Gay lobby following plan to destroy family, corrupt children: Mexico City archdiocese

In a pair of editorials published in the diocesan newspaper, the Catholic archdiocese of Mexico City is warning the faithful that the international gay lobby is seeking to destroy families and children with propaganda leading them to accept same-sex relationships and even to change their “gender identity.”
“Years ago, people with homosexual preferences were regarded as mentally ill,” notes the archdiocese in one of the recent editorials. “Today, there are ‘gay pride’ marches. How did we pass from one extreme to another? It’s owing to a plan that was carefully studied, elaborated, and financed by international lobbies that seek to destroy the family because they see it as an archaic and repressive institution.”
“That is how they induced the World Health Organization to take homosexuality off the list of psychiatric illnesses,” the archdiocese continues. “They then promoted the idea that it was very normal to be attracted to the same sex: on television and in the movies ‘gay’ characters appeared who provoked sympathy, and little by little people were becoming accustomed to see them as normal, and to tar-brush those who wouldn’t accept it as ‘homophobic.’”
The gay lobby’s campaign of misinformation is particularly destructive to children, notes the archdiocese, because it seeks to convince them that homosexual behavior is morally acceptable and even to convince them that they can change their gender. It also threatens to turn them over to homosexual adoptive parents whose influence will be inevitably detrimental to the child’s proper development, the archdiocese warns.
The homosexual movement “seeks to teach children that there are not only men and woman, and that to be a person with same-sex attraction is normal. In the United States they’re already using a book in preschool that says that families are comprised of two mothers or two fathers, and children’s stories like ‘King and King.’ It is an intensive and pernicious campaign to promote the homosexual lifestyle from the most tender stage of childhood, and parents will not be able to oppose it,” notes the archdiocese.
“If a child says ‘I’m Napoleon,’ the teacher doesn’t take the child to the head of the class, saying, ‘Tell us how things went at Waterloo,’ but rather she advises his parents so that they can send him to psychological therapy,”the editorial warns. “But if this initiative is accepted, the case will be, as is already happening in other countries, that when a child says: ‘I’m a girl,’ they will accept what he says, he will immediately adopt a feminine name, he will have a new birth certificate, and permission to enter the girls’ bathrooms and changing rooms.”
Homosexual adoption is a violation of the rights of the child, the archdiocese notes, treating adoption as if it existed to benefit the parents rather than as a means to benefit children.
“Children must not be adopted to satisfy some need of the couple, but rather to do them some good, and it does them no good to grow up in a homosexual environment,” notes the archdiocese. “To give a child to a homosexual marriage is to commit an injustice against him, by intentionally denying him his right to be raised in a balanced way by a father and a mother, and placing him in a very vulnerable position.”
The editorials were published on May 29 and July 24 of this year in the archdiocesan weekly newspaper Desde la Fe (From the Faith), largely in response to a new initiative by Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto to pass a constitutional amendment establishing “marriage” between people of the same sex.

The initiative has spurred numerous protests across Mexico and was widely regarded as having caused one of the biggest electoral defeats in the history of the president’s party, the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which for the first time has lost control of a majority of Mexico’s 31 states. Representatives from the president’s own party have distanced themselves from the initiative and have announced that they will not support it.
