Quebec pledges $7 million to combat ‘negative attitudes’ against homosexuality

QUEBEC, October 19, 2011  – The Quebec government’s all-out campaign to normalize homosexuality, labeled a “war” on traditional morality by pro-family critics, is going full-steam ahead with their announcement this week that they will disburse $400,000 to homosexual activist groups. All told, the gov

ernment says it intends to distribute $3.6 million to these groups over the next five years.
The funding, part of $7 million the government has allocated towards the “anti-homophobia” campaign, is available to groups dedicated to combating “homophobic attitudes and behavior.”  They are eligible for up to $50,000 for projects lasting two years, and must apply by December 1st.
“The actions of these organizations have a positive and concrete impact on the general public and thus for the social equality of lesbians, gay, bisexual, transsexual and the transgendered,” said Minister of Justice Jean-Ma

rc Fournier on Sunday.  “To increase their budget is to multiply their activities, and thus curb the phenomenon of homophobia.”
Georges Buscemi warned that religious freedom is becoming “obsolete” in the province.
The plan, touted as the first of its kind by a North American jurisdiction, is overseen by the Ministry of Justice, which has asserted that while homosexuality has achieved full normalization in Quebec law, gay activists must now seek to normalize it on the social level.
The government has explicitly labeled those who consider homosexuality “morally wrong” as “homophobic.”
Georges Buscemi, president of Campagne Quebec-Vie, said the plan “is actually a manual for re-engineering the Quebec nation.”
“And because the policy refuses to see that homosexual marriage is an absurdity and leads to demographic collapse among other things, it is a manual for cultural suicide,” he added.

The government announced their “anti-homophobia” plan in 2009, and then in May 2011 went ahead with a pledge of $7 million in funding.
Half of that amount will be used to fund homosexual activist groups over the next five years.  The rest of the funds will be used to set up a research chair on “homophobia”; to run two provincial awareness campaigns, expected to launch in 2012 and 2014; and establish an “office for the fight against homophobia” in the Ministry of Justice to coordinate the campaign and liaise with homosexual activist groups.
Buscemi warned that religious freedom is becoming “obsolete” in the province.
“The state has essentially declared war on Christianity and other faiths that consider homosexual acts dangerous both for the individuals that practice them and for the state where they proliferate,” he explained.
“Churches will no longer be able to talk about marriage without fearing reprisals in one shape or another from the government,” he continued.  “Eventually churches will be faced with the choice to either marry same sex couples or lose their tax-exempt status.”
“The persecution of traditional morality is going full steam ahead in Quebec. It will get worse before it gets better, that’s for sure,” he added.
In February 2010, Dr. Douglas Farrow of McGill University warned that the province’s plan was a “declaration of war” against those opposing the homosexualist agenda.
Dr. Farrow said the government’s plan is “no ordinary policy document, for it aims at the conversion, not merely of this or that piece of public infrastructure, but of the psychological and moral and sexual infrastructure of a generation.”
“Institutions, public and private, will be pressed into partnership,” Farrow warned.  “The cooperation of every citizen is already expected, and will soon be demanded. A supportive school curriculum, mandatory in nature, will be forthcoming – indeed, the Ethics and Religious Culture program has already laid the foundations.”
“War has been declared, and war there will be,” he stated.  “Let those who intend to fight, fight now. Let them fight with the weapons of St Benedict, yes, but with the weapons of Martin Luther King, Jr, too.  Let them meet and consult, and determine to act publicly and in concert, laying aside their customary deference, which has no place in a time of war.”
