Franklin Graham blasts Democrat: ‘Dangerous’ to make gov’t officials back gay ‘marriage’
In a series of tweets on Monday, Billy Graham’s son Franklin blasted Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, for his hostility toward CIA Director Mike Pompeo over Pompeo’s belief in man-woman marriage.
“So does holding a traditional view of marriage now make you inappropriate for public office in the eyes of some?” Graham asked. “That’s incredibly wrong—and it’s dangerous for the future of this nation.”
Pompeo remained composed as Booker grilled him on whether he thinks it’s “appropriate” for same-sex couples to “marry” and asked him whether he thinks sodomy is perverse.
Booker’s aggression toward pro-marriage Pompeo was reminiscent of a now-infamous jab Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-CA, made to a Catholic judicial nominee: “The dogma lives loudly within you.”
That Trump-appointed nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, was eventually confirmed and is now a federal judge.
The U.S. Constitution explicitly prohibits the enactment of a “religious test” for holding public office. “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States,” Article VI states.
