The Salvation Army a ‘Hate’ Group? Preposterous!

Image
To think of the Salvation Army — which does so much good work for people of every race, creed, color, sexual orientation, whatever — as somehow anti-gay is preposterous. How is the Salvation Army a Hate Group? A few weeks ago a singer from England initially refused to participate in a half-time show at a football game in Texas because it was to benefit the Salvation Army. Singer Ellie Goulding, who later relented, said, “I am a committed philanthropist as you probably know, and my heart has always been in helping the homeless, but supporting an anti-LGBTQ charity is clearly not something I would ever intentionally do.” By what criterion is the Salvation Army an anti-gay hate group? Because they do not let practicing, unrepentant homosexuals become leaders? Should GLAAD or other radical LGBTQ groups be forced, against their will, to have as leaders those who oppose their lifestyle? This politically correct culture has lost any semblance of moral clarity to label a group ...

Gay activists launch $104 million suit against Christian for preaching at Pride Parade

Image
While ‘tolerance’ and ‘diversity’ are the rallying cry of the homosexual movement, the words appear not to apply to Christians with an unconventional message. Christians led by Canadian activist Bill Whatcott were slapped with a $104-million legal threat last week after infiltrating Toronto’s Gay Pride Parade in July dressed as “gay zombies” in green skintight suits to hand out info packets about the physical and spiritual dangers of homosexual practices.  Former Ontario MPP George Smitherman, the province’s first openly gay provincial representative as well first openly gay cabinet minister, told Daily Xtra that he joined the lawsuit to “do all we can to stamp this hateful individual out.” Jim Hughes, president of Campaign Life Coalition, has also   received a notice of threatened legal action   for his organization’s supposed publishing of the original report on Whatcott’s activities and for linking to the “offensive literature” that was distributed at the Pri...

Australia: Homosexual advocates against accuse Christians of hate and bigotry

Image
"The Australian public just voted for a new Parliament in which a majority of members support marriage equality," she said. But is this true? No. Again the homosexual lobby keeps presenting false facts. The Prime Minister appeared at the Sydney Gay Pride March along with his wife and believes the vote for immoral homosexual marriage will fly through. Because of these statements, many conservatives have abandoned the Liberal Party in the last election voting for independents and others, simply because of this leaders position on homosexual marriage. Marriage equality advocate Rodney Croome said 70 per cent level of support when a plebiscite was first mooted last August had fallen as people became aware of the cost and the specifics of the Coalition proposal. Yet many Australians support the vote so they can express their opposition to the gay agenda. Children will be the victims of this new immorality. LGBT issues also will not stop with marriage. Churches and places o...

The unspoken tragedy of the Orlando massacre

Image
In responding to the Orlando massacre at a same-sex nightclub, Bishop Robert Lynch of the Diocese of St. Petersburg found religion, including Catholicism, responsible for the slaughter. He wrote, “sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people.” And he is right that we were wrong; but he is right for the wrong reason. Our contempt was not in words spoken but in those left unsaid. To hold someone in contempt is to look down on him or her as somehow less worthy. It is to judge some as unable to meet basic human standards of behavior, or to doubt that others might be capable of genuine sacrificial love. Many Catholics are guilty of this contempt. This contempt, however, is not rooted in the magisterial teaching of the Church but in the Catholicism practiced and preached by most Catholics, lay and clerical, in the modern Western world. It is the contempt of low expectations, a con...

A license to discriminate: California’s assault on Christian colleges

Image
Earlier this year my BreakPoint colleague, John Stonestreet, told you that the U. S. Department of Education, under pressure from LGBT groups such as the Human Rights Campaign, agreed to create a public, searchable database of Christian colleges and universities that obtained Title IX waivers based on claims of religious freedom. John and others called it a “Christian college hit list” because it will allow LGBT activists to target Christian colleges for harassment and possible legal challenges. Sen. Ron Wyden and several other Democrats in the Senate say the waivers “allow for discrimination under the guise of religious liberty.” Christian colleges, for their part, say the exemptions are nothing new and allow religious schools, for example, to provide male-only or female-only dorms. They fear the database will make them easy targets for those who hate them. You think those fears are overblown? Well, fast-forward to today. The California state Senate has passed a bill that would m...

‘I hope you f——ing go to Hell’: Activist screams at Texas gov for supporting natural marriage

Texas Governor Greg Abbott was traveling with his wife Cecilia and their daughter, 18-year-old Audrey, when a 32-year-old man who had just shaken the governor's hand began screaming at him. Abbott's offense? Supporting natural marriage. “I hope you f---ing go to Hell because of your stance on gay marriage,” the violent gay activist yelled, face-to-face with the governor, according to Abbott spokesman Matt Hirsch, in full view of Abbott's wife, Texas ' First Lady Cecilia Abbott, and their daughter. Then, the unidentified same-sex "marriage" supporter threatened the Texas governor.  "I'll see you on the plane," he said, as Texas troopers traveling with Abbott told the man to step away. The incident happened at John F. Kennedy International Airport , where officials pulled the man who accosted the governor off the flight, gave him a hotel room for the night, and put him on another flight the next day. Media coverage of this gay "m...

We didn’t seek this war, but if it comes, we must not shirk from it

I was a law student when I first learned of the consequences of not being politically correct concerning homosexuality. A former Miss America’s contract as the citrus growers’ brand-ambassador was allowed to lapse because she had successfully campaigned for the repeal of a pro-homosexual ordinance in Miami-Dade County. She was quoted as saying, “What these people really want, hidden behind obscure legal phrases, is the legal right to propose to our children that theirs is an acceptable, alternate way of life.” She was publicly humiliated -- "pied" on national television -- and her name --  Anita Bryant  -- became synonymous with something called "homophobia" and "hate speech." As a new Air Force judge advocate officer, my first court assignment was to represent the United States in an administrative discharge proceeding concerning a female service member. She was being kicked out of the service for allegedly  engaging  in homosexual acts. Even as ...
