Spanish bishop to LGBT activists: ‘You have much to offer the Church’
Bishop José Antonio Satué of Malaga has previously made pro-LGBT remarks and supported ‘blessings’ for homosexual ‘couples.’
A Spanish bishop appointed by Pope Leo XIV told a gathering of so-called “LGBT Christians” in Chipiona, Spain, “You have much to offer the Church,” adding, “at the same time, you can be enriched within it.”
Homosexuality is a sin, so how does Satue get around the Bible's prohibition? He doesn't because he does not care.
Bishop José Antonio Satué of Malaga addressed the 15th Meeting of “LGBT Christians” last week, according to SSPX News.
SSPX News reported:
The meeting was organized by the Pastoral Care for Sexual Diversity in the Canary Islands (PADIS) under the motto “Todos, todas, todes” — an adaptation of the famous “everyone, everyone, everyone” (*todos, todos, todos*) used by Pope Francis at World Youth Day in Lisbon in 2023. The inclusion of a gender-inclusive grammatical form, drawn from gender ideology, set the tone for the gathering.
The meeting marks a new milestone in the organization of LGBT activism within the Spanish Church. Participants unanimously approved the creation of a national network of groups that identify with both Christianity and sexual diversity.
Bishop Satué: ‘Homosexuality is not a sin’
In February, Satué caused controversy in an interview with the newspaper Málaga Hoy on February 15, stating that “being homosexual is not a sin” and that, consequently, the “blessing” of homosexual “couples” promoted by Fiducia supplicans would be “a step forward” for the Church.

Bible says: Homosexuality is a sin
“Being homosexual is not a sin. Indeed, it is not,” Satué stated. “The blessing of people who have a same‑sex relationship project is, in my view, a step forward,” adding that “we will have to find a way to better incorporate this undeniable reality into our pastoral practice.”
Bible says: Homosexuality is a sin
In December, 2023, while bishop of Teruel and Albarracín, Satué publicly endorsed Fiducia supplicans. “The possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same‑sex couples,” Satué said on that occasion, “expresses the merciful embrace of God and the motherhood of the Church.”
However, the Catholic Church teaches that homosexual activity is mortally sinful and that the homosexual inclination is objectively disordered. The Bible clearly state that homosexuality is a sin.
