Chaos, controversy erupt in Arkansas after judge rules same-sex “marriage” ban unconstitutional

Image
LITTLE ROCK, AR ,  – County clerks in Arkansas are refusing to issue marriage licenses and the state attorney general has vowed to appeal after a Pulaski County judge ruled the state’s 17-year-old ban on same-sex “marriage” unconstitutional. In a 13-page ruling, Judge Christopher Piazza  said  Arkansas’ constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman violated the equal protection clause of the Constitution. “The difference between opposite-sex and same-sex families is within the privacy of their homes,” wrote Piazza. While Piazza said he was “not unmindful of the criticism that judges should not be super legislators,” he argued that the issue was sufficiently important to overturn the will of the majority in the defense of the homosexual minority, and compared their plight to that of blacks affected by institutional racism during the last century. “The issue at hand is the fundamental right to marry being denied to an un...

Immoral Homosexual marriage stopped by the State

Image
Immoral Homosexual couples in Utah , the United States Supreme Court on Monday blocked further same-sex marriages there while state officials appeal a decision allowing such unions. The development created what Utah’s attorney general called “legal limbo” for the same-sex couples who had wed in the state in recent weeks. With the state’s ban on such unions reinstated for now, many wondered whether their window to marry in Utah had closed forever. “As remarkable and miraculous as it was, we’re still cognizant of the fact that this still is one of the most conservative states in the union,” said Michael Ferguson, half of the first gay couple to receive a marriage license in the state. “I don’t feel a sense of despair or hopelessness or anything remotely close to that. This is part of living in a civil society where we have the rule of law.” Although Utah had warned gay couples that their marriages could be dissolved if it succeeded in its legal appeals, the state had also begun granti...

Politician gracious to Christian webcast then slaughters Christians on Q&A

English: Kevin Rudd (right) and Julia Gillard (left) at . (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has clashed with a Brisbane pastor over gay marriage. IF there is actually such a thing as the "Christian vote", on Monday night Kevin Rudd lost it. For many, the Prime Minister's spirited defence of same-sex marriage on ABC1's Q&A program was a watershed moment.  Kerryn Phelps hailed it as a "historical moment in Australian politics " and penned a 475-word article of thanks to Rudd. For Phelps and so many other LGBTIQ  voters, this was the "sweetest victory of all". Rodney Croome clapped and was amazed these statement came from a Christian. Yet for so many Christian voters, this was the moment that the sheep's clothing came off the wolf's back. At 7.30pm that Monday, the same night as the ABC broadcast of Q&A, more than 35,000 Christians gathered across 339 churches in every state and territory of Australia to watc...

Anti-homophobia, ‘transphobia’ bill could silence Christians, Italian family groups warn

Image
ROME , August 5, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Today’s session of the Italian Lower House is the last opportunity Deputies will have to discuss a highly contentious “anti- homophobia ” law that opponents have said will shut down and criminalize any public opposition to “gay marriage,” civil unions, or homosexuals adopting children. Avvenire , the official newspaper of the Italian Catholic bishops’ conference, has said that, as in Britain, this law could usher in prosecutions against religious associations or clergy who publicly denounce the homosexual act as a sin. The strongest objections have warned that Italy could be following the same path as Britain by introducing a law that would strike at freedom of thought, expression, and religious belief, all rights that are explicitly defined by the Constitution. Critics of the bill, who include constitutional legal experts as well as the Italian Catholic bishops, have warned that the bill will make it a criminal act to publicl...

Rob Ford , Toronto ’s right-leaning mayor, was booted from office Monday morning after two years of relentless attacks from liberal politicians and media. Rob Ford Ontario Justice Charles Hackland found him guilty of a conflict of interest after he voted on a city council measure involving donations to his football foundation. Ford, who was elected in 2010 on fiscally conservative promises to “stop the gravy train,” had especially angered the city’s liberal stronghold by, among other things,  refusing to attend Toronto’s Gay Pride parade as previous mayors had done. He was also up front about his opposition to same-sex “marriage.” Ford will be allowed to run for the mayor’s office again, however. The judge had the option of barring him from running for up to seven years.
