review   said  the ad...

Healing for Homosexuals

Sexual Sin & Bondage: What Does It Look Like To Be Healed? Part 1 Written by Dr. David Kyle Foster    Defining the Terms Properly  In any debate, the person who defines the words that are used in the discussion has the greatest influence on the thinking of those observing.  Being the definer of words implies knowledge, expertise and authority. It's a very subtle trick to try to redefine the terms used in an argument - a kind of intellectual "stacking of the deck " used by cults and other heretics throughout history. The gatekeepers of our modern culture know of this power and have for decades been redefining the terms and ideas that fashion and direct our social beliefs and actions. Two lesbians are now a "family ". Killing unborn children is now a "right ".  Lying with a man as with a woman is now "good ", "natural " and "the creative will of God ". And as if that weren't absurd enough, our natio...
