Studies find LGBT youth more likely to use drugs, smoke, drink, engage in risky behavior
Recent studies show that homosexual youth are far more likely to use drugs, smoke, drink, and engage in risky, violent, and/or self-destructive behavior.
Fifteen researchers poured over the U.S. Center for Disease Control's Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, which "monitors six categories of priority health-related behaviors among youth and young adults" using school-based surveys.
The researchers compared the behavior of homosexuals (and practicing bisexuals) to heterosexual high school youth from September 2014 to December 2015. The "risky behavior" included violence, smoking, alcohol and drug use, "unsafe" sex, poor diet, and physical inactivity.
The conclusion? "Significant health disparities exist between sexual minority and nonsexual minority youth."
In fact, in nearly every category measured, gay, lesbian, and bisexual students were more likely than heterosexual students to engage in self-destructive behaviors, such as smoking, drinking alcohol, drug abuse, and "unsafe" sex.
A second study focusing on Hispanic homosexuals in Miami found that they were twice as likely to drink, smoke, and use drugs.
"The harsh reality revealed by this and so many other studies is that LGBTQ lifestyles are high risk — and you cannot blame that on societal 'homophobia,'" Peter LaBarbera, president and founder of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, told LifeSiteNews. "One report after another finds disproportionate rates of mental illness, and STDs, even in the most 'gay'-tolerant areas."
The outspoken Christian leader said the public, and especially youth, should be informed about the reality of the dangerous effects of homosexual behavior. "It's time to stop ignoring the elephant in the room and — at the very least — to educate young people and students on the elevated dangers of homosexual, bisexual, and transgender lifestyles and, specifically, unnatural sex," he said.
"Ultimately, educators who celebrate, indulge, and cater to LGBTQ identities — which of course lead to high-risk LGBTQ behaviors such as anal sodomy between males — bear responsibility for the tragic results of embracing and practicing these immoral behaviors," LaBarbera charged. "Enough of phony liberal 'compassion' that does not serve the welfare of young people!"
